Reporting to the Finance Manager – Commercial Finance, the Sr. Finance Analyst provides financial leadership, support and analysis to the business, finance and plant management teams. The role requires that the incumbent work closely with business partners, market data and plant management to forecast, budget, explain the variances and set up costing.

• Prepare forecasts/budgets based on driver based financial models
• Explain variances of actuals vs forecast/budget and communicate effectively to partners
• Ensure all company financial policies and procedures are adhered to for the assigned responsibility area
• Prepare market data reporting and track commodity market based performance
• Investigate variances, analyze production data, and provide explanations to management.
• Lead period-end financial activities.  Ensure adherence to tight month-end schedule, prepare closing journal entries and complete account reconciliations.
• Interpret financial results.
• Identify, recommend, and support cost improvement opportunities.
• Calculate and update product costs, including Standard Costing updates.
• Work with the plant team to ensure inventory related accounting policies are implemented properly
• Support the overall budget process by coordinating with market, plant and other business unit data
• Provide guidance and coaching to non-finance managers regarding issues of financial control and compliance.
• Work with team members to drive automation and visualization efforts by identifying and implementing ETL based solutions for system originating data.

• Post-Secondary Education in Accounting or Business required
• Accounting Designation is preferred or actively working towards CPA.
• Must have excellent systems skills, analytical skills and be proficient in Excel

Reporting to the Manager, External Reporting, you will play a key role in the quarterly and annual close process, financial statement preparation, and legal entity reporting. You will continue to grow your knowledge of external reporting requirements and IFRS as part of the team responsible for preparation of external financial statements and MD&A.

• Quarterly close for management and external reporting under IFRS;

• Preparation of financial statements, financial statement notes and MD&A sections for external reporting; 

• Assisting in the period/quarter/year -end close process, including completion of select management reporting schedules & quarter/year-end deliverables;

• Preparation of journal entries into SAP and Business Planning Consolidation (BPC);

• Coordinate & consolidate quarterly analyses;

• Process review and proactive continuous improvement;

• Key contact for external auditors including preparation of responses to quarterly questions;

• Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and follow-ups;

• Assist External Reporting Finance and other functional groups with specific requests or analysis of account balances;

• Perform ad hoc financial accounting analysis and financial reporting as required; and

• Other duties and special projects, as required. 

• Progress toward Accounting Designation (CPA);

• University degree Finance/Accounting;
