Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Preparation of plan, profile and detail drawings for a variety of land development and municipal infrastructure projects including, but not limited to, site plans, subdivisions, road reconstructions, water/wastewater facilities.
- Field work including construction site inspection, detailed topographic site surveys, and construction layout
- Completing design calculations for storm sewers, sanitary sewers, watermains and stormwater management facilities.
- Preliminary and detailed design of grading, drainage and servicing plans for land development and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Development of construction cost estimates, form of tenders, construction specifications and contract documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education in a civil engineering technology program or equivalent experience.
- Aptitude to work with the following software packages: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills.
- Possess strong oral, written communication skills.
- Physical and environmental requirements for this position are available upon request.
Considered Assets:
- Knowledge of stormwater management practices and low impact development strategies.
- Knowledge of the Revit software package.
- Past construction experience will be considered an asset.
- Previous design related experience.
- Experience with consulting services working in a multi-disciplinary design environment.

What youll do:
- Design and Development: Contribute to the mechanical design and development of robotic subsystems and components, from concept to production. You'll work on specific parts of larger projects, gaining exposure to the full product lifecycle.
- Prototyping and Testing: Build and test prototypes, design and conduct experiments, and collect data to validate designs and identify areas for improvement.
- Product Sustaining & Continuous Improvement: Actively support and enhance existing robotic products by investigating issues, implementing design improvements, and optimizing performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness throughout their lifecycle.
- DFM and Manufacturing Support: Work with senior engineers and vendors to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, assembly, and cost-effectiveness. You will also work with Production to integrate practical manufacturing considerations into your designs.
- Documentation: Create clear engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Collaboration: Work effectively within cross-functional teams, actively participating in design reviews and contributing to problem-solving discussions.
- Continuous Learning: Embrace opportunities to learn new tools, processes, and engineering principles, contributing to the ongoing improvement of our design workflows.
What were looking for:
- Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the robotics or automation industries, or in a related field involving complex electromechanical systems.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (On-Shape preferred).
- Understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA) principles.
- Familiarity with various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding).
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- A strong desire to learn and grow within a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that may include criminal/civil background checks
Bonus points if you have:
- Passion for robotics and a desire to work on cutting-edge technology.
- Understanding of GD&T and its application in mechanical design.
- Experience in designing plastic components.
- Basic understanding of electrical, software, or firmware principles as they relate to mechanical design.
- Experience with FEA, thermal analysis, or other simulations.
- Experience in using Jira & Confluence.
- Familiarity with PLM tools (like Arena PLM).

- Deep technical expertise in Swift, Kotlin, Android/iOS SDKs, and architectural patterns like TCA, MVVM, VIPER, or Clean Architecture.

- Support the production line in resolving day-to-day production issues, acting as the first line of technical support for operators.
- Work with the engineering team and suppliers to improve product manufacturability, increase quality, and reduce cost.
- Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes and standard work instructions.
- Lead process validation and capability studies (e.g., PFMEA, process flow, control plans).
- Specify, design, and implement production tooling, jigs, and fixtures to improve assembly efficiency, safety, and ergonomics.
- Plan and optimize line layouts, capacity, and workflow for scaling production.
- Manage the change management process for production-related changes.
- Update and maintain engineering and production documentation, including BOMs and assembly instructions.
- Lead and develop 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Quality to establish robust root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in manufacturing processes.

What were looking for:
- BSc. or College degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (minimum 3-year program) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and new product introduction (NPI) engineering.
- Strong mechanical and electrical technical background is required.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills and a willingness to be on the production floor.
- Experience collaborating with design teams to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
Demonstrated experience working with products throughout the product lifecycle, from prototype to full-scale production. - Knowledge of quality systems, process validation, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with engineering change management systems.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools.
- Proficiency in CAD and ERP systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Epicor or equivalent).
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience with robotics.
- Experience in the cleaning industry/floor scrubbing machines.
- Experience scaling production of complex electro-mechanical products.
- Knowledge of automation, test systems, and data-driven manufacturing.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
