(Permanent Full Time – Existing Position)
The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking an energetic and self-motivated individual to perform the full time duties and responsibilities of the Engineering Technician.
General Responsibilities: Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, this position will provide technical assistance in the preparation of town standards and policies, maintain municipal asset management inventory systems including streetlighting equipment and roadway signage, review and comment / approval on Infill Lot Grading and Drainage Plans, utility Municipal Consent applications, as well as Road Occupation Permit applications, traffic data collection and reporting, respond to general inquiries, provide computer assisted drafting/mapping services, surveying, inspection and reports.
Qualifications:
- Possess a Civil Engineering Technician or Technology diploma and be eligible for C.Tech. or C.E.T. designation and membership with OACETT coupled with two years relevant experience;
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Windows and Office applications, AutoCAD Civil 3D software, G.I.S. ArcView and construction survey instruments and techniques, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, relevant legislation/guidelines/policies and procedures including the Ontario Traffic Manuals;
- Knowledge of municipal infrastructure design and drafting, plans review, subdivision development, storm water management and lot grading, design and contract administration of municipal infrastructure projects;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to deal independently, courteously and professionally in any situation and work with and contribute positively to a service oriented team;
- Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s License in good standing and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business;
- Current and acceptable drivers’ abstract and criminal reference check.
Hourly Wage Range: $ 42.95 - $ 50.24 (35 hour/week)

- Work with Lean resources, maintenance, production and quality to achieve targets.
- Work with suppliers/inspectors on capital projects, facility modifications, code compliance issues
- Work effectively as a team member to ensure goals are achieved and any remedial action is actively pursued.
- Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives as they relate to site as assigned (5S, value stream mapping, set-up reduction etc.)
- Promote an environment of continuous improvement and teamwork.
- Remain current with relevant industry and production technologies in order to advance the manufacturing processes within the facility.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Engineering degree/diploma and/or related courses & work experience.
- Lean certification or applicable equivalent work experience recommended.
- MS Office, conducting presentations.
- Blueprint reading.
- Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience working as an effective team player.

The Position
AllRock Consulting is a fast growing Geotechnical/Materials Engineering firm that is looking for a talented Junior to Intermediate Civil/Field Engineering Technologist for part-time or full-time work. This is a unique opportunity to deliver engineering services on a wide variety of exciting projects across Newfoundland.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform quality control/quality assurance testing and field inspection on various infrastructure and construction projects.
- Laboratory and field testing of soils and aggregates.
- Laboratory and field testing of cementitious products (i.e., concrete, grout).
- Inspection and field testing during asphalt placement operations.
- Placing and assisting in Vibration Monitoring projects.
- Pile Driving Monitoring.
- Assisting project managers with field and lab staff coordination.
- Assisting project manager and engineers with report writing.
- Prepare and circulate testing results to clients.
- Collaborating with various AllRock staff to best serve the needs of our diverse client base.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Completion of a College program in Civil Engineering Technology.
- Maintain a full and valid drivers license.
- Have access to a vehicle for transportation to and from construction sites.
- 2+ Years of Materials testing experience.
- Hold a valid CCIL certification.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency with spoken and written English is required.
- Strong capability to develop and maintain relationships with clients and all team members.
- Ability to fill out reports and other technical documents clearly.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel).
