Our Engineering Department is looking for a new teammate, someone who is an experienced, high-energy hardware engineer with a solid understanding of electronics. Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting of complex systems, engaging in advanced problem-solving with limited to no documentation available
  • Develop new, improve existing and evaluate diagnostic and repair methods and test procedures suitable for a wide range of legacy and new electronic products
  • Reverse-engineer medium to complex electronic boards, modules and systems with the goal of developing improved test capability
  • Use of lab test equipment while performing advanced electronic measurements
  • Configuration of complex telecom systems
  • Automate tests and diagnostic processes
  • Develop In-circuit reprogramming methods
  • Identify solutions for component obsolescence, again this need will require creativity and imagination
  • Work in sync with the purchaser to determine product specifications
  • Help facilitate production capabilities and processes
  • Write technical specifications, train test personnel, present technical demos helping others is critical to our success


Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant experience

Additional Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of electronic components, their function, main electrical parameters and typical failure modes
  • Solid working knowledge of both legacy (asset) and current ICs, both digital and analog, microcontrollers, interfaces and protocols
  • Effective troubleshooting of complex electronic PCBs in lab environment
  • Proficient in electronic prototyping, design and performing electronic measurements
  • Ability to develop and document diagnostics, test procedures, etc.
  • Ability to engage in technical discussions with the engineering team
  • Experience with projects in Defense area is an asset

The Principal Analog Hardware Design Engineer will lead the development of cutting-edge electro-optical products. This role encompasses responsibility for the architecture, design, testing, validation, and manufacturing of advanced systems, including evaluation platforms and integrated circuit packages.

Responsibilities

  • Architect advanced pluggable optical modules and complex mixed signal solutions.
  • Lead conceptual work, product specification, component selection and evaluation, detailed design, prototyping, hardware bring-up and verification
  • Perform board development including circuit design, schematic capture and driving PCB placement and layout
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as design specifications, test plans and reports
  • Collaborate with FPGA, ASIC, system, optical, mechanical designers throughout design and integration

Requirements

  • MS/BSEE and minimum of 10+ years of experience in board level hardware design including in-depth focus on analog circuitry
  • Experience with PCB schematics and layout. Knowledge of Cadence Concept is not essential but considered a plus.
  • Experience performing feasibility studies during architecture phase to support component selection
  • Strong debugging and lab skills, including test development and detailed verification
  • Experience in design and measurement of very low noise analog circuits including op-amps, ADCs and DACs
  • Experience in clock and PLL design, analysis and characterization (phase noise, jitter, termination, distribution)
  • Experience in design of broadband interfaces and interconnections
  • Experience in signal/power integrity modeling, using tools such as Cadence Sigrity
  • Experience in 3D EM modeling using tools such as Ansys HFSS desired
  • Experience with implementation of on-board power converters, dc-dc step-up, buck and low-noise regulators
  • High current, low voltage, power sequencing design and debug experience
  • Knowledge of optical components (Lasers, VOAs, MPDs) is a plus
  • Experience with E/O and RF test equipment
  • Knowledge of PCB fabrication, fab & assembly design rules, product integration with mechanical components
  • RF circuit design experience a definite asset
  • Experience in noise simulation and filtering of analog driver and monitor circuit considered a plus

  • Independently design and simulate novel superconducting quantum circuits.
  • Develop and validate circuit layouts using the Anyon Systems design toolkit.
  • Develop experimental protocols and perform experimental work on superconducting quantum devices.
  • Collaborate closely with the nanofabrication team to guide implementation and process optimization.
  • Communicate technical results clearly in reports, presentations, and cross-functional meetings.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field with a strong focus on quantum information or quantum devices.
  • 13 years of postdoctoral research experience in quantum hardware, superconducting circuits, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Python and/or C++ for simulation or instrumentation.
  • Experience with microwave engineering and/or superconducting circuits and/or quantum optics.
  • Experience with design validation using FEM or similar tools.
  • Exposure to nanofabrication and superconducting qubits is highly desirable.
