**Job Description**
As an Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of essential machinery. Your duties will include using hand and power tools to fix multiple small engines such as forklifts, scissor lifts, genie booms, and various other equipment. Additionally, you will be tasked with reading and interpreting technical drawings and specification sheets.
**Responsibilities**
Repair and maintain small engines such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and genie booms.
Use hand and power tools to perform repairs.
Read and interpret technical drawings and specification sheets.
Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in inclement weather.
Maneuver around obstructions and handle materials and equipment in various sizes and weights.
**Essential Skills**
5+ years of mechanic experience.
Ability to repair forklifts, scissor lifts, and genie booms.
Proficient with and ownership of basic hand and power tools.
Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience with cranes is a plus.
Red Seal Certification is an asset.
Experience in welding, gouging, and/or fitting pressure vessels or ballast tanks.
Experience working in shipyards or dry docks.
Forklift licenses.
Skills in rigging and using hoists.

**Job Description:**
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented **Heavy Equipment Mechanic** to join our team! In this role you will get to **repair and maintain heavy equipment, utilizing your hands-on experience in equipment operation at the Faro Mine Complex. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual who can efficiently troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues while ensuring all safety protocols are strictly followed.**
_Local Candidates Preferred but open to candidates on a fly-in/fly-out rotational basis._
**What You'll Be Doing:**
+ Work with management to pre-plan and schedule daily and overall heavy equipment maintenance and repair to prevent functional breakdowns.
+ Performing diagnostics, repair, preventative maintenance, and safety checks on all heavy equipment.
+ Maintaining heavy equipment maintenance and repair records.
+ Physically securing equipment to ensure safety during maintenance activities.
+ Maintenance and repair of equipment hydraulic systems.
+ Determining methods and sequence of troubleshooting, repair operations, and modifications to equipment by working from manufacturers manuals, drawings, and specifications, installation layouts and sketches and verbal or written instructions.
+ Performs such typical operations as dismantling, diagnosing problem cause, repairing, mechanical servicing, and reassembling, installing and test operations of assigned equipment.
+ Replace worn or broken parts, make adjustments and alignments as required, clean areas, and prepare equipment for full service.
**What Required Skills You'll Bring:**
+ Heavy Equipment Mechanic Journey person with Provincial or Red seal with 5 at least years experience
+ Proficient with basic computer systems including Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications and previous exposure to CMMS systems is an advantage.
+ Experienced in using mechanical tools of the trade including diagnostic tools. Extensive experience in hydraulics.
+ Ability to interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and manufacturer diagrams and manuals, and follow written and verbal instructions in accordance with established procedures.
+ Valid class 5 driver's license with clean abstract.
+ Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
+ Ability to work away from home for up to 21 days and in adverse conditions.
+ Ability to work productively both within a team and when working alone. Strong customer service skills.
This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.

**What You'll Be Doing:**
+ Work with management to pre-plan and schedule daily and overall heavy equipment maintenance and repair to prevent functional breakdowns.
+ Performing diagnostics, repair, preventative maintenance, and safety checks on all heavy equipment.
+ Maintaining heavy equipment maintenance and repair records.
+ Physically securing equipment to ensure safety during maintenance activities.
+ Maintenance and repair of equipment hydraulic systems.
+ Determining methods and sequence of troubleshooting, repair operations, and modifications to equipment by working from manufacturers manuals, drawings, and specifications, installation layouts and sketches and verbal or written instructions.
+ Performs such typical operations as dismantling, diagnosing problem cause, repairing, mechanical servicing, and reassembling, installing and test operations of assigned equipment.
+ Replace worn or broken parts, make adjustments and alignments as required, clean areas, and prepare equipment for full service.
**What Required Skills You'll Bring:**
+ Heavy Equipment Mechanic Journey person with Provincial or Red seal with 5 at least years experience
+ Proficient with basic computer systems including Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications and previous exposure to CMMS systems is an advantage.
+ Experienced in using mechanical tools of the trade including diagnostic tools. Extensive experience in hydraulics.
+ Ability to interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and manufacturer diagrams and manuals, and follow written and verbal instructions in accordance with established procedures.
+ Valid class 5 driver's license with clean abstract.
+ Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
+ Ability to work away from home for up to 21 days and in adverse conditions.
+ Ability to work productively both within a team and when working alone. Strong customer service skills.

- Complete reports to record problems and work performed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience: 3-5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Training/Certifications: B.C. Certificate of Qualification, and/or Interprovincial Ticket as a Commercial Transport Mechanic or Heavy Duty Mechanic Ticket, Class 1 driver's license or Class 3 with air, Province of British Columbia Commercial Vehicle Inspectors Certificate
Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of Hours of Service and Provincial truck driving regulations, ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical systems, welding and fabrication ability
Travel Requirements: Knowledge of the City of Squamish and surrounding area
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Forklift certification and experience is an asset.
- First aid certification is an asset.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical assessment.
- Proven ability to follow safe work procedures and complete field risk assessments.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

Additional Information
Rate of Pay: $46.75
Hours: Flexible hours 40 hours per week, Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Premiums:
- $.00/hour for a Red Seal Certification
- 1.00/hour for a tool allowance
- 0.75/hour for a Class 1 or Class 3 drivers' license
- 0.75/hour for a Vehicle Inspection Certification
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is completed in a large shop environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
