We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Engineer to lead the design of complex skid-mounted process piping systems focused on hydrogen isotope management and other specialized applications.
Key Responsibilities:
· Serve as lead Process Engineer during the initial phases of engineering projects.
· Develop detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and stream diagrams to define system architecture.

Reporting to the Manager, Production Irradiator Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, testing and on-going technical and manufacturing support of production irradiator components.
You will work closely with the Project Management office and the Production Irradiator Controls team to deliver projects on-time and on budget.

Lead or participate in all aspects of the design and manufacture of irradiator components and assemblies. Stay current with the requirements for production irradiators for both dry and wet storage panoramic irradiators.

The Mechanical Engineer provides a suite of engineering services related to decarbonization, integrating innovative technologies and applying sustainability principles externally and internally. In this role the Engineer will deliver top quality technical results, grow our existing business base and contribute to attraction and retention of top talent. This role typically reports directly to the Senior Director, Energy & Sustainability.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the ESS Team mission of decarbonizing our operations through delivering best-in-class engineering services.
- Ensure alignment of internal initiatives and the strategic vision with external service offerings and vice versa.
- Create opportunities for collaboration between Black & McDonald business lines and regions to support overall business transformation and technical alignment
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering services that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Identify opportunities to enhance service offerings and expand technical capabilities.
- Contribute to business development by providing technical expertise in customer proposals and pitches.
- Support on technical sales: oversight of collaboration with vendors and subcontractors, development and maintenance of internal QA/QC processes
- Demonstration of leadership through technical excellence, motivation and development of new and existing employees.
- Maintaining the most up to date knowledge on energy engineering and modeling standards, tools and strategies as well as developing respective business cases for investment in these standards and tools
- Collaboration with key individuals at Black & McDonald as well as external partners and vendors to assess emerging technologies as it supports the ESS Strategy.

- Strong understanding of facilities management and technical services.
- Can successfully implement major energy, sustainability and technology projects that meet the objectives of excellence in a dynamic environment
- Superior leadership competencies and strong communication skills in order develop collaborative relationships with a diverse group of constituents
- Ability to translate overall goals and strategic objectives into operational plans and ensure execution through the co-operation of people, leveraging the ESS team members as well as key individuals across B&M that interact with ESS in an effective way
- Ability to leverage business objectives into realization of project work while ensuring stakeholder expectations are met
- Skilled communicator and listener that can effectively demonstrate a holistic approach to meeting corporate goals and agendas to a diverse audience
- Curious, creative and insightful leader and thinker with strong problem solving, communication and presentation skills
- Working knowledge of government and agency incentives for energy and sustainability related projects on behalf of customers
- Diverse knowledge and experience with various software including MS Office, energy management and monitoring, ASHRAE compliant energy modelling, RETScreen, building automation systems (BAS), etc
- Advanced technical expertise in energy engineering, system operations and reporting
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems and their effect on the total building energy consumption
- Broad knowledge of energy consuming systems including generation, transmission and storage within facilities, infrastructure and construction
SKILLED REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Registered P. Eng. in good standing in New Brunswick
- 5+ years of Engineering experience
- 5+ years demonstrated leadership, understanding and delivery of energy and sustainability technical services in a large complex organization including varying levels of stakeholders
- Ability to think strategically with the ability to understand technical detail to guide technicians, subcontractors and vendors to manage the day to day activities of the immediate team
- Certified Energy Manager or equivalent
