The Security Specialist – Automation Engineering provides second-level technical support and engineering expertise in SOAR platforms and automation tooling. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a strong foundation in scripting, system administration, and security operations. The Specialist will contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of automation workflows and security orchestration.
What you will do: 

  • Deliver and support SOAR engineering solutions using Python and Git/SCM
  • Administer Linux systems and develop Bash scripts for automation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents related to automation pipelines and security tooling
  • Collaborate with SOC/NOC teams to integrate automation into operational workflows
  • Participate in the development of SOPs and technical documentation

What we expect of you: 

  • Strong experience in SOAR engineering (e.g., Cortex XSOAR, Splunk SOAR).
  • Proficient in Python scripting and Git CLI.
  • Solid understanding of Linux administration and Bash scripting.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with Ansible and AWX/Tower a plus
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform a plus
  • Exposure to AI/ML in security use cases a plus

The Manager is accountable for ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality services per the Statements of Work (SOW). What you will do:

  • Designs and implements operational reporting to ensure the successful delivery of the managed services
  • Assists in the development of departmental KPIs and objectives
  • Accountable for the KPI targets and objectives being delivered for your team.
  • Identifies and executes on process improvement initiatives, improving the Service Delivery model, gaining more efficiency while adding additional value
  • Confidently runs departmental and customer facing meetings, delivering effective, concise content during all interactions; focusing on the key message they want to convey while explaining the function and value of our approach to service delivery by highlighting our differentiated services per MSS positioning
  • Builds and manages client relationships as a Trusted Partner, effectively managing client escalations, working collaboratively with the Sr. Manager and cross-functional delivery teams to maintain strong communications
  • Ensures the team is positioned to deliver high quality services in alignment with the SOW through accurate resource assignment, workload prioritization and scheduling
  • Accountable for the quality and consistency of the documentation, processes and knowledge base for their team and customers, ensuring that it is consistent and up to date with current process and knowledge.
  • Embodies Trusted Advisor principles, including building trust and influencing loyalty with the client and mentoring their coworkers.
  • Works collaboratively with the Supervisor, and directly with their team, in our coaching program, providing consistent and constructive feedback to their team as a coach, in alignment with our Trusted Advisor program, identifying performance opportunities and risk by uncovering and recognizing patterns in our service delivery impacting the client experience.
  • Performs quality assessment (QA) of the teams work as part of regular coaching to ensure outputs are aligned with objectives and KPIs
  • Actively recognizes team members for developing client loyalty and coaching peer coworkers.
  • Support the launch of new service offerings
  • Identifies and implements solutions for business process deficiencies, service performance issues, team utilization and SOW alignment.
  • Develops reports, presentations and documentation for the team, providing a clear foundation and structure for service delivery
  • Develops and improves Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and knowledge base articles
  • Identifies and outlines new Trusted Advisor programs based on client feedback and coworker coaching.
  • Maintains a strong network and promotes the organization at various meetings, forums, panels, publications, and conferences
  • Develops and coaches Trusted Advisor skillsets within the team
  • Begins to establish thought leadership in the industry

What we expect of you:

