How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Ensure all housekeeping tasks are performed in compliance with Sodexo’s health and safety policies.
- Audit and monitor team performance, providing support and training for their shifts.
- Coordinate the activities of housekeeping staff in a fast-paced environment, ensuring efficiency and quality.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for all employees and guests throughout the facility.
- Monitor employee productivity and offer suggestions to improve service and efficiency.
- Ensure health and safety policies are consistently followed and enforced.
- Conduct daily inspections of rooms, common areas, and general spaces within the hospital.
- Manage day-to-day assignments alongside leadership responsibilities.
- Collaborate with customers to ensure satisfaction in areas such as quality, service, and issue resolution.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Minimum of 2 years of Supervisory experience
- Experience in Environmental Services is required
- Healthcare environment experience is preferred
- Ability to work 2-3 shifts with flexibility to take on additional hours or shifts as needed
- Has reliable transportation and a valid G or G2 driver's license (mandatory)
- Proven ability to provide quality audits and training
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Completion or current enrollment in OHHA or CAEM is preferred
- TDG and WHMIS Certification Required

# **Job Summary**
Supervises, trains and inspects the performance of assigned housekeeping staff to ensure all procedures are completed to unit's standards.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
- Maintain responsibility and accountability for Personnel Management Functions of the department. Personnel Management includes new associate interviews, selection, hiring, evaluation and on occasion termination in accordance with Compass Standards, Client Contract and applicable Union Collective Agreement.
- Coordinate and support all relevant activities of the housekeeping and linen department with a special emphasis on Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety.
- Maintain responsibility and accountability for the Financial Management of the costs and expenses of the budget for the site.
- Develop and follows appropriate policies, procedures, job routines to meet the needs of the site.
- Conduct regular inventory of housekeeping supplies and order these, keeping costs in line with approved budgetary amounts.
- Ensure assigned staff have reported to work and clocked in properly; document late or absent employees.
- Document call offs, and replace for any shift and coordinate assigned staff breaks.
- Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to staff and review priorities. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
- Assign designated keys, radios and beepers to assigned staff. Maintain accurate record of such assignments and ensure security of keys.
- Check all equipment used by staff for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to correct deficiencies.
- Assist staff to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and service and conduct staff training as assigned.
**Qualifications:**

- Post-secondary diploma, degree or related experience required
- Professional Healthcare Housekeeper's Certificate (PHH) preferred
- Successful completion of the OHA Environmental Management Level 1 and Level 2
- Minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience within a unionized environment required
- Membership or qualification to become a member of the CAEM and OHHA
- Proven healthcare Environmental Services experience and working knowledge of all healthcare housekeeping and related regulated infection control practices and processes and knowledge of PIDAC, RICN etc.
- Proven ability to manage supply/labour budgets to include labour relations and compliance within the local and central collective agreements of unionized staff. Monitoring performance and hospital policies within a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge and experience with various regulatory guidelines i.e. WHMIS, Ministry Waste Guidelines, OH&S Act required
- Demonstrated ability to manage operations and staff, establishing and maintaining quality standards, infection control practices, outbreak prevention, linen utilization and the various streams of general, recycling, biomedical, hazardous and confidential waste handling etc.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement departmental policies and procedures and ongoing operational changes to area job routines, programs and systems to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, staff development with emphasis on team building
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
- Experience using Microsoft Access would be preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as a team and have initiative to continuously improve processes.

Staying up-to-date on environmental regulations related to waste management and ensuring that all activities adhere to these standards.
Implementing initiatives to minimize waste generation at the source, such as promoting the use of reusable materials and optimizing material usage.
Tracking waste generation, recycling rates, and disposal costs, preparing reports on waste management performance, and identifying areas for improvement.
Communicating with contractors, subcontractors, waste management companies, and regulatory bodies to ensure effective waste management throughout the project lifecycle.

-Maintains the staffing schedules as applicable,
-Promotes the vision, mission, values, and the Residents’ Bill of Rights,
-Supervises fire prevention and fire drill procedures,
-Is a Certified Joint Health and Safety Member and participates in all inspections and meetings as part of that role,
-Any and all other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
-Post-secondary degree or diploma preferred,
-Two (2) years experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity is preferred,
-Experience in general maintenance and repair,
-Ability to lead a team by setting an example in a direct and positive manner,
-Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing and carpentry,
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written,
-Skilled in conflict management techniques,
-Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting is an asset,
-Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors,
-Demonstrated experience in managing a budget,
-Is familiar with the provisions of the following legislation: Employment Standards Act, Workers’ Compensation Act, Retirement Homes Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act,
-Proficient in Microsoft Office,
-Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results from less than 6 months old and must be able to provide three supervisory references.
