About the Role:

A bout the Role
This is a 16 month co-op term within the Systems Operations Engineering team. You will be responsible for supporting the processes that test and validate customer deliverable products as executed by highly skilled factory technicians. The System Operations Engineering team is comprised of two groups, projects and frontline roles where each have specific but also similar responsibilities. + Interface with the shop floor and other internal departments including Design Engineering and Quality.
+ Derive test procedures from the design intent, within the Manufacturing Execution System.
+ Support the Operations Systems Engineering team by:
+ Contributing and owning actions to larger scope projects.
+ Supporting root cause, identifying data trends and systemic issues.
+ Providing direction to technicians in the troubleshooting of system level faults.
+ Streamline processes through the Value Stream, using a business case that includes return on investment.
+ Utilize creative freedom to innovate new processes and input to the design during New Product Introduction.

• SPE / PEng designation (or eligible) with 10+ years progressive QA technical & leadership experience is required - plus ES experience would be ideal but not essential

+ Manage and/or generate systems engineering related documentation of legacy and newly developed products (specifications, schematics, Interface Control Documents, test requirements/plans, ongoing maintenance) in support of projects.
+ Demonstrate technical leadership in engineering programs requiring coordination across multiple internal/external teams and/or disciplines
+ Lead technical risk management - including identification, qualification, mitigation, and resolution
+ Make informed technical decisions to drive project success and conduct various technical analyses (power budget, link budget, or similar) to support decision making process

**Requirements**
+ Bachelor of Science or Engineering in Electrical, Computer, Systems Design, or equivalent.
+ 2 or more years of experience in a systems engineering, integration or development environment.
+ Experience with radar systems, Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, RF communications and hardware and software integration programs would be an asset.
+ Experience with Modeling and Simulation applications and architecture would be an asset.
+ Experience as a system architect or project engineer would be an asset.
+ Eligibility for professional registration with PEO (Professional Engineers of Ontario)
+ Experience with IBM DOORS would be beneficial
+ Experience with Atlassian Jira/Confluence preferred
+ Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
+ Must be able to work in a team environment.
+ Able to travel globally to visit customer or supplier sites for short periods of times

The Lead Systems Engineering (LSE) Specialist/Engineer is responsible for overseeing the system and subsystem-level requirements, design, integration, and compliance assessments of our products, ensuring they meet rigorous performance, safety, and operational requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of both mechanical, electrical, tactical and weapon systems, and the ability to lead a multidisciplinary team through the entire product lifecycle from concept to technical data package release. The LSE Specialist/Engineer is responsible for the development and execution of the design engineering process as well as development of requirements work products (SPS, SSPS, PDFS, SwRS, and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) work products).

• Lead the development of subsystem requirements in DOORS and/or Cameo, etc. for both Production and IR&D projects; and ensure all designs comply with the subsystem specifications needs. Engage with key stakeholders to makes sure requirements are aligned with customer and stakeholder needs.
• Support / document requirement allocations (Size, Weight, Power, Cooling, Reliability, etc).
• Develop and maintain requirements traceability to both customer requirements and internal GDLS standards.
• Contribute to the integration of subsystems into complete vehicle systems, including support of the testing and validation processes to confirm functionality, reliability, and safety under various operational conditions.
• Lead Design Maturity Review (DMR) meetings for assigned subsystems and assess maturity risk levels.
• Support Technical Liaison between the company and clients, regulatory bodies, and subcontractors.
• Employ the fundamentals of MBSE and systems engineering practices.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, design documentation, and specifications. Ensure all project documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
• Support the development of the System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and SE Planning Activities.
• Contribute to the Lessons learned database for active programs with respect to systems engineering processes.
• Support and contribute to the subsystem design description development by working with design engineering teams.
• Lead Systems Engineering activities (DMRs, Gates (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR), TPM and product deliverables (CDRLs)).
