We are currently hiring a Full time or part time Data Collection Specialist with a drone pilot license in Canada
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Perform field visits to collect various types of traffic data:
• Drone aerial photography and video
• MioVision camera and radar unit installations
• Manual traffic and parking counts
• Download, save and process video and other data
• Prepare field checklists:
• Measure roadway grades, widths, and distances
• Take site photographs
• Prepare intersection sketches
• Sight distance evaluations
• Inventory roadway signs, signal equipment, utility locations, etc.
• Communicate regularly with our traffic engineers and coordinate with equipment vendors, clients, and sub-contractors.
• Track count and data collection efforts on a monthly basis.
Job Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• FAA Part 107 License
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• 1-3 years of experience
• Candidates must have a valid driver's license
• Candidates must have access to reliable transportation
Pay Range: $21/hour - $23/hour

About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our small, driven Data Collection team. As a Field Technician, you will support our Data Collection team in coordinating and executing field operations as we collect 3 layers of data (with the use of drones and other platforms), on infrastructure assets around the world. Working closely with our third-party data collection partners and clients, your role will be to plan and execute a successful operation and strengthen relationships with these stakeholders. You will also be working closely with our Geospatial and Acoustic team members to ensure that data meets specified standards for our analytics teams. Outside of the field, you will support the team in managing upcoming projects, assisting the engineering team with product development and testing, and helping to build workflows and processes that will allow Niricson to scale our operational capacity. An ability to successfully communicate and collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders is required.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute field operations.
- Support our third-party data collection partners and/or clients in collecting data.
- Collect data by operating various drone and sensor platforms.
- Strengthen relationships with drone partners and clients while in the field.
- Collaborate with internal teams to aid in the development of equipment and software.
- Travel up to 50% of the time to support field operations.

Required Qualifications/Components
- Degree/diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, GIS, or Surveying.
- 1-2+ years experience in field operations, ability to travel 50% of the time
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong computer literacy and adaptability to various software tools
- Perseverance in completing field work under challenging and demanding conditions
- Experience in project coordination and communicating with project stakeholders (clients, subcontractors, service providers, internal teams).
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional awareness.
- Willingness to work independently and be a self-starter
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Experience with Surveying, GIS, Remote Sensing, or UAV-based inspections.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting equipment, software and hardware issues in the field.
- Passion for photography with experience in optimizing camera settings
- Experience and passion for interacting with external stakeholders.
- Experience working with photogrammetry software.
- Enthusiasm for drone technology and other various data collection methods.