  •  Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or 3-year diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or a Technology related field and 7 years of security experience in a client-focused environment, and/or working in security operations center, and at least 2 years of experience leading projects and initiatives with a significant and material focus on cybersecurity that improved and transformed the business, OR
  • 11 years total of Information Technology experience to include 7 years of security experience in a client-focused environment, and/or working in security operations center, and at least 2 years of experience leading projects and initiatives with a significant and material focus on cybersecurity that improved and transformed the business 
  • At least 2 years of experience with people, project or customer account leadership.
  • At least 3 technical advanced or expert level certifications in Managed Security Services disciplines, including but not limited to: 
  • Microsoft SC-200, SC-100, SC-300, SC-400; CCNP Security, CyberOps Professional, CCIE Security; Palo Alto PCNSE, Cortex XDR-PMXdC; IBM QRadar Security: Administrator, Deployment Professional; SANS GCIA, GCIH, GSOM, Splunk, CrowdStrike Falcon: CCCS, CCFR, CCFH, CCFA; CISM, CISA. CEH; or similar technology certifications
  • Understanding of IT processes, SOC/NOC processes and procedures; Knowledge of ITIL and COBIT frameworks with relevant certification is a plus.
  • The position is part of a 7-day per week, 24-hour per day managed services operations. Must be available to work outside of the regular business hours which may include weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent prioritization / and time management skills, including the ability to manage their time without supervision to focus on priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience managing and leading IT infrastructure and Information Systems Design or support involving hardware, software and services at an enterprise level for at least one discipline in the Managed Security Services portfolio 
  • Direct involvement in working with internal and external teams to implement and troubleshoot complex configuration hardware, software and services
  • Experience presenting ideas and solutions to clients and adapting presentation style to fit particular client situations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate the investigation of complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in- depth evaluation of variable factors from multiple IT infrastructure systems
  • Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships and conduct complex and important work critical to the organization in a team, consulting environment

About the role

What You Bring

Job Summary

 The Sr. Analyst provides second-level technical client support such as: cyber security analysis of detected anomalies; deep analysis of the operating system; dealing with system crashes and bug fixes; handling troubleshooting; packets captures; configurations; restoring from back up; repair for appliances, networks, and infrastructure, and other system issues for one or more of three particular disciplines: Network Security, Information Security, and/or Endpoint Security; and brings an established repository of technical expertise to act as a Subject Matter Expert.   • Must have resided in Canada for a minimum of 5 years continuously (Client requires a reliability check)

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant work experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is considered an asset

  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License is mandatory

  • Demonstrated ability to work with technology and wireless communication systems specific to client sites

  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week as required

  • First Aid and CPR certification is required

  • Capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and standing or walking for extended periods

  • Physically capable of occasionally lifting or carrying up to 20 kilograms, as well as climbing stairs

Shifts: Various days, evenings, and overnight shifts

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide assistance and information to employees, visitors, and clients in a courteous and professional manner. 
  • Provide access control ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas by verifying credentials.
  • Conduct foots patrols to maintain visibility and cover all areas of the property.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies such as fire alarms, medical incidents, or security breaches; take appropriate action and coordinate with emergency services if necessary.
  • Document incidents, observations, and security-related activities in detailed written reports using Tracktik. 
  • Ensure security equipment such as radios, phones, access control systems are functioning; reporting any malfunctions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Positive attitude with a professional demenour to provide superior customer service.  
  • A valid BC Security Workers License is an asset.
  • A valid BC Driver's License is an asset. 
  • Physically fit and able to perform patrol duties effectively in a range of weather conditions. 
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency in English to communication with other and write reports.  
  • Excellent problem solving skills with an ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

AFIMAC is seeking licensed Security Guards for upcoming projects throughout the province of Ontario.

***Please note this is a temporary contract position, so it may not be suitable to someone currently working full time***

You will earn approximately $1,872.00 per week while on assignment.

  • $8.00 per hour before overtime
  • Hotel accommodations provided when required
  • 30 per diem when lodging required
  • Contract length 1-120 days

AFIMAC Security Guards are deployed to various types of assignments including:

  • Labour Disruptions
  • Organized protests
  • Man made crisis/disasters (crime scenes, structural fires ,etc.)

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible to work for AFIMAC you must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a valid security guard license in the province of Ontario
  • Flexibility and a willingness to travel on short notice within your home province to projects for extended periods of time (minimum 4 week commitment)
  • Ability to work 84 hours per week: 12 hour shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Able to sit, walk, stand, and or drive for extended periods of time
  • Able to read, write, and speak English
  • Be a Canadian resident and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Previous experience dealing with confrontational situations and having the ability to de-escalate with little to no supervision
  • Excellent report writing skills
