The Position
AllRock Consulting is a fast growing Geotechnical/Materials Engineering firm that is looking for a talented Junior to Intermediate Civil/Field Engineering Technologist for part-time or full-time work. This is a unique opportunity to deliver engineering services on a wide variety of exciting projects across Newfoundland.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform quality control/quality assurance testing and field inspection on various infrastructure and construction projects.
- Laboratory and field testing of soils and aggregates.
- Laboratory and field testing of cementitious products (i.e., concrete, grout).
- Inspection and field testing during asphalt placement operations.
- Placing and assisting in Vibration Monitoring projects.
- Pile Driving Monitoring.
- Assisting project managers with field and lab staff coordination.
- Assisting project manager and engineers with report writing.
- Prepare and circulate testing results to clients.
- Collaborating with various AllRock staff to best serve the needs of our diverse client base.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Completion of a College program in Civil Engineering Technology.
- Maintain a full and valid drivers license.
- Have access to a vehicle for transportation to and from construction sites.
- 2+ Years of Materials testing experience.
- Hold a valid CCIL certification.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency with spoken and written English is required.
- Strong capability to develop and maintain relationships with clients and all team members.
- Ability to fill out reports and other technical documents clearly.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel).

With new projects on the horizon, we are seeking an Engineering Technologist to support subdivision development, building approvals, and construction delivery.
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technologist to join our planning and construction team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in engineering or technology, with experience in various fields such as architectural design, construction, and project management. The Technologist will support the full life cycle of residential development. This role focuses on subdivision design, municipal approval processes, and technical oversight during construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Support subdivision planning, including preparing preliminary layouts, servicing concepts, and coordination with engineers, planners, and municipal staff.
- Liaise with municipal planners, engineers, and approval agencies to secure subdivision and building permits.
- Assist with applications for zoning amendments, site plan approvals, variances, and development agreements.
- Prepare applications for residential building permits
- Conduct site visits and inspections to confirm compliance with subdivision agreements, engineering drawings, and building codes.
- Monitor subdivision servicing (roads, water, sewer, drainage) and coordinate with contractors and consultants.
- Utilize AutoCAD LT software for drafting and design tasks.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be permitted to work in Canada.
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation (or eligibility for registration) with recognized provincial association would be an asset.
- Diploma in Civil or Architectural Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of training and experience would be an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft Project is a plus.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD LT.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration within teams and presentations to stakeholders.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in subdivision development, land use planning support, or residential construction.
- Strong understanding of national building code, municipal development approval processes, and subdivision servicing standards.
- An interest in the adoption of AI processes.
- Valid driver's license and ability to attend projects at municipal sites.

Tasks may include:
