PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES
The Mechanical Engineer III is responsible for providing overall guidance to a team of engineers, scientists and prototype production employees that are engaged in the design, development, manufacture and test evaluation of advanced lightweight combat helmets. Working as a liaison between design teams, management and customer representatives, the Mechanical Engineer III utilizes their broad expertise to provide technical insights and lead the team to successfully achieve their technical, schedule and cost management goals. The Mechanical Engineer III will participate in the development of design concepts using CAD tools, mock-ups and prototypes, including the validation of designs thru analysis, testing and trials. They will be a key member of the design and engineering teams and will participate in the new product development and product improvement efforts of the company. They will work alongside with the other departments to establish the design brief, including the concept, performance and production constraints and criteria to ensure manufacturability, durability and performance of the products. The Mechanical Engineer III will liaise with process and tool engineering, supply chain and operations to ensure transition of the designs into mass production. Within the Design Engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer III will be the Subject Matter Expert regarding technical documentation and specifications, drafting standards and GD&T. They will mentor junior Mechanical Engineers in the development of their capabilities, expertise and mastery of engineering best practices.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
People:
- Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams responsible for developing new products and continuous improvement of fielded products.
- Manage development projects for new combat helmets and combat helmet technology
Process:
- Participate in the establishment of design briefs, including the concept, assumptions, performance and production constraints and criteria.
- Suggests, plans, performs or outsources all design/analytic work associated with mechanical engineering and composite armor design.
- Select proper components, technologies, materials and manufacturing processes best suited for the application.
- Develop and track engineering budgets: size, weight, min/max material conditions, etc.
- Validate designs through testing, trials and documentation of findings.
- Document specifications to respect for manufacturing of products.
- Execute technical data management within the requirements of an Enterprise Resource Planning system.
- Bill-of-material (BOM) creation and update.
- Develop lightweight combat helmet solutions (processes, technologies, products) to meet customers requirements (weight, ballistic and non-ballistic performance).
- Transition new products to Operations, including creation of process and product documentation.
- Identify technical requirements for new processes and equipment. Coordinate with Operations, Engineering and Industrial design to procure required equipment; install, shake down and validate new equipment and processes and transition to production Work with Operations (Quality Control) and Quality Assurance to identify root causes; develop and implement corrective actions.
- Provide technical support to Finance, Marketing and THS Product Management (cost analysis, bid support and new business development).
- Identify and exploit new materials / technologies for combat helmet solutions
- Coordinate product testing internal and external to Galvion test labs.
- Support and drive Montreal Armor Lab operational systems such as facility and equipment maintenance performed by internal and external resources, material inventory, Kanban restock and data systems.

Requirements:

- Significant experience in the field of railway rolling stock or mass rail transit.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft; AutoCAD Electrical.
- Ability to read with accuracy diesel engine manuals, locomotive schematics, service bulletins, maintenance instructions and other craft related documentation.
- Ability to read and understand FRA and company rules, specifications and guidelines.
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and rigor.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities well.

Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise in troubleshooting mechanical issues with locomotives, such as malfunctions in engines, compressors, cooling systems and trucks.
- Identify problematic systems/parts to ascertain performance failures using diagnostic and fault finding techniques.
- Prepare documentation for the inspection, qualification and rebuild of locomotive systems.
- Participate in the design of the integration of locomotive sub-systems and structure.
- Develop schematics, diagrams, layouts, drawings and 3D models component selection.
- Plan tests on locomotives or their subsystems at suppliers' sites.
- Documentation, instrumentation, and test coordination.
- Ensure the integration of required standards into the design and execution of tests.
- Design and test various specific test setups.
- Provide technical expertise and analyze test results.
- Write test reports and make relevant recommendations.
- Ensure the quality of measurement and testing equipment;

