ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

CGC Inc. is currently recruiting for an Engineering Technician for our gypsum plant, based in Hagersville, Ontario.
This position offers a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their technical expertise in a manufacturing operation within a large corporation. Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading projects in the board plant, coordinating improvements, utilizing technical training to advise and design various innovations as required in the facility. This role will require hands-on work on the production floor, coupled with technical project management. The successful candidate with be working with stakeholders at all levels from production operators to specialized technical experts.
The Engineering Technician is responsible for safety, quality and efficiency within the facility, which includes:
Process Improvement
- Evaluating existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Leading and participating in various LSS events from 5S projects, RCFA’s, and PM/Operator Basic Care optimization.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Leading teams in troubleshooting and problem-solving issues with production/maintenance personnel and the Engineering Department.
- Assist in training personnel related to continuous improvement projects/initiatives.
Project Management
- Managing plant projects related to continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and facility upgrades.
- Responsible for all aspects of projects from development to completion, including procurement and contractor supervision.
- Ensuring projects are executed safely and in compliance with local regulations and company policies.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performing other duties as required by management.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in engineering technology or similar is required.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing setting and experience using drafting software like CAD are considered assets.
- Ability to deliver clear, engaging presentations and facilitate meetings.
- Strong organization and project management skills.
- Analytical thinker with first experiences in continuous improvement.

+ Track, update, and manage maintenance activities and part records using a computerized maintenance management system.
+ Support planning and execution of job plans and preventive maintenance programs.
+ Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair industrial equipment to ensure reliable operation.

+ 2+ years experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with Solutions Architects and the Account Management Team to define the scope of the demonstration (demo) or proof of concept (POC) that will be done during the pre-sales phase of an opportunity
- Understand competitive offerings and position Evertz solutions to take maximum advantage of key differentiators and be able to present that confidently to our customers
- Have the opportunity to lead interoperability testing with 3rd party equipment
- Attend and prepare equipment for Tradeshows Worldwide to showcase Evertz IP solutions
- Travel as required to client sites to present demo/POC system to client
- Report bugs or gaps to R&D as identified during system configurations
- Preparation of detailed operations manual including system configurations, workflows, power consumption, rack elevations etc.
- Work with R&D by testing Evertz products in order to gain standards certifications
- Staying informed of latest industry trends and competitors' solutions
- Utilize programming/scripting (C++, Java, Python, Perl, JavaScript, shell)

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Water Resource Team Lead, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Preparing engineering drawings and topographic maps using AutoCAD Civil 3D for river restoration, flood mitigation, erosion control, and watercourse crossing projects, which includes the following: - Preparing plan, profile, grading and section drawings.
- Develop and edit complex terrain models and surfaces.
- Preparing presentation graphics and report figures.
- Support hydrologic and hydraulic modelling efforts by integrating survey data, GIS Inputs and specifications into CAD deliverables.
- Coordinating project drawings with project managers, technical staff and others within Stantec's western Canada offices.
- Ensuring that the projects' needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
- Understanding and adhering to Stantec standards.
- Assist in quantity take-offs and cost estimations by extracting data from CAD models.
- Organizing and maintaining a design and CAD digital file database for each project.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience and familiarity with river, drainage or wetland restoration, flood mitigation, erosion control or watercourse crossing projects.
- Strong communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities and a willingness to work in a team atmosphere
- Highly organized, have significant attention to detail, are able to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments
- Experience with MS Office Suite including Word, and Excel
- Experience with TIN surface modelling development and Corridors is considered an asset.
Education and Experience
- A CAD Technologist Diploma/Civil Technologist Diploma
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience, and a comfortable familiarity with Civil 3D (2023)
