Position Overview:

We are seeking an experiencedEstimator/Project Manager to support the development, design, and execution of renewable energy projects, primarily in the solar sector, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in geothermal energy. The successful candidate will play a critical role in cost estimation, budgeting, project planning, and overseeing the successful delivery of projects from start to finish. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge renewable energy projects and contribute to sustainability efforts.



Key Responsibilities:

Estimation & Budgeting:

  • Develop accurate and detailed project estimates for solar and geothermal installations, including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
  • Review and analyze project blueprints and technical specifications to ensure estimates align with project requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns and support in the preparation of project bids and proposals.
  • Identify and manage project risks to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery.

Project Management:

  • Oversee and manage all phases of renewable energy projects, ensuring timely, on-budget, and within-scope execution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and clients to coordinate project timelines, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Ensure that projects adhere to quality standards, industry regulations, and health & safety guidelines.
  • Track and report on project progress, providing updates to stakeholders and addressing any issues or delays.

Site Visits & Coordination:

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, assess risks, and troubleshoot issues on-site.
  • Work closely with construction teams to ensure that installation processes align with the design and specifications.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to manage materials procurement and logistics.

Team Collaboration & Client Communication:

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and suppliers during the lifecycle of the project.
  • Maintain strong communication with stakeholders, providing regular project updates and responding to inquiries or concerns.
  • Lead project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth project execution.



Qualifications & Requirements:

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the solar energy industry, with a strong understanding of solar system design, installation, and project management.
  • Experience with geothermal energy systems will be a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience with Energy Modeling software
  • Experience with Auto CAD or similar designing tools.
  • Strong knowledge of renewable energy regulations, codes, and industry standards.
  • Strong estimating, budgeting, and cost management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to various construction sites and project locations as required.

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, Construction Management, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  • Previous experience working in both solar and geothermal projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, or similar).

**Job Description**
AECOM is seeking **Capital Projects Energy Support - Airport Project** to join our team. This position is based on-site, out of **Mississauga.** We are seeking professionals to join our team to help us build one of the most advanced, sustainable and passenger-friendly airports in the world.
**Major Responsibilities:**
+ Advises on strategic approaches to effectively achieve clean energy goals across program initiatives.
+ Evaluates and identifies optimal clean energy solutions, including power purchase agreements, direct purchases, and joint ventures.
+ Supports the development of the airport energy hub concept and fosters innovation in clean energy, including hydrogen and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) projects and studies.
+ Provides guidance on optimizing utility distribution for both existing and new assets to maximize efficiency and asset utilization.
+ Analyzes utility data to generate insights and reports for departments and management, highlighting viable alternative energy options for power and supply needs.
**Qualifications**
**Preferred Requirements:**
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:
+ Recognized degree in engineering, planning, or energy-related field + 4 years of relevant experience in engineering, planning, or an energy-related field.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Demonstrated success in achieving energy-related outcomes within the sector; experience with large-scale, complex programs is considered a valuable asset.
+ Extensive experience in energy and utility planning for significant capital infrastructure projects.
+ Proficient in assessing distributed energy resources, including solar photovoltaic systems and battery energy storage solutions.
+ Specialized knowledge in medium-voltage utility system planning, with expertise in microgrid design and SCADA system integration.
+ Thorough understanding and practical application of relevant energy codes, regulations, and industry standards.
**Additional Information**
This position requires work on-site/out of the office 5 days a week.

scale and commercial solar projects from concept through completion.

About the Role

This position is ideal for a results-driven leader with strong technical knowledge of

solar energy systems. You will manage all aspects of project delivery, including planning,

permitting, procurement, scheduling, and on-site execution. This position will play a vital

role in developing and guiding our growing project delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the full project lifecycle for commercial and utility-scale solar installations.

- Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules; track progress and maintain reporting for

internal and client stakeholders.

- Coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities, including vendor

and subcontractor management.

- Manage contracts, permits, purchase orders, and project documentation.

- Oversee on-site execution, including construction progress, quality assurance, and

adherence to safety standards and regulations.

- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory authorities, and

internal teams.

Qualifications

- 5+ years of project management experience in renewable energy, with specific experience

managing solar projects strongly preferred.

- Solid understanding of solar PV technology, construction practices, and electrical

systems.

- Demonstrated success in managing budgets exceeding $500K+ and delivering projects on

time.

- Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and

financial tracking tools.

- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

- PMP or equivalent certification considered an asset.

- Ability to travel up to 30% to project sites across Canada.

Stantec is seeking a Project Management Lead to join our team - we have exciting projects and ongoing pursuits! You will lead a team of project managers, project controllers, and other project management support personnel responsible for the successful execution of a program of energy and resources projects . In this position, Project Management lead directs and supervises activities related to stakeholder deliverables, contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, project financial projections, and schedule requirements to ensure projects meet quality expectations and are delivered, on time and on budget while adhering to our client's and Stantec's Safety culture.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Providing day-to-day guidance to a team of project managers, project controllers, schedulers, estimators, and other project management support personnel
- Responsible for managing some projects within the program as project manager, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk in compliance with Stantec's PM framework.
- Work collaboratively with and lead multi-disciplinary project and technical staff in developing solutions to project challenges and establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards.
- Interact internally throughout the organization with staff at all levels as well as externally with clients.
- Exercise initiative in addressing problem situations and work collaboratively to resolve most project delivery-related matters.
- Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Specialized project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing public and private projects from pursuit through closeout, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey program and project delivery needs to the client and to formulate those needs into comprehensive proposals.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
- The position involves work associated with critical infrastructure; therefore, a client background check is required.
- Strong technical understanding of large infrastructure, organizations and processes required.
- Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, and project; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.
- Knowledgeable in relevant areas of construction and understanding of various design and construction contracting methods and processes.
- Knowledge of local, and federal building codes, construction principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
- Experience supporting sales processes for acquisition of new program opportunities and startup of new capital infrastructure programs is desirable.
- Ability to be an independent thinker capable of solving problems within a team environment by analyzing technical issues, applying underlying principles, and delivering cost-effective solutions that provide value to clients.
- Travel to local and out-of-province project sites and client offices will be required.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 10 years' relevant experience in project management preferably for large engineering, design, and construction projects
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience leading a team of project managers and project management support staff.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or sciences, master's degree is considered an asset.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
