The Engineering Analyst is responsible for performing Structural qualification of nuclear components including steam generators, heat exchangers, process vessels and piping assemblies and/or performing thermal-hydraulic analysis of heat exchanger equipment including steam generators and shell-and-tube heat exchangers. This position interacts with other Engineering Analysts performing structural qualification and/or thermal-hydraulic analysis, and with Project Engineering to provide input and support.
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Perform varied engineering assignments as part of an engineering project.
+ Typically follow standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
+ Select engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations in conjunction with senior engineer/supervisor
+ Analysis and design qualification of nuclear components using finite element analysis or classical closed-form solutions which would include:
+ Structural analysis
+ Transient thermal analysis
+ Heat-transfer analysis
+ CFD analysis
+ Response spectrum and time-history seismic analysis
+ Flow-induced vibration analysis
+ Provide input and support to Project Engineering including:
+ Input to set the design
+ Preparation of calculations and reports to qualify the final design
+ Evaluating non-conformances as required
+ Responsible to demonstrate acceptance to the criteria of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and the Customer's specification.
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or associated fields with strong background in solid mechanics and/or fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
+ Typically, 5+ years' experience and knowledge of:
+ Finite element analysis.
+ Experience using general purpose FE codes such as ANSYS, ABAQUS and numerical packages such as MathCAD or Matlab.
+ Knowledge of nuclear plant functions and ASME BPV Code would be an asset.
+ Knowledge of CSA S16 or equivalent structural codes would be an asset.
+ Proven problem solving and organizational skills and ability to develop effective working relationships.
+ Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

The base salary range for this position in ((Ontario)) at the start of employment is expected to be between ((71,000)) and ((106,000)) per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.   • Demonstrated expertise in prompt engineering and familiarity with prompt frameworks.
  • Consulting Experience
  • Proven ability to train individuals and teams in AI tools and workflows.
  • Strong project management skills with hands-on Jira experience.
  • Proficiency in recording and editing videos (basic to intermediate).
  • Strong understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and ethical considerations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for creating marketing materials and training content.

Preferred Qualifications

We have an immediate need for a **Technical Compliance Engineering Analyst.** This role operates within the Engineering team and collaborates cross functionally to support departments including engineering, global trade, supply chain and operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for determining the jurisdiction and classification of hardware and technical data being exported from, or imported into Canada. They will also provide technical expertise in reviewing and interpreting drawings and documents - both for creating and managing Bills of Materials (BoMs) in our ERP and for supporting requirements management.

**What You Will Do:**
+ Conduct export jurisdiction and classification reviews and determinations of hardware and technical data under Canada's Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA) and Controlled Goods Program (CGP) / Defence Production Act (DPA)
+ Create and edit BoMs based on documentation and changes
+ Review technical drawings and documentation
+ Review and support supplier, customer and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) classifications for export and/or import
+ Collaborate with other departments to support questions and issues related to BoMs and Standards
+ Other job responsibilities as required
**Education &** **Qualifications:**
+ Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other appropriate technical education or experience equivalent.
+ 2 to 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Training in Configuration Management Systems and/or Requirements Management an asset
+ Competent computer skills - with advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel
+ Knowledge of ERP systems such as Infor LN
+ Working experience in the aerospace / defense industry is asset.
+ Full working knowledge of EIPA, CGP and DPA (ITAR and other regulations an asset)
+ Experience in Jurisdiction and Classification Determination
+ Experience with working with large amounts of data and performing analysis
+ Able to work with tight deadlines, setbacks and changes in policies
+ Self-starter; able to work autonomously with limited oversight as well as in teams
+ Communicate and prioritize effectively
+ Willingness to learn and acquire knowledge through study, experience, training, etc.
+ Effective interpersonal, leadership and communications skills
+ Analytical and reasoning; decision making with business acumen

We currently have a new opportunity for a Human Factors Engineering Analyst to join our Calgary or Ottawa team. Working with a team of Human Factors, User Experience experts and designers, you will define the problem space and the end user needs while advocating and expressing those needs to the engineering and development community. You will make decisions based on Human Factors principles, research and usability testing for military systems, ensuring the soldiers have the tools they need to be effective. The end result is an iterative user centred design process to ensure usable interfaces; which need to be effectively communicated through written and verbal presentations to the design teams and customers.

Your day to day:

  • Human Factors Analysis to identify end user needs (Task Analysis, Workload, End User Analysis) from concept to implementation
  • Employing human factors principles, standards (MIL-STDS, ANSI, ISO etc), and research to a design to ensure a more effective and usable user interface.
  • Create and support innovative and effective end user interfaces (hardware, software or firmware) and able to effectively communicate the design rationale.
  • Communicate both the user needs and detailed user interface designs and design rationale through HFE documentation, and presentations in order to advocate for end users and a design within an integrated design team environment.
  • Review equipment and system specifications for HFE requirements content.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to plan research so we can better understand our users and reveal new opportunities
  • Preparing and executing various forms of in-person User Analysis and Usability Test events with the end user community resulting in detailed human factors analysis, recommendations or artefacts.
  • Prepare recommendations and deliver presentations to influence and guide key stakeholders to better understanding
  • Help define product requirements and understand user workflows to assist design and product teams in iterating through product discovery
  • Development of or support of Human Factors analysis and artefacts (workload, task analysis, personas etc.) as well as influence the design of prototypes in a variety of mediums and fidelity as appropriate.
  • Moderate workshops, in-person interviews, and remote sessions
  • Facilitate research through collection, analysis and producing insights to lead the team towards better user outcomes
  • Establish and maintain strong internal and external relationships
  • Using an iterative user centred design process to ensure usable interfaces; which need to be effectively communicated through written and verbal presentations to the design teams and customers.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Design, Psychology Kinesiology, Computer Science, Systems Design, Ergonomics, or related discipline with course work in human factors engineering/ergonomics/human computer interaction.
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Factors, Human Systems, Human Computer Interaction or as a UX Researcher or UX Architect.
  • Experience in analysing the results and creating artefacts illustrating the end user needs and recommendations for design.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Ideally you may also have some of the following:

  • Familiar with executing Human Factors or UX in an agile environment
  • Familiarity with design guidelines and standards (MIL-STD 1472, ISO and ANSI standards)
  • Willingness for occasional travel
