In this role you will work alongside the local operations, and Divisional/Group Health & Safety team to ensure the company’s operations comply with OHSA and other regulatory agencies, company policies, and industry best practice. The successful candidate will develop, monitor, and continuously improve the company’s health & Safety functions.

Overview of role
We're looking for a proactive and people-oriented EHS Specialist to join our growing team. Based out of Halifax, NS , you’ll lead and support environmental, health, and safety programs across our Halifax and Stoney Creek locations plus future sites across Eastern Canada.

What you’ll be doing
- Lead day-to-day EHS activities across multiple sites, including site walkthroughs, hazard analysis, and compliance checks.

Requirements
- 2–4 years of EHS experience in industrial, warehousing, or plant settings. Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Science preferred (but not required).

- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills; you can manage multiple priorities and communicate clearly both in-person and virtually.

- Self-motivated and able to work independently while staying connected to a remote team.

Job Qualifications:
- Education : A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Common fields of study include Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related discipline. Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) are beneficial.
- Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in an EHS leadership role in the manufacturing industry or similar. Preferably in the automotive or plastics plastic industry.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001/ISO/45001 standards
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices. Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes and potential EHS risks associated with them. Knowledge of Canadian Federal and State OHS Acts, Policies, Regulations, Codes, and Practices for areas of operation, and knowledge of Canadian Federal and State environmental regulations and laws
- Analytical Skills: Ability to conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and incident investigations. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to track EHS performance and identify trends.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for training, reporting, and liaising with regulatory agencies, employees, and management.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities to identify root causes of incidents and develop effective corrective actions.
