POSITION OVERVIEW

Reports to: Vice President, Exploration

Location: This position is based in Vancouver, and we welcome applications from diverse candidates across Canada who are open to relocating.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Director, Exploration is responsible for providing operational leadership and business expertise to optimise exploration investment across Eldorado’s global portfolio of properties, development projects and mining operations. Reporting to the Vice President, Exploration, the role has functional responsibility for jurisdictional exploration programs and teams. The Senior Director, Exploration drives and supports workflows and activities focused toward discovery of new gold and base metal resources, including execution oversight of definition and testing of opportunities for standalone development, in addition to enhancing and expanding resources to sustain existing mining operations. The role characterizes operational performance and enables continuous improvement, supports the assessment and mitigation of portfolio risks, and drives value creation in alignment with corporate objectives and sustainability goals. Demonstrable leadership in health, safety and sustainability, and promotion of Eldorado’s core values, is foundational to the role.


POSITION DETAILS

Strategic Exploration Leadership:

  • Co-develops and implements the global Exploration strategy aligned with the company’s business goals to enhance discovery of new gold and base metal resources and asset resource growth.
  • Supports jurisdictional Exploration Managers in the budgeting, planning and delivery of technically sound exploration programs, focused on safe operations, respect to environment and communities, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborates with jurisdictional Exploration Managers to develop operational management systems and define mid- to long-term strategic approaches to ensure correct deployment of Exploration's resources.
  • Collaborates with jurisdictional Exploration Managers, Mine Site/Development Project Geology and Site Leadership, and Corporate (Technical Services) Resource Geologists to define and implement strategies for asset resource growth, including identification of enablers and delivery risks.


Exploration Operational and Technical Leadership:

  • In collaboration with jurisdictional Exploration Managers, drives operationally safe and effective exploration programs supported by timely permitting, standardized procurement processes, and well-managed contractors and service providers.
  • Collaborates in the development, monitoring and benchmarking of project KDPs, KPIs and other metrics, and critically assesses Exploration operational performance metrics to inform improvement opportunities.
  • Ensures that technical objectives are met through program delivery, and agility to fast-track or exit projects based on new results is maintained.
  • Drives change management in the design and implementation of new exploration activities, technology adoption and software solutions that expedite workflows enabling faster decision-making.
  • Supports and guides systematic collection of geoscience, environmental and social data for decision-making, baseline, and investment purposes.
  • With a global view, identifies and recommends opportunities to optimize provider services and costs.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate standards in all jurisdictions of operation.
  • Supports workflows to rate and rank the portfolio based on geoscience, commercial, and above ground risk and opportunity criteria, and tied to economic metrics to demonstrate quality and value over time.


Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Collaborates with Exploration technical specialists, mine and development project geoscientists, field technicians, and safety and sustainability colleagues to ensure programs are operated to Company standards.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders including Technical Services, Finance, Legal, Procurement, Operations and Safety & Sustainability to align Exploration with broader business objectives.
  • Mentors and develops teams, fostering a high-performance, discovery-driven, and safety-focused culture.
  • Supports in communications and reporting of Exploration activities for internal and external purposes.
  • Represents the company with government authorities, partners and service partners as required.
  • Maintains an industry network as pertinent to Eldorado's commodities and jurisdictions of interest.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a Geoscience or related discipline, with current or eligible Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) status in Canada.
  • Extensive operational exploration experience in early-stage generative and near-/in-mine environments.
  • Proven track record in managing multiple exploration programs covering a range of geologic environments and mineral systems, in complex terrains, across multiple jurisdictions, and with diverse teams.
  • Proven track record in systematic exploration, including search space reduction and discovery of new ore bodies, resource expansion and characterization, and identification of reserve replacement opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Based at the corporate office in Vancouver, BC, with up to 30% international travel required.


The salary range for this position is $208,000 to $286,000. The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, taking into consideration internal equity. Qualified candidates with the required qualifications and relevant experience can expect an offer between the minimum and around the midpoint of the range. Progression toward the higher end of the range is based on higher qualifications and experience, or demonstrated performance in the role.

Tie multiple seismic datasets for time, amplitude, and phase consistency
Interpret target horizons and geologic features on 2D/3D/4D seismic data
Generate structure maps in time and depth; generate amplitude, and isochron maps
Create seismic attributes to identify and map geologic features and reservoirs
Understand the source of AVO (Amplitude Variation with Offset) and their relationship to hydrocarbon indicators (HCI)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to define and execute long-term exploration strategies that drive shareholder value.

  • Collaborate with consultants, labs, and contractors to uphold quality and accelerate delivery.
  • Support junior geologists in developing sound judgment and technical confidence.


Stakeholder Engagement & Representation

  • Communicate exploration results and strategic direction with clarity and impact to executives, investors, and board members.
  • Represent the company with poise and credibility at conferences, community events, and technical forums.
  • Align messaging and priorities with IR and executive teams, ensuring consistency and strategic resonance.


Cross Functional Collaborations

  • Work closely with the CEO, the Executive and IR teams to align exploration priorities with corporate messaging and financial planning.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, labs, and contractors to maintain quality and accelerate timelines.
  • Act as a Qualified Person (QP) for technical disclosures and public reporting.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field.
  • 15+ years in mineral exploration, including 5+ years in senior leadership.
  • Proven success in resource discovery and development.
  • Deep knowledge of NI 43-101 reporting and compliance.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience across diverse geological settings and jurisdictions.

The Mullings Group Search Canada has partnered with our client, Tectonic Metals, in the search for a Vice President of Exploration (VPX) to join their team. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of Tectonic’s dynamic gold exploration initiatives, drive meaningful discoveries, and mentor the next generation of geoscientific leaders.


With a demonstrated track record as a proven industry leader, paired with a strong record of gold exploration, discovery, resource delineation, and project advancement, this individual will need deep experience in managing exploration teams and delivering results that have advanced assets from early-stage discovery through to resource estimation and feasibility studies. Experience with intrusion-related and/or RIRGS-style gold systems, as well as familiarity with North American jurisdictions, is considered a strong asset.


The VPX will be a key executive leader responsible for advancing Tectonic’s exploration and resource growth strategy while upholding the highest standards of health, safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development. As an impactful and influential leader with a track record of success, this individual will make a lasting contribution to Tectonic’s growth success setting new benchmarks for excellence in mineral exploration.


This is a remote position based in BC or Alberta with travel as needed.


Responsibilities


Strategic & Executive Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to define and execute long-term exploration strategies that drive shareholder value.
  • Lead technical due diligence for acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
  • Contribute to corporate strategy, capital allocation, and investor communications.
  • Represent the company at conferences, investor meetings, and community engagements with credibility and clarity.
  • Define and deliver exploration strategies that align with corporate goals and shareholder expectations.
  • Evaluate new opportunities (greenfield, brownfield, partnerships, and acquisitions) with a sharp eye for geological integrity and strategic fit.
