We are looking to fill an Assistant Head Teacher position based out of our Midtown office, with travel as required to our other sites.
Qualifications
- Must be fluent in Mandarin and English – reading, speaking, and writing Simplified Chinese/pinyin.
- 5+ years experience in teaching required with preference given to those with a Bachelors or Master in teaching
- High energetic, creative, and great with young children is a must!
- Ability to speak Cantonese is a bonus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
General Responsibilities
The Assistant Head Teacher is to take a central role in assisting the Head Teacher and the Director to develop our curriculum and teach Mandarin classes in accordance with its shared values and our school development plans.
Specific Responsibilities
The Assistant Head Teacher will take responsibility for ensuring the best possible curriculum offer, provision, progress and achievement for all children.
They will work with the Head Teacher and Director to ensure that the school offers a high quality, exciting, engaging, well resourced, differentiated and well-matched curriculum for all children.
They will hold and attend regular meetings with the school management and teaching team.
In particular, the Assistant Head Teacher will be required to:
- Teaching classes based on assignment and schedule.
- Conducting research and collaborating with the Head Teacher and other teaching staff to develop a quality curriculum and learning resources.
- Establishing feasible timeframes to achieve the goals and objectives outlined in the curriculum.
- Creating detailed lesson plans and developing additional resources to support student learning & teacher success.
- Developing a range of digital resources such as PowerPoint slides and games, videos, digital tools (eg, Quizzlets) to optimize classroom learning and ensure ongoing learning outside of formal settings.
- Helping to document standard operating procedures (SOPs) required for the teaching team.
- Creating supplementary teacher aids to ensure teacher quality & success.
- Collecting feedback from students, teachers, and clients.Monitoring student progress and making relevant changes to curriculum.
- Setting up tests, exams, and other formal and informal assessments to gauge the effectiveness of curriculum.
- Identify training needs and to implement training plans for teachers to perform duties better including effective evaluation processes.
- Assisting in the development of new class & product offerings to deliver on Panda Mandarin’s mission

Sir James Douglas Out of School Club is looking for a passionate, professional, and engaging After-School Program Leader to join our team Monday - Friday 2:00pm-5:30pm October to June (with possibility to renew contract for summer and 2026/27 school year).
Working in partnership with two other program leaders and the Team Lead, you will plan, organize and facilitate fun and inclusive programs that focus on social and emotional growth.
Our centre celebrates children's unique abilities and works at every level to create an inclusive space where all children can meaningfully participate. We expect team members to demonstrate they are approachable, proactive, patient, and reliable. We take pride in providing our staff with hands-on support, enhanced staff-to-child ratios, and ongoing opportunities for learning.
After-School Care - 2:00-5:30pm

The Opportunity
- Were a highly team-oriented program! Together, with 2-3 other enthusiastic members of our childcare team, youll supervise a group of 24-29 children in the after-school program.
- Interested in art, Lego, cooking or anything else fun? Were expecting your creativity to shine in your programming. Youll have plenty of opportunity to incorporate your own interests and unique ability to enrich the children's experience in the program by planning and running activities and daily schedules.
- Youll attend daily team meetings to ensure were accomplishing our goals, and that youre feeling supported as a valued member of the team. Here well also regularly run through program policies and child care licensing requirements.
- Part of working with children is making a difference in their lives. Youll take pride in your work by helping children work through big feelings, social conflict, and guiding them towards independence. Youll also communicate with families and parents about each childs unique challenges and accomplishments.
- No task is too small. We work as a team to accomplish general housekeeping such as serving a snack daily, sanitizing furniture, stacking chairs, sweeping, and occasionally helping with laundry and dishes, etc.
- We care about our families - a lot. We offer an open-door environment where families are welcome to participate in and observe our programs at drop off and pick-up. Youll be expected to communicate with parents and caregivers about the daily activities, goals, development, ect. of their children as it relates to their involvement in the program.
- Confidence is key. Were looking for someone able to confidently lead a room and hold the attention of a group of 24-29 children. As long as youre open and willing to learn, we can teach you new skills and best practices.
Requirements
For this position, you must.
- Be 19 years of age or older
- Have a passion for working with children (prior experience in licensed childcare is preferred, but not mandatory)
- Be available to work Monday through Friday, between the hours of 2:00 - 6:00 PM
- Possess at least one of the following:
1. Responsible Adult Certification
2. ECE or ECEA Certification
3. Completed university level course in child studies
- Priority may be given to a candidate who possesses an ECE or ECEA certification
- Clear a criminal record check
- Have (or be willing to obtain) your First Aid & CPR level C
- Be able to provide two professional references
- Have a positive attitude and the ability to adapt and adjust plans quickly to meet the needs of children
