The position requires that the candidate be available to work various shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends and statutory holidays.

On-site/Off-site training is provided. Also made available to all employees are opportunities to participate in various workshops to further develop skills and knowledge on how to better support our clients.


Pay:

  • $23.00- $6.00 per hour (inclusive of the government wage enhancement) to start.

Direct Support Professionals need to be familiar and adhere to the organization's core values and mission statement and must participate in the agency's training and workshops. The Overnight (awake) Direct Support Professional provides hygiene support and daily living support for all residents. The position entails cleaning, food preparation, room safety checks, and some clerical duties (ie; filing).

Overview and Purpose of the Role:

Reporting directly to Director of Professional Practice, Education & Academic Partnerships, this role focuses on the professional development of emerging leaders and the advancement of interprofessional education. The incumbent will work collaboratively with leadership and interprofessional clinical teams to identify staff learning needs and ensure the delivery of relevant clinical and educational programs for Health Disciplines staff within the Schroeder Ambulatory Centre (SAC).

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support and facilitate corporate and program-specific meetings and quality initiatives (e.g., Collaborative Practice Council, Professional Practice Leader meetings)

  • Partner with unit leadership to develop learning plans and support collaborative performance reviews

  • Oversee the professional development of clinical staff through education, mentorship and training

  • Identify knowledge or practice gaps and develop targeted competency-based education and training

  • Mentor current and potential preceptors, supporting a culture of continuous learning

  • Design, implement and evaluate professional development programs, including skills-based and e-Learning content

  • Validate new hire competencies using standardized checklists and onboarding tools

  • Coordinate and support onboarding processes, including student placements and orientation

  • Present during Interprofessional Orientation (IPO) and support new staff orientation with interdisciplinary teams

  • Liaise with academic institutions to foster partnerships and enhance student learning experiences

  • Baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline from an accredited university is required

  • Master’s degree in a health-related field from an accredited university is preferred (completed or in progress)

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of clinical experience in clinical, perioperative or procedural settings

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in teaching or leadership roles

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Direct Support Professional provides on-site, client-centered programming. Staff are responsible for assisting the residents in the participation of Life Skills Training, Personal and Self-Help Training, Arts & Crafts, Recreation and Leisure, as well as Educational Programs in various subject areas. Community integration is also a focus of the program.

Direct Support Professionals are responsible for creating and implementing therapeutic programming with an emphasis on life skills and personal development as well as client advocacy within and outside the agency. Direct Support Professionals need to be familiar and adhere to the organization's core values and mission statement and must participate in the agency's training and workshops. The Overnight (awake) Direct Support Professional provides hygiene support and daily living support for all residents. The position entails cleaning, food preparation, room safety checks, and some clerical duties (ie; filing).
