The Indigenous and Community Relations Advisor role is a dynamic position based in Prince Rupert, BC. This role is responsible for fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities and regional stakeholders with a primary focus on advancing our client's community investment strategy. The successful candidate will lead initiatives that enhance our clients corporate reputation, build awareness of local operations, and support the execution of the Community Investment program to bring benefits to the region. This role also plays a key part in community relations, employee engagement and volunteerism, and communications activities that demonstrate the company’s social impact.
Responsibilities
- Build and sustain positive relationships with Indigenous groups and local communities.
- Ensure AltaGas delivers on Indigenous contractual agreements with Indigenous groups in Northwest BC.
- Support the Manager, Indigenous and Community Relations in identifying Indigenous-led strategic initiatives for community investment.
- Maintain a calendar of community engagement events and track stakeholder engagement and outcomes.
- Represent our client at internal and external events, maintaining a visible and meaningful presence.
- Identify strategic opportunities to strengthen relationships with Indigenous groups, community leaders, Prince Rupert Port Authority, Chambers of Commerce, and other stakeholders.
- Attend meetings and conferences to stay informed on local and regional issues and provide analysis to leadership.
- Collaborate within a multi-discipline team, including the Indigenous and Community Relations team supporting local operations
- Recommend and manage strategic investment and engagement opportunities aligned with business goals, industry best practices, and social impact outcomes.
- Manage the full lifecycle of grants and sponsorships, including intake, evaluation, processing, and payments.
- Participate in Community Action Team meetings for investment evaluation and approval.
- Execute the corporate volunteer program (locally) and design meaningful employee volunteer opportunities.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and materials for strategic planning and social impact reporting.
- Administer and support platforms such as Benevity and Versaic.
- Assist with budget management and internal communications showcasing community investment outcomes.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in policy, law, public relations, communications, engineering, science, or equivalent preferred
Required Experience
- 3+ years of relevant experience in community investment or nonprofit development
- 3+ years experience in Indigenous relations, government, industry, policy, public relations, or preferably in a corporate environment
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and regional stakeholders in BC is preferred
- Experience with Benevity and/or Versaic is considered an asset
Required Skills and Abilities

Les qualifications que nous cherchons :
-Baccalauréat en finances ou en comptabilité ;
-Minimum de 3 ans d'expérience pertinente en relations investisseurs / analyse financière;
-Bilinguisme (parlé et écrit). Le poste exige d’interagir avec des fournisseurs ou partenaires externes unilingues anglophones.
-Maîtrise de la suite Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)

Position Summary:
The Human Relations Advisor position is responsible for aligning HR objectives with business objectives, interacting with associates and management within the business unit. The position creates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and associates that reflect the business objectives of the organization. This position will be involved in associate and labour relations initiatives in our Plants and Distribution Centre that are located in the Atlantic region.
The position is on contract basis, for 18 months duration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective and strategic counsel to local stakeholders and actively work to achieve continuous improvement in all areas of the Human Relations function
- Deliver guidance and support on all human relations matters to multiple client groups (including salaried and hourly/unionized associates).
- Enhance, introduce and implement best-practice methodologies in support of effective associate and labour relations
- Provide coaching and training to Supervisors and hourly associates on Human Relations processes and policies.
- Compile monthly reports and analysis, including providing recommendations, for Regional and Corporate stakeholders
- Maintain constructive relations with Unions representing hourly associate groups.
- Participate in the grievance resolution process.
- Will be actively involved in national HR cycles and reconciliation activities (performance management, succession planning, salary planning, and goals setting, etc.)
- Complete Oracle transactions, reports and audits for clients as required
- Support recruitment and selection of personnel, both hourly and salary
- Manage associate relations matters including associate complaints, dispute resolution, termination, settlement, associate engagement initiative, etc.
- Provide coaching and training to salaried associates and supervisory personnel on HR related issues, i.e. hiring and selection, performance management, employment legislation, conflict resolution, policies and procedures and WCB and disability management, including return to work
- Manage short-term disability and long-term disability claim files and liaise with disability service provider
- Assist Management with labour relations matters including involvement in grievances, arbitrations and collective bargaining preparation.
- Conduct detailed investigations and ensure that any decision taken is consistent with the Collective Agreement and past practice, including any necessary suspension and/or discharge meetings
- Investigate all harassment issues/human rights claims, initiate follow-up actions and advise management accordingly
- Other assignments and projects as HR and business needs dictate
- Knowledge of HR trends, practices, and legislation including applicable employment law and Human Rights in the Canada and OH&S legislation
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills, able to plan and follow through on key priorities and large-scale projects, including problem solving and timely decision making
- Demonstrated ability in dealing with sensitive, difficult and highly charged situations
- At least basic knowledge of relocation programs and immigration requirements
- Competency in MS Office products: Excel, Work, PowerPoint
- Competency in HRIS system and reporting (Oracle preferred)
- Demonstrates a high sense of urgency and a competitive, leadership edge
- Post-secondary education in business or Human Resources, combined with related experience required
- 3-5 years generalist experience in Human Relations function required, including unionized environments
- Completion or working towards CHRP designation is considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license required, as travel is necessary between two locations in Moncton. Must be willing to travel on occasion to St. Johns as needed.
- Candidate should be extremely service orientated with client groups, including challenging status quo and ability to enter into difficult conversations with others in a professional manner

The Human Relations Advisor – Corporate & Logistics plays a key role in partnering with both corporate functional teams and field-based logistics operations. This hybrid role supports a variety of departments including Finance, Marketing, IT, and Sales, while also providing human relations support to unionized logistics teams across Ontario. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Business Partnership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to corporate and logistics leaders on HR matters, balancing business goals with people priorities.
- Guide leaders in workforce planning, employee development, policy application, and organizational change initiatives.
- Provide HR support to unionized logistics teams, including interpretation of collective agreements and resolution of labour matters.
- Support performance management and talent development conversations across all client groups.
- Partner with leadership in addressing employee concerns and providing guidance on complex HR issues.
- Foster constructive union relationships through collaboration, communication, and integrity.
- Support grievance processes, union communications, and progressive discipline documentation when needed.
- Investigate incidents and recommend appropriate follow-up actions, ensuring fair and timely resolution.
- Lead recruitment for salaried corporate roles and support hourly logistics recruitment processes.
- Partner with third-party recruiters, hiring managers, and the Talent Acquisition team to source and secure top talent.
- Support a best-in-class onboarding experience for both corporate and logistics hires.
- Coordinate and support associate engagement activities and events across the corporate and logistics teams.
- Help lead inclusion and culture-building efforts aligned with Bimbo Canada’s values.
- Assist in developing and delivering HR-related training to support leader and associate development.
- Ensure accurate and timely HRIS transactions (e.g., hires, terminations, transfers) in Oracle and other systems.
- Coordinate with payroll and the corporate Benefits team to support associate inquiries and benefits processes.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with employment laws and internal HR policies.
- Assist with the development and revision of HR policies, SOPs, and documentation.
- Contribute to national and North American HR initiatives and special projects as needed.
- Support change management efforts related to organizational growth and transformation.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience, including exposure to unionized environments.
- Experience supporting both corporate professional functions and front-line operations (e.g., logistics or manufacturing).
- CHRP/CHRL designation (or in progress) is preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (Oracle experience is an asset).
- Must have a valid driver's license, access to a personal vehicle, and the ability to travel across the province as needed/required.
