THE OPPORTUNITY
The Emergency Department at GBGH is seeking talented and experienced Emergency Physicians to join our team Full-time. Part-time and Locum opportunities are also available.
GBGH ER is a busy rural site with visits ranging between 45,000-50,000 annually. We boast a recently renovated, large Emergency Department with a spacious double trauma bay, a bright well-lit workspace, two secure safe rooms, two portable ultrasound machines (including a brand new Mindray TE7 MAX), and 24 hour security support. Despite all this, our physicians will tell you that the real reason they choose to live and work here is the incredible team. From our nursing staff, to our ward clerks, physiotherapists, discharge planners, GEM nurse, housekeeping staff - the sense of teamwork and friendship at GBGH is truly unparalleled.
For those interested in academics, we regularly support medical students, PA students, and residents from the University of Toronto, NOSM, and other universities around the province. We have a monthly journal club, and are working to establish a monthly simulation lab with our brand new state of the art SimMan!
THE OFFER
- Remuneration includes a competitive AFA with a bonus system to reward hard work, as well as year end bonuses for physicians who commit to our team. Full-time ED physicians can expect to earn $300-400k a year

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfil the requirements of this position
- Fellowship in Emergency Medicine through the CFPC (CCFP-EM) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) specializing in Emergency Medicine. Candidates with experience in high volume and high acuity EDs will also be considered
- ACLS, ATLS and PALS certification. NRP is encouraged as our emergency doctors may be required to respond to Code Pink/neonatal resuscitations

Groves Memorial Community Hospital is recruiting for part-time, full-time or locum ER Physicians. We are located approximately 20 mins from Guelph and Kitchener-Waterloo (our main referral centres) and 60 mins from the GTA.
Our ED is supported by a robust group of local GPs with Anesthesia, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Gynecology consultants available. We offer X-ray, Ultrasound, Lab, and CT scans on site. Our ED volumes are approximately 60-80 visits/day. Scheduling is flexible and we offer competitive AFA hourly rates plus shadow billings. HOCC funding is also available for those wishing to provide on-call support. ED Mentorship support is also available.
We do not require FRCP/CCFP-EM, although you should be comfortable with rural Emergency Medicine. ACLS/ATLS are required (NRP/PALS is encouraged).
ER Physicians are eligible for the following Financial Incentives:
Groves Hospital ER Physician Return of Service:
- Full-time ER physicians will receive $40,000 for 4-year return of service
- Full-time hours are defined as of 1,440 hours/year of clinical work

Restricted Registration Program( -sites/)
Restricted Registration refers to the conditions placed on a medical Residents CPSO registration when: they are in a postgraduate medical education program leading to certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Family Physicians of Canada and;
provide clinical services for remuneration outside of their residency program. Residents actively engaged in an accredited residency training program at an Ontario School of Medicine are eligible to take part in the RR Program. Through the restricted registration program Residents can:

Major responsibilities may include providing advice and consultation, data gathering, interviewing patients and their caregivers, conducting physical examinations, ordering medical investigations, and providing patient treatment under supervision of the Most Responsible Physician (MRP).
The PA participates in departmental and hospital-wide activities that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment, and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives, in keeping with the mission of the organization.
Requirements:
Education/Specific Training Requirements:
- Graduate of the McMaster or Consortium Physician Assistant Program
- Graduate from an accredited education program for physician assistants and certified as a Physician Assistant by the Canadian Academy of Physician Assistants.
- Registration with the CPSO is required.
Required Certification:
- Successful completion of the Canadian Physician Assistant certification exam
- BCLS
- ACLS

- Experience with shared decision-making and leadership techniques
