Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an opening for seasoned and dynamic environmental manager. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and delivering complex infrastructure projects such as: transportation, ports, and power-related (hydro, LNG) environmental planning projects in Western Canada, with experience in federal and provincial laws and regulations. Additionally, we are looking for someone with proven experience in Design-Build, Progressive Design Build and Alliance contract models. The person in this position will work with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams comprised of internal peers, clients, and subconsultants.

**Location**
This position will begin based out of our Burnaby, BC office, reporting to the Senior Environmental Manger.
**Responsibilities**
You will be responsible for coordinating environmental permitting, reports, and technical documentation, as well as managing tasks and mentoring/leading junior staff and other team members in the delivery of environmental products.
+ Support in the review and develop the environmental aspects (e.g., scheduling, estimates, risk assessment, etc.) for proposals and project delivery.
+ Assist in the delivery of environmental SOP's for proposals and projects.
+ Provide guidance and support to less experienced staff on technical and professional issues.
+ Collaborate and assist in developing implementation of strategies and risk assessments for delivering environmental components of projects.
+ Inform scheduling and estimating teams regarding environmental permitting requirements.
+ Assist in the preparation of scope, schedule, and budget for new projects and providing technical responses to RFPs with related information and requirements.
+ Review documents that meet requirements for environmental approvals or re-evaluations, permit applications and permit amendments, environmental management plans and other required environmental submittals.
+ Collaborate with infrastructure planning, engineering, urban design/landscaping, project design management and other disciplines.
+ Assist with quality reviews of deliverables to client requirements to ensure high-quality products are being produced on time and on budget.
**Qualifications**
+ Over 10 years of experience in increasingly complex environmental regulatory planning and design roles, specifically within the infrastructure and transportation sector, including projects related to highways, bridges, ports, and other large infrastructure projects
+ Undergraduate degree in an environmental science, environmental engineering or related field.
+ Must be registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a RPBio with the College of Applied Biology in British Columbia
+ Background in fisheries and aquatics is an asset.
+ Strong working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation.
+ Mastery of Microsoft products to perform assigned tasks.
+ ESRI ArcGIS preferred but not required.
+ Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.

- Be the ambassador for coastal hydraulic engineering at Kiewit, building a strong and trusting relationship with the Western Canada Operating District and other operating districts that work on Marine, Ports, Maritime and Coast projects across Canada and USA.
- Working on preliminary engineering designs and EPC/design-build pursuits and projects; developing design recommendations and producing design deliverables; serving as lead coastal/hydraulic engineer and engineer of record with responsibility for design recommendations and deliverables.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering or Water Resources Engineering. A Master's degree or Ph.D. is an asset.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in coastal hydraulic engineering related to marine and coastal infrastructure.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, particularly in the context of being an ambassador for the coastal hydraulics discipline.
- Experience in metocean analyses and hydraulic modelling, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and experience in the quality control of these.

**Location**
This position will be based out of our Bellevue, WA or Burnaby, BC location and includes travel to project offices and work sites. Opportunities for flexible work are available.
**Responsibilities**
+ Support of the bid phase development of innovative and cost-effective design
+ Work with and provide direction to the interdisciplinary engineering team and design subcontractors to develop competitive, cost-effective designs
+ Working within the pursuit team during the bid phase to help identify key design risks and develop plans to mitigate risks
+ Advance bid phase design concepts to IFC designs for successful pursuits
+ Oversee engineering services during construction and field review efforts during execution phase
+ Support efforts to capture and spread design lessons learned and innovations to all Districts
+ Support the development of early and mid-career geotechnical engineers
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geological Engineering is required; Graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering is a plus
+ Experience as a qualified Geologist and/or and/or Geomorphologist would be an asset.
+ Must be registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
+ 15+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience with 10+ years providing geotechnical solutions **in ports and marine-related infrastructure projects**
+ Strong all-around academic knowledge of geotechnical engineering
+ Experience with design of docking structures such as combi-walls, sheet pile walls, tangent walls, cellular structures, experience with evaluating underwater slope stability and related impacts to pile supported structures, driven, drilled and rock socketed pile design.
+ Experience in seismic ground response analysis
+ Professional experience and capability with finite element software (PLAXIS 2-D, 3-D or FLAC)
+ Comprehension of pertinent standards and codes
+ Experience working in a team setting and directing the work of others
+ Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
+ Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment

**Responsibilities**
+ Develop drawings and calculations for temporary works and construction methods including:
+ Heavy lift plans (site logistics, equipment selection, design of custom rigging and lifting devices, hoisting and jacking systems, custom tools, and crane pad designs)
+ Erection procedures or planned sequences related to construction or demolition operations
+ Evaluation of existing structures for construction loads and/or demolition planning

Your Key Responsibilities
Land development is a complex endeavor that requires understanding of multiple engineering, urban planning, landscape architecture and construction disciplines. Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Must have a thorough understanding of land development including site grading, sanitary and storm sewer servicing, water servicing, shallow utility coordination, roadway, lot design, as well as a general understanding of stormwater engineering concepts.
- Experience in the province of British Columbia is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of the life cycle of land development projects from the land review stage through to permits, servicing agreements, tender, construction and project close-out.
- Must be a self-motivated individual possessing strong written and verbal communication skills.
