Responsibilities:
- Administer Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs and environmental initiatives to ensure compliance.
- Conduct thorough audits for ISO 14001, 18000, and IATF 16949 safety standards.
- Chair Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and oversee investigations.

- Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading Joint Health and Safety Committees.

In this role you will work alongside the local operations, and Divisional/Group Health & Safety team to ensure the company’s operations comply with OHSA and other regulatory agencies, company policies, and industry best practice. Overview of role
We're looking for a proactive and people-oriented EHS Specialist to join our growing team. Based out of Halifax, NS , you’ll lead and support environmental, health, and safety programs across our Halifax and Stoney Creek locations plus future sites across Eastern Canada.
You’ll play a hands-on role in shaping our safety culture, supporting compliance efforts, and ensuring a healthy, hazard-aware workplace. This is a high-impact, field-forward role that blends compliance, training, risk assessment, and cross-site collaboration.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead day-to-day EHS activities across multiple sites, including site walkthroughs, hazard analysis, and compliance checks.
- Deliver safety training , support new hire onboarding, and ensure contractor safety programs are in place and effective.
- Conduct and update Risk Assessments on new and existing equipment, processes, and materials.
- Participate in projects and process changes as the EHS voice at the table ensuring safe and compliant rollouts.
- Prepare and submit annual regulatory reports ; maintain permits and ensure environmental compliance at all locations.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of EHS experience in industrial, warehousing, or plant settings. Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Science preferred (but not required).
- Familiarity with key Canadian EHS regulations (e.g. CEPA, CCOHS, CanOSH) and provincial OHS requirements.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills; you can manage multiple priorities and communicate clearly both in-person and virtually.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident in using EHS documentation systems and databases.
- Comfortable conducting safety training, audits, and walkabouts - you're a confident presence on the floor.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while staying connected to a remote team.
