Duties may include:

  • Loading and un-loading equipment
  • Material handling
  • Operating machines such as drill presses, sanders, metal saws, etc.
  • Supporting machine operators
  • Measuring and inspecting parts
  • Using basic hand tools to carry out grinding/deburring activities
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work area
  • Following safety standards and guidelines

Required Skills and Experience:

As a Night Saw Operator, you will receive training to operate saws, following diagrams and purchase orders to cut materials to specified lengths as per customer requirements.
**Responsibilities**
Operate saws according to training and instructions.
Follow diagrams and purchase orders for material specifications.
Cut materials to precise lengths required by customer orders.
**Essential Skills**
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
1 year of experience in manufacturing.
Experience as a machine operator.
Ability to use a tape measure.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
General labor and production experience in manufacturing.
**Shift Timing**
Will be working a continental night shift - hours from 5:55pm to 6:10am.
Continental shifts u2013 different days of the week based on 2-week schedule. Week 1 - 2 On, 2 Off, 3 On. Week 2 - 2 Off, 2 On, 3 Off

**Work Environment**
The work takes place in a loud manufacturing facility with strong oil smells and burning metal fumes from extrusion processes. Temperatures can rise during summer months. Each shift consists of approximately 40 people, including forklift operators, saw operators, press operators, a shift supervisor, and a shift manager. The 12-hour continental shifts do not rotate, with schedules including: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, and alternating weekends. Operators will work one weekend every other week, with full weekends off on alternating weeks. This schedule includes 4 hours of overtime every 2 weeks.

Job Summary
In this role, you will support daily operations, including troubleshooting, increasing operational effectiveness and efficiency of production unit. Be responsible to ensure the plant provides maximum unit availability in a safe and economical manner by providing support to plant personnel using available resources, by interfacing/coordinating with Supply Chain and S4H data owner and by helping to identify employee development opportunities and participating in operator training/certifications.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Enforce and maintain all safety rules and regulations
  • Make daily rounds to observe production operations and identify any hazards or issues
  • Supervise production employees and enforce company policies
  • Prepare and release process orders in accordance with the schedule in S4H
  • Complete PI sheets & TECO process orders
  • Maintain SharePoint reports – uptime/downtime, scrap reason codes
  • Prepare weekly manpower schedule including OT requirements for shift coverage (while on day shift)
  • Evaluate raw material availability and proactively address potential shortages
  • Look for productivity and TCO opportunities to improve the site profitability
  • Leverage continuous improvement tools to eliminate loss, optimize processes, and improve reliability
  • Manage the department’s materials, machinery, and labor to meet run rate targets
  • Assess job performance and provide open feedback
  • Complete granulation process orders and consume WIP use
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • 3-5 years of experience in production, manufacturing, or supply chain environments 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (creating formulas, charts, and basic data analysis) 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various teams. 
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions quickly. 
  • Basic understanding of production processes and scheduling concepts

  • 5-8 years of experience as an operator in polycarbonate extrusion manufacturing 
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations Management, or related field 
  • Experience with SAP and APO planning modules 
  • Knowledge of make-to-order manufacturing environments. 
  • Demonstrated success in improving production efficiency. 
  • Experience with cycle counting and inventory management. 
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends for continuous improvement.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Supervisor to supervise unionized automotive manufacturing workforce. The main function of a production supervisor is to supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise Production team members and support them in achieving business objectives
  • Manage daily and weekly tasks and scheduling of team members
  • Guide workforce to maintain efficiency and all cost objectives
  • Evaluate and adjust work plans to accomplish objectives
  • Develop a proactive safety culture by engaging team members and peers in the safety processes
  • Coordinate the development of pre-task plans prior to jobs to ensure all jobs are completed safely
  • Complete annual Employee Performance Evaluations
  • Comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements
  • Maintain frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group
  • Create follow up details and communicate the Safety/Quality/Production related items during shift change meetings
  • Respond to uptime-related issues 
  • Maintain overtime equalization records 
  • Attend daily Shift Change meetings 
  • Attend Business Plan Deployment (BPD) meetings 
  • Make daily adjustments in time and attendance 
  • Facilitate coaching, training, and feedback to enhance the performance of Team Members and Team Leaders
  • Carry out weekly Safety Observation Tours (SOTs)
  • Coordinate manpower allocation and assignments 
  • Maintain Task Instruction Sheets (TIS), Buffer Management, Bypass Management, Sealer Management, Quality Review Board Activities
  • Track and record scrap in your area and focus on mitigation and prevention procedures 
  • Adopt and lead Global Manufacturing System processes to operate the business unit with continuous improvement

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Over 2 years of experience in manufacturing sector, including at least one year of direct supervisory experience
  • Ability to coordinate, manage, address performance concerns, and lead people in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to solve complex problems and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict and make decisions in ambiguous fast-paced environment
  • Ability to ensure a safe industrial work environment
  • Able to work autonomously with occasional guidance from leaders and peers
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
  • Proficient in MS Office skills.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Experience in General Motors manufacturing facilities
  • Supervisor experience in a union environment

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate or Bachelor degree in business or related field is preferred.

Belvika Trade & Packaging Ltd. is a leading one-stop contract packaging company, specializing in precision packing of dry foods, chocolate and confectionary products from multiple facilities totaling more than 500,000 ft2. Belvika has grown to be one of the largest co-packers of chocolate, confectionary and snack products in Canada. Belvika uses its extensive experience in managing both manual processes and automated equipment to handle primary and secondary packaging of products for some of the world’s best known confectionary brands.   Belvika is currently seeking a Shift Coordinator to assist the production team. This position will be based at the Goreway facility located at 6690 Goreway, Mississauga and must be flexible to work on all shifts and other locations.   Current shifts available: Afternoon   The successful candidate will:    * Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day jobs running at the facility and provide feed-back to the supervisor. * Inspect and accurately record by scanning into Nulogy all incoming packaging and bulk to the line making sure that all lot code applicable to the materials are also recorded. * Keep the correct amount of bulk and packaging material on the production floor to ensure that the line does not stop waiting for materials. * Make sure that quality checks are carried out in accordance with the product specification sheets and BT&PL QA standards. * Make sure that all bulk and/or packaging material brought to the line are recorded on the traceability report worksheet. * Inspect and record all outgoing finished product from the line into Nulogy - making sure that date codes and quantities are correct. * Print a pallet tag for every completed pallet of Finished Product (only once this tag is created can the material handler/forklift driver move the completed product to the staging area); * Record all QA and lot tracking information onto the correct forms provided. * Supervise Line Staff, making sure that there is sufficient labour to meet production requirement. * Create daily shipments in Nulogy for outbounds loads * Assist with production on the line. * Make sure that area is always clean and safe. ** Ensure that SSOP are being followed by production team during, breaks, changeovers, and at the end of the shift. ** Verify line cleanliness and sign on off on sanitation records * At shift change or end of a production run, ensure: ** All lot traceability & QA information is communicated to the next leads to confirm correct production date codes and correct product count remaining for production. ** Report any incidents or concerns to the Shift Supervisor. ** Stop the job in Nulogy.   Education/Work experience requirements: * High school diploma or equivalent (College or business degree in Business or Related Courses an asset). * Minimum 2 years’ experience in production environment (food processing or food packaging environment preferred). * Experience using Nulogy, SAP or other ERP & MRP system is an asset.    Belvika is an equal opportunity employer, offering competitive wages, a bonus plan, benefit plan, ongoing training, and an interesting and challenging work environment. We will provide the tools and training that you require to excel at your role together with access to Senior Management to provide additional support and guidance.
