The Cape Breton Regional Hospital is located in Sydney and is the regional referral and trauma center for Cape Breton Island. The Cape Breton Regional is part of a four-hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated and Northside General Hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will need to have an open availability, including weekends and overnight shifts. 

Ideal candidates would be:

  • Able to provide superior customer service to both customers and clients
  • Experienced in following strict protocols and dealing with emergency situations
  • Be of good character and sound mind,
  • Honest and trustworthy
  • Reliable
  • Capable of obtaining a Top Secret Clearance. 
  • In possession of valid BC Security Licence and OFA 1 certificate or willing to obtain
  • Able to work shift rotations including mornings, afternoons and graveyards

Top secret clearance requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years living Canada
  • Must hold Canadian citizenship 
  • Have no criminal record or association with criminal activities (including family, friends and acquaintances)
  • The test itself comprises of:
    • Completion of comprehensive paperwork
    • Thorough and intense investigation on past activities, associations and your character
    • Examination of vices, dishonesty, and financial status
    • Polygraph Test – Must complete and pass testing

**Please note – due to the nature of the clearance, processing times can take 10-12 months to complete. Commissionaires would be able to offer temporary employment in the meantime**

Site role and responsibilities:

  • Liaise with all security personnel regarding specific activities or concerns, maintaining open communication
  • Monitoring of CCTV cameras, reviewing situations and reporting/advising on-site personnel of appropriate response
  • Greet visitors and staff members
  • Ensure confidentiality for staff members and the site
  • Enforce building security, and maintain a safe environment for all personnel and the public
  • Manage incoming calls, inquiries, and pass along vital information
  • Respond to inquiries according to site access protocols
  • Respond to emergency situations
