Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items. Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties. Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work. Perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping as well as external landscaping sprinklers. Display basic computer skills including inputting air handler schedules and making temperature changes.
Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Adhere to quality expectations and standards. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance. Move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The Opportunity: Responsible for performing work necessary to keep the plumbing infrastructure and fixtures to Fairmont Engineering Departments standards. To carry out daily preventative tasks, emergency and planned troubleshooting and repairs, new installs and retrofits of any space within the hotel property as directed by the Director of Engineering or designated Engineering Managers.
In this role you’ll get to:
- Responsible for troubleshooting and carrying out all repairs to all equipment, machinery, valves, pumps and building systems related to the water/sewage/steam piping in the hotel including but not limited to chilled water system, potable water system, sewage water system, hot water system, condenser water, return water and steam lines, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, valet, chillers and the HVAC system
- Execute work as assigned in a PM program that will ensure all the plumbing systems, machinery and equipment are routinely inspected, repaired as required and are in good running order and condition
- Where necessary, implement temporary safe solutions to minimize the impact of work at the hotel to guests.
- To oversee any plumbing work carried out in the hotel. To ensure that all work is completed within the Royal York Hotel standards and meets the Building Code of Ontario.
- To respond to guest requests from Royal Service to carry out repairs and maintenance in guest rooms and public areas including, however, not limited to unplugging toilets, bathtubs & sinks, changing light bulbs, a/c unit, TV, remote controls, windows and furniture
- Responsible for maintaining an adequate stock of plumbing supplies and parts such as lights, valves, elbows, caps, copper & pvc connections, traps, repair kits, needed in day-to-day maintenance.
- Good upkeep, repair and maintenance of all Kitchen equipment including, but not limited to freezers, coolers and cooking equipment
- Responsible for working with contractors and in-house staff on renovation and remodeling requirements and prepare a materials list and pricing for the project
- Responsible for ensuring supplies are stored and organized in a manner where inventories can be maintained. Ensure tools and material minimum levels are maintained so that ongoing, routine work can be completed.
- To attend all training courses, workshops, seminars or schooling to ensure that you are current on all mechanical technology related to your job
- May have to work weekends, holidays and shift work as scheduled by the Director of Engineering
- Perform other related duties as assigned
What you need to succeed:
- Certified plumber under the Apprenticeship and Tradesmen Qualification Act or equivalent experience
- Five (5) years’ experience in a similar role
- Working knowledge and ability to repair the HVAC, mechanical and electrical equipment systems within the hotel
- WHMIS & OHSA
- Excellent guest service and be able to communicate in English
Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
- Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting

FLOOR SUPERVISOR
**REPORTS TO:** Store Manager
**SUMMARY:** The Floor Supervisor's primary function is to assist and support the Store and Assistant Manager in all aspects of the store, including all personnel, product, merchandising, and visual functions, business processes and results for the store. Assist management with recruiting, training and development of associates.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Direct and motivates the store team to provide service in accordance with the TH Customer Service program, generate sales and profit, minimize losses and while ensure the store is visually distinctive and impeccably maintained.
+ Maximize Associate productivity, ensure compliance and consistent execution of company standards and Policy & Procedures as well as create an environment which is results driven.
+ Assist in the development of associates through feedback, coaching and training.
+ Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
+ Develop proficiency in all operational policies and procedures.
+ Manage time and prioritize tasks.
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Maximize sales by ensuring TH Customer Service program is being executed to standard as well as ensuring merchandise styles and sizes are well represented on the sales floor.
+ Assist with training, developing and executing S.G.M. and TH Customer Service.
+ Communicate statistical results and identify business needs.
+ Communicate with team at Take 5 meetings, regarding individual sales performance, and other key performance indicators such as UPT, conversion, store results, product sales and other information to help them provide great service and achieve goals.
+ Assist with training, monitoring and executing Direct Replenishment and Recovery process.
+ Recognize problems, analyze causes, and generate alternatives and solutions.
+ Represent the TH image through personal and professional appearance.
OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Understand and comply with all company policy, procedures and operations.
+ Receiving and processing shipments and transfers.
+ Follow Inventory Shrinkage Improvement Program.
+ Assist to ensure store has all necessary tools (i.e. supplies, resources, binders, posters, etc.) and knowledge of how to use them adequately.
+ Maintain the highest level of security and safety awareness within the store
+ Store opening and closing.
+ Able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and able to stand for long periods of time.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Work with store management to source the best talent through networking and recruitment, interviewing, hiring and orientation process. Identify new hires who possess skills representative of the TH Brand and image.
+ Assist in the development of all associates to be knowledgeable in areas of product and sales by communicating openly, honestly, and constructively.
+ Create energy, excitement and recognition around team and individual accomplishment and successes.
+ Participate and assists the Store Manager in weekly management meetings and quarterly staff meetings.
+ Change schedules, adapt to the needs of the position, undertaking night shifts, weekends and holidays.
+ Demonstrate teamwork and lead by example within store.
MERCHANDISING & VISUAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Assists in making business decisions based on current sell-through strategies.
+ Maintains elevated store presentation by training and overseeing standards as defined by brand standards and company directives with an eye for detail.
+ Keep management informed of all merchandise and visual related issues.
+ Execute markdowns and re-merchandise, as needed.
+ Maintain store organization fixtures/hardware/general cleanliness.

