Job Summary:
The EHS Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and implementing the organization’s environmental, health, and safety programs. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, promotes a strong safety culture, and drives continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental stewardship. The EHS Supervisor provides guidance, training, and support to employees and supervisors to maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety
- Monitor, enforce, and continuously improve occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and injuries, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead and support safety committees, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
- Maintain safety documentation, records, and reports as required by legislation and company policy.
Environmental Compliance
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (waste management, emissions, spill response, etc.).
- Monitor and manage environmental programs such as recycling, waste reduction, and sustainability initiatives.
- Coordinate environmental reporting and audits.
Training & Development
- Deliver training on safety procedures, emergency response, hazard identification, and environmental compliance.
- Support supervisors and managers in promoting a proactive safety culture.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise EHS technicians, coordinators, or specialists (if applicable).
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, contractors, and external auditors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS into operations and projects.
- Assist in the Health and safety evaluation of new machinery and make recommendations to Management to make new equipment safer.
- Lead Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee and Environmental Committee
Qualifications & Skills:
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of local and federal occupational health & safety and environmental regulations.
- Professional certifications (CRSP, CSP, CHSC, CIH, or equivalent) considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and EHS management systems.
Working Conditions:

**Reporting to the Plant Manager, the EHS Manager is responsible for managing plant safety and environmental programs to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment. Implements, oversees, and adapts policies and programs to improve the facility's environmental and safety performance and ensures compliance with current and future regulations and standards. Plans and / or delivers programs to train managers and employees in work site safety and environmental practices. + Working with Operations to evaluate opportunities for recycling and waste reduction, reducing energy consumption, conserving water and evaluating new raw materials or replacements for existing raw materials
+ Identifying and implementing EHS training programs for employees and contractors
+ Coordinating industrial hygiene surveys, safety reviews, hazard analysis, accident investigations, and analyzing trends in injury/illness experience and hazards identified at the facility
+ Guiding and supporting all location management on injury reporting and timelines to provide to the Corporate EHS group
+ Supporting the Sr EHS Manager on Workers Comp management within the divisions to reduce financial impact
+ Providing WSIB Clearance letters to meet customer expectations
+ Supporting Operations is providing EHS documentation for third party accreditation

General Job Description
The EHS Specialist is responsible for TG Minto’s Environmental, Health and Safety Program and monitoring compliance with all relevant legislation at our Palmerston and Stratford locations, a company advocate. In addition, to provide training as required and assist in maintaining compliance with all legal and other requirements as they relate to Environmental, and Health and Safety legislation and standards. Interact with regulatory bodies as required.
EH&S Commitment
The EH&S Specialist supports both Stratford and Palmerston. Specific duties include ensuring that the EH&S Management System is maintained in accordance with ISO standards and with the EHS Manager, ensures performance reports of the EHS Management System is presented to the Senior Leadership Team for review and a basis for improvement. The EH&S Specialist will present to the EHS Manager all ISO related procedures and work instructions, and is ultimately responsible for EH&S on the site. EHS Specialist shares information upward to the EHS Manager and Corporate EH&S, as well as from Corporate EH&S to all employees as applicable.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitor and improve the Environmental Management System, ISO 14001 and the Occupational Health & Safety System
- Ensure the facility operates within applicable environmental and health and safety laws and regulations and policies
- Participate on the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee and Environmental Committee
- Develop and provide guidance on Environmental, Health and Safety issues and policies
- Assist with facilitating environmental and health and safety training programs
- Act as a liaison for the facility regarding health and safety and environmental issues
- Coordinate health, safety and environmental audits
- Ensure governmental reporting is completed on a timely basis
- Provide meaningful statistics to management in a timely manner to assist in continued improvement of environmental and workplace health and safety practices
- Assist in the health and safety evaluation of new machinery and make recommendations to the EH&S Manager to make new equipment safer.
- Develop, implement and facilitate where necessary training programs, and or training videos, in support of TG Minto’s Health and Safety program.
- Working with the EHS Manager, support, coach, counsel leaders in employee relations and legislative matters and assist in facilitating resolution with team member issues. When necessary, participate in the performance management and corrective action process.
- Daily plant safety audits and activities designed to monitor the effectiveness of the company’s EHS programs
- Assist in health and safety training for such areas as new hire orientation, WHMIS, Lift Truck, Tugger, Cranes, Respirator training, Fire Prevention, Safe Solvent Handling, Isocyanates, etc.
- Maintenance of the Hazard Communications System, WHMIS (SDS’s), Hazard Alerts preparation
- Develop and deliver SOS safety talks
- Ensure medical surveillance testing is scheduled for paint department team members on an annual basis
- Air quality and noise testing is scheduled as required
- Field health and safety concerns where necessary
- Reporting accidents, accident trends, and countermeasures to TG Minto Management, JHSC and team members on a daily, and monthly basis
- OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management System
- Implementation and maintenance of the system according to regulations
- Monthly reporting of accident summary and EHS report to TGNA
- Work with the AGM, Corporate Administration to determine overall objectives and goals for EH&S along with reviewing policies and procedures for TG Minto.
