- Has reliable transportation and a valid G or G2 driver's license (mandatory)
- Proven ability to provide quality audits and training
- Exceptional organizational skills

- TDG and WHMIS Certification Required

Job DescriptionReporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, you will be responsible for the efficient supervision of day-to-day operations in the Environmental Services Department.
- The successful incumbent will supervise the daily operations of Environmental Services including, cleaning & sanitation with working knowledge of all housekeeping procedures and practices
- Conduct regular inventory of housekeeping supplies, Check all equipment used by staff for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems
- Document call offs, and employee performance concerns
- Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to staff and review priorities.
- You will ensure that all work practices are in keeping with Hospital, Departmental, and legislated standards (e.g. PIDAC, Public Health, Workplace Safety and OH&S Act).
- You will be responsible for the labor management of staff, providing employee technical and non-technical training, coaching and development, recruitment, orientation, performance and attendance management, discipline, quality audits, job shadowing and workload assessment
- Work closely with the nursing units, clinical areas and other non-clinical areas/departments
- Participate in patient safety activities, infection control, risk management and quality improvement to meet hospital and healthcare standards
- Successful completion of the CHHA Environmental Management Level 1 and Level 2 preferred
- Membership or qualification to become a member of the CAEM and CHHA required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Supervisor in a unionized environment, preference will be given to those who have previous experience in a hospital setting
- Working knowledge of WHMIS required
- Housekeeping and related regulated infection control practices and processes and knowledge of PIDAC, RICN etc. preferred
- Professional Healthcare Housekeeper's Certificate (PHH) preferred
- Proven ability to manage supply/labor budgets to include labor relations and compliance within the local and central collective agreements of unionized staff.
- Monitoring performance and hospital policies within a healthcare environment.
- Excellent time management skills and proven initiative
- Must be self-directed with excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage operations and staff, establishing and maintaining quality standards, infection control practices, outbreak prevention, linen utilization and the various streams of general, recycling, biomedical, hazardous and confidential waste handling etc.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills both one-on-one and in-group situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.

The successful candidate will manage environmental site assessment, remediation, and risk assessment projects in our commercial and downstream oil and gas business sectors.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec's Health and Safety Program.
- Create and lead a positive safety culture on all projects.
- Develop detailed scopes of work and cost estimates to execute Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and contaminated site investigations (i.e., Phase II ESAs) in soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapor.
- Work with other technical professionals and subcontractors to develop remedial options and risk assessment / management strategies.
- Develop detailed scopes of work and cost estimates to execute chosen remedial and/or site management strategies and coordinate with subcontractors.
- Manage budget, scope, quality, and timelines on a variety of medium to large sized projects and/or client portfolios.
- Analyze and interpret project data and prepare technical reports that meet client and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with field staff and technical discipline leaders during project execution.
- As required, conduct and/or lead field work on complex projects and mentor field staff on field execution.
- Maintain positive client relationships and communicate project status on a routine basis.
- Participate in marketing and business development activities and initiatives with current and/or new clients to grow and expand Stantec's environmental services.
- Interface with other Stantec departments and promote SIR services.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other project managers to properly resource SIR projects.
- Participate and/or lead regular project meetings.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Knowledge of project management as related to contaminated site investigation and remediation projects.
- Strong understanding of Alberta Tier 1 and 2 soil and groundwater remediation guidelines and site-specific risk assessment.
- Strong technical aptitude and technical writing ability.
- Ability to manage people while overseeing projects.
- Ability to work well and self-motivate in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to mentor and supervise junior staff.
- Strong organizational and communications skills (able to communicate solutions in writing, verbally and graphically).
- Ability to prioritize work and make responsible decisions that can be defended.
- Travel may be required for the purpose of overseeing field crews, participating in off-site meetings, or training. However, this position is primarily office based.
Education and Experience
Degree or diploma in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field.
Professional designation (e.g., P.Eng, P.Geo, P.Chem, P.Ag., etc.) recognized in AB.
Minimum five (5) years executing field work related to soil, groundwater, and/or soil vapor investigations.
Minimum three (5) years of coordinating and/or managing soil and groundwater investigation and/or remediation projects.
Demonstrated commitment to health and safety policies and procedures
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
