The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is seeking a competent, confident, motivated individual to fill the position of Highschool English Language Arts Teacher at Father Gamache Memorial School, located in Fond Du Lac, Saskatchewan. In this role, you will provide strong interpersonal skills, commitment to learning and teaching in project-based ways and provide an enthusiastic learning environment for students.

The ADEA is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan; Black Lake First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, and Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1,400 students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest technology, progressively piloting programs, and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom and school curriculum.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Be aware of any allergies a student may have.
  • Establish clear instructional direction to support a positive learning climate in the context of the Denesuline culture and language.
  • Provide positive ways for classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of all students.
  • Plan and organize materials ahead of time.
  • Assess and document student learning daily.
  • Assess and maintain student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school related activities.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be patient, flexible, observant, and passionate.
  • Must have communications skills such as: verbal and nonverbal, active listening, and empathy.
  • Must have strong understanding of the following programs and assessments: Effective Practices, Policies and Guidelines; Saskatchewan Curriculum.
  • To follow the provincial Ministry of Education curricula and focuses on holistic child development including the social-emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual domains.
  • Actively engage with families, children, and community members to understand their backgrounds and experiences to support an equitable and inclusive school environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents and community.
  • Maintain confidentiality of students and other professional information

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or equivalent
  • A recognized post-secondary Diploma as an English Language Arts Teacher or equivalent post-secondary education in a related area from a recognized institution would be an asset.
  • Must be eligible for or possess a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate.
  • Experience in teaching First Nations students in a remote community would be an asset.
  • First Aid Certification would be an asset.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelors degree in French, Education, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.

  • Effective communicator with a positive and flexible attitude.

Services company is seeking an English teacher and coach for both current and new employees. Someone experienced in one on one and group classes both online and in person.


Will work with various backgrounds, cultures, and language levels.


  • Plan and update English courses ensuring an engaging program that improves students level in a real-world context.
  • Design and create program curriculums for Immigration, Academic, and Business needs.
  • Design, plan and help create Teaching Material.
  • Test, Evaluate, and Assess students levels and needs related to English learning.
  • Plan and carry out official Test Preparation for students.
  • Plan, assess, and conduct individual students' work Interview Preparation when needed.
  • Assessing students' language needs and planning lessons in accordance with Course Curriculum and Student Progress Reports for the level being taught.
  • Creating an atmosphere that encourages all students equally in self-expression, self-reflection, cooperation, and leadership.
  • Evaluating progress and conferring with students individually according to the specifics outlined in a Progress Report.
  • Building students vocabulary acquisition for formal and informal situations e.g. dialogues, discussion, role-plays, outings.
  • Supporting and encouraging students to self-correct.
  • Evaluating and offering feedback to the students in ways that increase their self-confidence in using English.
  • Other related duties