**YOUR DAY TO DAY**
Clean guest rooms and/or suites in a timely and thorough manner to ensure total guest satisfaction.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Clean and service assigned rooms or areas according to established standards and procedures including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, removing trash, etc. May include cleaning of kitchen area, room refrigerator, coffee maker, cups, glasses, silverware, etc.
+ Notify supervisor when service is complete so rooms may be sold or occupied. Report any room unable to be serviced to supervisor according to established procedures.
+ Report to supervisor needed repairs or unsafe conditions.
+ Respond to guest complaints, special requests and ensure corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
+ Monitor and control supplies and amenities, and minimize waste within all areas of housekeeping.
+ Report, turn in, and/or log all lost and found items according to established procedures.
+ Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
+ May regularly assist with deep cleaning projects.
+ May assist with other duties as assigned.
+ May have turndown duties.
**WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU**
Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Some housekeeping experience and ability to speak English preferred.
This job requires ability to perform the following:
+ Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing and or pulling approximately 200 pounds
+ Frequently standing up and moving about the facility
+ Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility

**YOUR DAY TO DAY**
Provide a check-in/check-out environment and hotel experience for VIP and special key guests that distinguishes our brand from the competition and delivers superior service and value.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Greet VIP guests and conduct special check-in and check-out services for these guests. Communicate with Front Office about arriving VIP guests and communicate any changes needed for their stay in a timely and accurate manner.
+ Identify return guests and VIPs in advance. Assign premium guest rooms and coordinate closely with other departments to forward relevant information.
+ Deliver and/or coordinate the delivery of services and/or amenities (such as flowers) to VIP guests. Collect and provide comprehensive information and coordinate VIP and/or Priority Club guest requests regarding hotel services, sporting events, places of interest, restaurants, theater, airline, transportation tickets, limousine rentals, sightseeing tours and any other information of interest. Coordinate and/or confirm reservations as needed.
+ Respond appropriately to guest requests and complaints. Make appropriate service recovery gestures according to established guidelines in order to ensure total guest satisfaction. Log all guest complaints or concerns, coordinate the dispatch of work orders to the appropriate department and staff, and escalate appropriate issues to management.
+ May provide assistance with florists, couriers, mail services, rental of small business machines, international calls, etc. for assigned guests.
+ Assist Club attendant with their duties in opening and closing the buffet, restocking the buffet, clearing tables and attending to guests needs and other miscellaneous tasks.
+ Promote teamwork and quality service for our guests
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
**WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU**
High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year of guest/customer service experience. A valid Smart Serve certificate. Hotel experience and some college preferred. Must speak fluent English. Other languages preferred.
This job requires ability to perform the following:
