industrial, and automotive sectors. At their Sault Ste. Marie facility, they specialize in heavy industrial steel

manufacturing with cutting-edge technology, diverse teams, and a collaborative work environment.

This role is part of their growing maintenance team, responsible for ensuring operational excellence and reliability

as they ramp up production on their welded line (ERW).


Role Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on, technically strong leader to join their ERW maintenance team. The Electrical Patrol

Supervisor plays a critical role in troubleshooting automation and electrical issues, leading a small team of

electricians and technicians, and ensuring equipment reliability during production.


Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise a small team of electricians, technicians, and apprentices

• Act as the first point of contact for electrical and automation breakdowns on the ERW line

• Provide hands-on troubleshooting to restore equipment functionality quickly

• Implement and monitor short- and mid-term preventive maintenance plans

• Interpret and work with electrical schematics, PLC logic diagrams, and automation systems

• Ensure strict compliance with safety policies, quality standards, and production goals

• Collaborate with cross-functional departments including production, engineering, and maintenance

leadership

• Manage and track maintenance activities using SAP and other internal systems

• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a collaborative, growth-focused culture


Qualifications:

• 3–5+ years of experience in heavy industrial manufacturing or maintenance

• Steel manufacturing experience strongly preferred

• Candidates from related industries (oil & gas, pulp & paper, mining, industrial automation) will also be

considered


Technical Skills:

• Proficiency with PLC/HMI troubleshooting (Allen Bradley preferred, Siemens and Mitsubishi acceptable)

• Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics, automation diagrams, and equipment

drawings

• Hands-on knowledge of VFDs, sensors, high-frequency heating equipment, safety systems, and industrial

controls

• Familiarity with SAP maintenance systems and other technical reporting tools


Education / Certifications:

• 442A Electrical Trade License highly preferred

• Candidates with Electrical Engineering or Automation degrees accepted if they demonstrate strong hands-

on troubleshooting capabilities


Leadership & Soft Skills:

• Supervisory experience preferred but not required; they are open to developing technically strong

electricians into leadership roles

• Ability to lead a small team by example — boots on the ground approach rather than desk-only

management

• Collaborative, adaptable, and eager to learn within a diverse, global company

Shift Rotation (ERW)

• Training Period (First 1–2 Months): Day shifts only (Mon–Fri) for onboarding and shadowing.

• Post-Training Rotational Cycle:

o Week 1: Mon & Tue (Days) → Wed & Thu (Nights) → Off Fri–Mon

o Week 2: Tue & Wed (Days) → Thu–Sat (Nights) → Off Sun–Mon

• Shifts are 12 hours: 7:00 am–7:00 pm and 7:00 pm–7:00 am

• This role reports directly to the ERW Maintenance Manager

• You’ll be joining a highly collaborative ERW maintenance team consisting of:

o 1 Maintenance Specialist

o 1 Global Trainee (entry-level, future leader)

Job Description

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting on the material handling system at Toronto Pearson Airport. The work performed falls under the direct supervision of the Residential Services Site Manager, Assistant Site Manager or Shift Supervisor. Must be able to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in the material handling system
  • Reset system errors caused by luggage, equipment, or operator issues
  • Assist engineers with fault diagnostics and routine maintenance tasks
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and clean equipment and surrounding areas
  • Support BEUMER Group systems based on customer requirements
  • Monitor and report on system performance
  • Accurately log activities and part usage in the CMMS system

Work Environment:

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance on plant infrastructure and downstream extrusion machinery, including pullers, cutters, cooling systems, conveyors, and winding/packaging equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues such as misalignments, bearing failures, gear wear, drive chain and belt issues, and hydraulic/pneumatic leaks.
  • Maintain and service pumps, valves, gearboxes, rollers, and other rotating/mechanical assemblies critical to continuous operation.
  • Conduct mechanical adjustments and precision alignments to ensure consistent product quality and minimal downtime.
  • Inspect and replace wear parts (seals, bearings, bushings, belts, blades, rollers) according to schedules and equipment condition.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new downstream equipment, ensuring proper alignment, anchoring, and integration into existing lines.
  • Assist with equipment modifications and upgrades to improve performance, efficiency, and safety.
  • Interpret basic diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals to determine work procedures.
  • Diagnose, locate the cause of, and repair malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement through reliability efforts and root cause failure analysis.
  • Carryout oral/printed work request and apply corrective measures in a timely fashion.
  • Have intermediate grasp of related mechanical requirements and apply corrective measures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, downtime events, and spare parts usage in the CMMS system.
  • Fulfill mechanical requirements of work orders and trouble shooting and repairs c/w requesting assistance where necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Communicate daily repair activity with Supervisors and with other Departments.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and plant maintenance standards.

Qualifications

  • Background in mechanical systems (millwrighting, heavy-duty equipment repair, HVAC, or related fields) formal trade certification is an asset but not required.
  • Hands-on maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or extrusion environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, belts, and gear systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical diagrams and equipment manuals.
  • Skilled with basic fabrication, welding, rigging, and use of precision measuring tools.
  • Experience maintaining HVAC, compressed air, or industrial cooling systems is an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or within a team.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new systems in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Familiarity with downstream extrusion is considered an asset.
  • Ability to complete work orders and organize and plan daily tasks with minimal supervision.

Work Environment

  • Plant environment 24-7, 2 shift operation.
  • Dayshift: 6 am - 6 pm
  • A fast-paced work environment with multiple, tight, and changing priorities
  • Willing to work at heights

The Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Able to repair and maintain equipments with minimum assistance.
  • Maintenance of plant equipment, inspection, damage assessment of the root cause, and determine proper repairs and testing equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and machinery.
  • Assist and repair pumps, compressors, hydraulic systems, break press, shears, roll forming machines, punch presses, welding machines.
  • Assist in training other employees and Maintenance Mechanic trainees.
  • Adhere to all Life Savings Rules, including Lock out tag/out (LOTO), Machine guarding, / Bypassing safety controls, powered industrials Truck (PIT) safety protocols; OHSA, Safety Policies.
  • Adhere and follow to all other Atkore policies, such as harassment, free workplace of Drug and alcohol, Respect and Harassment, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of maintenance technician experience in a manufacturing plant is required.
  • Three (3) years of manufacturing and fabrication experience is required.
  • Millwright Certification preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills are required.
  • Positive approach, self-motivated, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Eager and interest to learn continuously in manufacturing environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to work both as a member of a team, a team leader or as an individual contributor.
