Operating from our world-class training college in Dubai, Synthetic Flight Instructors are an integral part of the pilot training team. This position is responsible for delivering training using Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTD) and conducting ground school instruction in accordance with GCAA regulations and Emirates’ standards, using state-of-the-art simulators replicating the flying experience of our Boeing 777, Airbus A350, and signature Airbus A380 aircraft.
This role includes in-simulator and on-ground instruction, lesson preparation, pre-and post-flight briefings, report writing and assessments.

The Flight Test Engineer Instructors will be responsible for participating in flight test and instructional duties. Reporting to the Chief Flight Test Engineer Instructor, the FTEIs will be key members of our instructional staff. These positions are client facing and require preparation, enthusiasm, and a desire to mentor and support the next generation of Flight Test Professionals.
Duties:
- Participating in ground and flight tests of aircraft;
- Developing and conducting computer simulations of aerospace vehicles, systems and components using advanced mathematical modelling;
- Developing operational specifications and manuals;
- Contributing to and taking ownership for the assigned portion of the ITPS program;
- Delivering the academic courses using appropriate instructional techniques and equipment;
- Mentoring and using remedial teaching skills, where necessary to strengthen students academic abilities;
- Supervising, monitoring and marking of student progress tests as appropriate to the FTEIs subject field;
- Practicing and maintaining the highest academic standards;
- Monitoring the progress of individual students and briefing this on a regular basis to the Chief Theoretical knowledge instructor and Head of Training;
- Reporting any concerns about student progress to the Chief Theoretical knowledge instructor and the Head of Training as soon as possible;
- Attending Academic meetings;
- Research paper development and delivery;
- Providing Mentorship to Junior Engineers;
- Participate in personnel training and assessment;
- Travel may be required for programs and industry involvement from time to time; and
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or in a related engineering discipline, such as mechanical engineering or engineering physics, is required.
- A master's degree or doctorate in a related engineering discipline may be required.
- Graduate of a graduate flight test engineer course from a recognized institution
- 5+ years of Flight Test Program experience

Duties:
- Manage, coordinate, and oversee the successful execution of courses and flying programs.
- Ensure compliance, student welfare and satisfaction for courses assigned by the Head of Training or CFI-RW.
- Brief and prepare students for flight exercises, including completion of Risk Assessments.
- Authorize flights within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
- Provide flight exercise demonstrations, and support students in practicing flight test techniques and data-gathering techniques.
- Debrief course flights and generate Sortie Report Assessments to track student progress.
- Ensure students prepare and submit reports for exercises managed by the FTI.
- Act as the first reviewer of student reports, ensuring they meet syllabus requirements and providing regular feedback to appropriate CFI and Head of Training.
- Address any student progress concerns promptly with the CFI or Head of Training.
- Take on special projects that you are qualified to perform as requested by your manager which may require travel internationally.
- Perform related activities/tasks, as necessary or as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
- Graduation from a test pilot school or military equivalent is required.
- Graduation from a Society of Experimental Test Pilots recognized test pilot school is preferred.
- EASA pilot license or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL/IR) level with FT Rating Category 1 and FTI Rating or equivalent ICAO license and Test Pilot qualifications to qualify as FTI is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience as a test pilot with at least 200 hours of test flying experience.
- Previous experience as FI, TRI, or FTI is an asset.
- An FTI who holds a Transport Canada or validated ICAO license AND a recognized TP qualification* may give instruction in flight test techniques to Students who are not seeking an EASA TP rating; in this case FCL.900 approval is not required.
- Valid Category 1 Medical Certificate is required.
- Ability to travel up 20% of the time.
- Must complete ITPS standardization after employment.
- Training Bonds are available to employees who requiring type rating upgrades.
