Position Summary
The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for the successful operation of the Electrical Integration Department for automated test systems. The role requires strong technical leadership, personnel management, and cross-functional collaboration with the mechanical and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
This position reports to the Division Manager (Functional Test General Manager) and directly manages 10-12 engineers and technicians across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Our client is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Project Lead with at least 3+ years of experience in the Canadian buildings construction industry (electrical engineering focus). You will work on the conceptual and detailed design of building electrical systems in an integrated environment. Responsibilities include design coordination, preparation of working drawings and specifications, project management, site visits, and the opportunity to lead projects with strong support and mentorship from senior staff.JOB DUTIES
- Lead and collaborate on project delivery, including project management, contract administration, and field reviews for projects under construction.
- Maintain exceptional client service throughout project delivery, ensuring clear communication and acting on client feedback.
- Participate in business development with associates, including preparing fee proposals.
- Review and assess existing electrical systems and prepare condition reports.
- Provide technical advisory services to clients for specific electrical engineering projects.
- Work on a wide range of project assignments in building systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
- Prepare load calculations and analysis using industry-standard electrical engineering software.
- Strengthen existing skills and deliver engineering projects in alignment with client requirements and best practices in the industry.
- Conduct internal technical reviews and verification checks for reports, designs, and specifications.
- Perform other duties as required.
- 3 to 8 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, specifically in building systems (power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems).
- EIT or registered engineer in Ontario (or eligible for registration) is preferred.
- Electrical designers will also be considered.
- Familiarity with the electrical engineering environment, including detailed design drawings, tender packages, feasibility studies, budget estimates, shop drawing reviews, commissioning, and condition assessments.
- Extensive understanding of building construction and electrical systems.
- Detailed working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and the Ontario Building Code (OBC).

Responsibilities Include:
- Established and productive individual contributor
- Prepares plans, designs, engineering calculations and cost estimates for more complex projects generally involving three or more drawings and multiple trades
- Assesses design constructability and makes edits to existing design specifications with support and guidance from more senior engineers
- Manages and prioritizes own project activities in order to meet project deadlines for all assigned tasks
- Develops standards and reports with support and guidance from more senior engineers
- Effectively applies tools and methodologies used for product and service delivery (e.g. AutoCad. HHA Drawing standards)
- Gains exposure to creating project plans by helping Project Managers with entering the plan to the CRM
- Ensures technical accuracy and competency of design details of a project
- Accountable for all designs through to construction completion
- Ensures timesheets, logs and files are accurate and up to date
- Works independently with general supervision in solving problems
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years engineering consulting experience
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
- Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
- Good accuracy and documentation skills
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
- Passionate about buildings and the built environment
