Intermediate Project Engineer The role requires 3 to 5 years of relevant Project Engineering experience to drive and manage multiple projects for a variety of clients in the food, beverage and pet food industries. The ideal candidate should have a thorough knowledge of design engineering principles and project management methodologies, supported with in-depth experienced in the application of project management techniques for clients in the food, beverage or pet food industries. Responsibilities * Support and assist Senior Project Engineers with major project initiatives which includes identifying equipment capabilities, utilities, infrastructure requirements, developing process flow diagrams and layout concepts * Lead and coordinate activities at client sites to ensure proper execution of project designs * Prepare mechanical system designs using AutoCAD, 2D/3D and BIM modelling * Manage contractors, sub-contractors and vendors to ensure compliance to all safety regulations, codes, standards and adherence to client requirements * Monitoring Contractor work for compliance with contract specifications * Generate, review, and take responsibility for contract documents and specifications primarily as they relate to process mechanical requirements * Support site start-up team, troubleshoot and resolve issues by collaborating with vendor equipment technicians during installation and start up * Interact with core disciplines (structural, electrical, controls, process), as well as internal and external clients to coordinate and achieve project objectives in a timely manner * Assist with the development of Engineering Check-out, Equipment Acceptance Testing, start-up and validation documents * Working knowledge of CFIA, USDA and FDA food equipment hygienic design requirements * Understanding GMP requirements, area designations, and clean design requirements Other Essential Requirements * Bachelor of Engineering in any of the following disciplines, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical or Civil * Professional Engineer status or Engineer in Training * Previous experience in food, beverage or pet food industries * Able to work flexible hours, weekends if required * Experience using AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Excel and Word * Up to 40% travel maybe required to support and service our clients * Valid Ontario driver’s license, Valid passport and ability to obtain TN visa   We provide a competitive compensation including benefits, health spending account, retirement program, fitness allowance, personal and career development and other programs. The full team comprises a diverse range of talent that allows us to offer the full spectrum of big picture process design to niche level materials handling.   Senior Project Engineer - FOOD MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE MANDATORY Bringing a minimum of 5 - 10 years of FOOD MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY Project Engineering experience to manage and drive multiple projects in a food manufacturing setting. The Project Engineer must be familiar with and follow best practice Project Management methodologies. Recommend, manage, and implement efforts to streamline the organization's processes and establish best practices. Using his/her ability to organize and lead meetings (plan, facilitate, document, follow up) to accomplish objectives. Requirements: ** Lead major project initiatives in the food industry. This position will be based at the Export facility located at 450 Export Blvd, Mississauga, and, when needed, must be flexible to work at the Traders facility located at 340 Traders Blvd, Mississauga. The position works on the day shift but must be flexible to work afternoon or night shifts as needed.   Why Join Us? * Join a growing and stable organization with opportunities to learn and develop * Paid vacation * Full benefits package   Position Summary: * This is an entry level Quality Assurance Inspector position within the Quality Department of a Co-packer in confectionary and snack food products. * Areas include quality element control related to operations, policy and procedure auditing, leads quality improvement projects, and drives defect prevention and detections. * Organizes and reviews all QA aspects of daily production.   The successful candidate will:    * Maintain and ensure consistent execution of current QA programs and internal SOPs and compliance with SQF, CFIA, and client requirements; * Maintain all sensory guidelines for all incoming and outgoing bulk / finished goods; * Coordinate the retention samples and storage of product for all customers; * Coordinate the proper destruction of any food product and complete any CODs as required; * Prepare all new product start-ups ensuring that all Belvika requirements are met (Belvika and client forms); * Write, review and implement new operating policies and procedures as directed by the QA Manager; * Assist with executing various initiatives to improve the quality and safety of our processes; * Assist with Company food safety and quality program updates, maintenance and verifications to ensure the facility is meeting regulatory and compliance requirements for all stakeholders; * Monitor and inspect production lines and quality report forms daily to ensure client quality and food safety standards are being met; * Review shift reports daily to ensure lot traceability and quality checks forms that have been completed are accurate; * Perform Environmental, ATP and allergen tests when needed; * Perform water testing and sampling when required; * Ensure that the allergen program is being followed and make certain quality & food safety standards are being met; * Conduct a variety of monthly internal audits with cross-functional team and identify opportunities for improvement; * Maintain and verify that daily, weekly and monthly hold logs, cleaning duties have been completed and records are up to date; * Coordinate issuing and following up on any corrective actions, if necessary, based on deviations found or resulting from client complaints; * Ensure that the pest control program is being maintained and liaise with operator to ensure that all Company and regulatory standards are being met; * Drives prevention vs. detection of defects; * Supports client audits, government audits to meet compliance; * Support the ongoing development and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). The co-ordination of processes includes managing controlled documents, Quality Records Archiving, employee training of QMS processes and special projects; * Follow all Company health and safety policies and procedures and work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act;   Education/Work experience requirements: * Minimum 1-year experience in quality assurance in food processing or food packaging environment; * Knowledge & experience of GMPs, HACCP and & Quality Management systems; * Post-secondary education related to Quality Assurance and/or Food Science is an asset.   Key technical & behavioural competencies: * Self-starter who works well under pressure and has great time management skills; * Proficiency with Microsoft Office such as Word and Excel; * Great interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work well both independently and with multiple departments as required; * Knowledge and basic understanding of allergen and pathogen swabbing techniques; * Knowledge of quality auditing, inspection methods; * Detail oriented; * Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task; * Excellent reading, writing, and oral communication skills.   Belvika is an equal opportunity employer, offering competitive wages, a bonus plan, benefit plan, ongoing training, and an interesting and challenging work environment.
