We are seeking a highly skilled Manager, Financial Reporting to lead a team of professional financial and accounting staff. This role involves providing strategic support and advice to ensure compliance with various financial acts and policies. You will play a key role in financial accountability, planning, and management decision-making through effective coordination of quarterly and annual results reporting, as well as a wide range of strategic financial services.
Responsibilities
+ Meet with staff to ensure reconciliations are completed thoroughly and track progress.
+ Supervise staff and review their work to maintain high standards.
+ Familiarize with quarter-end and month-end deliverables.
+ Run reports and monitor the status of balance sheet accounts.
+ Coordinate with Executive Directors, Expenditure Officers, and Financial Administrators to prepare financial statements accurately.
+ Work with Service Alberta to meet timelines for accruals and year-end transactions.
+ Guide AFSC for alignment and timely consolidation.
+ Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through proper reconciliation processes.
+ Ensure compliance with the Financial Administration Act (FAA).
+ Liaise with the Office of the Auditor General during audits, providing necessary documentation.
+ Provide direction to ensure adherence to policies and procedures for capital asset management.
+ Lead the maintenance of accurate capital asset inventories for proper insurance coverage.
+ Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a positive work environment.
Essential Skills
+ Strong accounting and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex accounting policies.
+ Proven interpersonal, management, and leadership skills.
+ Ability to coach and manage professional and technical staff.
+ Comprehensive project management skills within a large, automated environment.
+ Experience in preparing financial statements and entity consolidation.
+ CPA Designation.
+ Degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting from a recognized university.
+ Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or Dynamics.
+ Intermediate proficiency in Outlook and Excel, including handling large data volumes and using formulas.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ SAP ERP experience is a plus.
+ Knowledge of government ministry business processes.
+ Experience in public sector accounting.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
+ Strong customer service skills.
+ Time management and problem-solving abilities.

**Specific Accountabilities:**
* Be responsible for the end-to-end process of the drafting of the Company's External Financial Statements, and Management Discussion & Analysis, including discussions with the Company's external audit firm, legal counsel, and Investor Relations departments to ensure all information released externally is complete, accurate, and appropriate
* Ensure the above meets all disclosure requirements and conform to industry standards
* Conduct thoroughly researched and supported accounting analyses on routine and non-routine transactions to determine the proper treatment under U.S. GAAP
* Responsible for the Company's equity related filings with regulatory authorities and the accounting for stock compensation
* Assist with managing the Company's global statutory audits
* Collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely completion of the month-end close process
* Monitor standard-setting activities and research new guidance for impact to the Company's accounting treatments
* Serve as a technical resource on project teams to ensure proper accounting under new systems and initiatives, and identify new accounting policy requirements early
**Qualifications/Experience:**
* CPA designation is required
* 4+ years' experience working within public accounting, Big Four experience is preferred
* Experience with U.S. GAAP or IFRS accounting standards
* Detail oriented with strong analytical, problem solving and organization skills.
* A solid technical accounting background, including the ability to research and analyze accounting standards and a history of dealing with complex accounting transactions, and determining the impact of changing accounting guidance
* The ability to think strategically and effectively work across functions to resolve complex business problems
* Ability to set and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Creative and innovative with the ability to recommend and implement improved processes
* Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including excel

Summary
The Manager, Financial Reporting plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of financial data. Job Title: Financial Reporting Manager
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Financial Reporting Manager will play a key member of the finance team responsible for overseeing the financial month and quarter end close processes and prepare accurate quarterly and annual financial statements and Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A). The Financial Reporting manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and maintaining compliance with IFRS, internal controls and applicable regulatory requirements. Additionally, this role will provide oversight of internal control processes, ensuring they are operating effectively and continuously improving. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Financial Reporting
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A in compliance with IFRS and in XBRL format for filing on EDGAR.
- Prepare or review monthly working papers, supporting schedules and technical accounting memos.
- Manage the month-end close procedures to ensure timely completion and review of workbooks by the finance team.
- Assume the role of primary liaison between the auditors and Skeena.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impacts on financial reporting.
Leadership and Team Development
- Provide leadership, guidance, and development opportunities for team members.
- Support training initiatives to enhance team performance and knowledge.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Propose and lead process improvements to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of financial reporting and other business operations.
- Ensure adherence to the company’s internal control processes and promote opportunities for continuous improvement.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties and projects as required by the company.
The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
Experience / Skills
- 3 to 5 years experience in a leadership role in public practice or accounting/financial reporting role for public companies under IFRS, including supervision of staff.
- Understanding of SOX controls and requirements.
- Experience with development and/or production phase mining companies is an asset.
- Experience with iXBRL Filing Software is an asset.
- Experience with Pronto Xi is a strong asset.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to develop team relationships and providing leadership to junior team members.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and receptiveness to feedback.
- Excellent organizational abilities and proven multitasking skills.

Work Location & Conditions
This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast-paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered.
Compensation
The expected range for this position is CAD $130,000-$140,000 in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