Description du posteEn tant qu’Ingénieur mécanique, vous serez responsable de fournir un support technique sur site dans le cadre d’un projet de remise à neuf d’une unité hydroélectrique, tout au long des phases de montage et de mise en service.
Vous assurerez la liaison entre l’équipe d’ingénierie à distance et les intervenants sur le terrain, incluant l’équipe de montage, le représentant qualité, le planificateur de chantier, le chef de chantier, le représentant du client et les travailleurs syndiqués.
Ce poste requiert une solide expérience en turbines et générateurs hydroélectriques, tant en conception mécanique qu’en interventions sur site.
Ce que vous ferez concrètement
- Lire les informations techniques disponibles afin de comprendre les systèmes et leur utilisation, tout en se coordonnant avec l’ingénieur associé pour s’assurer de bien comprendre la conception actuelle.
- Agir comme point de contact technique pour l’équipe de montage sur site en fournissant des clarifications sur la conception, les dessins de fabrication et d’installation, ainsi que sur les procédures d’installation et de mise en service.
- Soutenir l’équipe sur site dans la préparation des activités à venir et s’assurer que les exigences techniques sont claires et bien comprises.
- Assister l’équipe en cas de difficultés lors de l’assemblage et recueillir les informations techniques nécessaires pour permettre aux ingénieurs de traiter correctement les écarts.
- Être le premier ingénieur à recevoir les non-conformités liées à l’assemblage et proposer une solution basée sur la connaissance du design, tout en recueillant toutes les informations nécessaires pour permettre aux ingénieurs d’évaluer et d’approuver rapidement la disposition suggérée.
- Être le premier point de contact technique avec le client tout en veillant à communiquer avec l’équipe d’ingénierie pour valider et aligner la stratégie.
- Recueillir les informations de l’équipe sur site pour commencer les relevés « as built ». Selon la charge de travail sur site, l’ingénieur pourra être amené à mettre à jour les dessins pour refléter les modifications acceptées lors de l’assemblage et intégrer les derniers commentaires de l’utilisateur final.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing on-site technical support for a hydroelectric unit refurbishment project, throughout the erection and commissioning phases.
You will act as a liaison between the remote engineering team and field personnel, including the erection team, quality representative, site planner, site manager, customer representative and unionized workers.
This position requires solid experience in hydroelectric turbines and generators, both in mechanical design and on-site interventions.
What you'll actually be doing
- Read available technical information to understand the systems and their use, while coordinating with the associate engineer to ensure a clear understanding of the current design.
- Act as the technical point of contact for the on-site assembly team, providing clarification on design, manufacturing and installation drawings, as well as installation and commissioning procedures.
- Support the on-site team in the preparation of upcoming activities and ensure that technical requirements are clear and well understood.
- Assist the team in the event of difficulties during assembly, and gather the necessary technical information to enable engineers to deal correctly with deviations.
- Be the first engineer to receive assembly-related non-conformities and propose a solution based on design knowledge, while gathering all necessary information to enable engineers to quickly evaluate and approve the suggested layout.
- Be the first point of technical contact with the customer, while ensuring communication with the engineering team to validate and align the strategy.
- Collect information from the on-site team to begin “as built” surveys. Depending on the workload on site, the engineer may need to update drawings to reflect changes accepted during assembly, and incorporate the latest end-user comments.

Qualifications- Baccalauréat ou Maitrise en génie mécanique
- Expérience 5-15 ans , dont plusieurs années d’expériences dans le domaine hydroélectrique
- Les connaissances dans un ou plusieurs domaines suivants : appareillage, commande et protection, génie civil/structure ou génie du bâtiment en contexte énergétique seront valorisées.
- Bonne maîtrise des normes et des référentiels techniques en moyenne tension.
- Communication fluide en français et en anglais, tant à l’oral qu’a l’écrit ,
- Permis de conduire et disponibilité pour des missions sur site à l’étranger .

- Knowledge in one or more of the following fields: switchgear, control and protection, civil/structural engineering or building engineering in an energy context will be valued.
- Good command of medium-voltage standards and technical guidelines.
- Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken,
- Driving license and willingness to travel abroad on site.
