What you'll do.
The Front end Loader/operator responsibilities range from entry level tasks to a leadership role. The incumbent will succeed in accomplishing their duties by maintaining a constant awareness of their surroundings by ensuring all activities and responsibilities associated with this position meet Benmet Steel and Metal's operational standards.
Job Description
- Move material to allocated areas in yard
- Load and unload trucks
- Perform general housekeeping duties to keep yard clean and organized
- Perform some preventative maintenance on equipment (i.e. greasing)
- Ensure piles are safely piled to avoid material from falling or piling down
- Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of yard
- Achieve or exceed operational targets
- Reviewing, tracking and filing equipment pre-operational checklists
- Report accidents/incidents/environmental issues to upper management
- This is a hands on role that involves walking the facility, inspecting materials and finished products.
Requirements
- Familiarity with heavy equipment, Front end Loaders.
- Experience as a heavy equipment operator (Scrap Material Handler)
- Minimum of three years of experience with scrap metal
- Must have a strong knowledge of ferrous metal
- Must be accustomed to repetitive movements, lifting and year round working outdoors in a safe and efficient manner.
- Work outside in a variety of weather conditions

Job Description
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, this position requires strong operation skills, adherence to safety regulations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Your primary responsibility will be to operate a crane while supporting the overall operations.
This position is
Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm and alternating Saturdays
with one day off during the week.
What you're responsible for:
- Safely operating various equipment to lift, move, and position metal materials within the facility and yard
- You may be asked to operator the following heavy equipment: Crane, Shear, Loader, Forklift
- Lifting and transporting metal materials using attachments such as magnets or grapples, and safely place them in designated areas or processing equipment
- Loading and unloading trucks and containers, ensuring proper weight distribution and load security
- Collaborating and communicating effectively with team members, supervisors, and other personnel
- During any down time, you may be required to perform general yard maintenance and perform cleaning around the yard
Qualifications

- You have an operator certification and/or experience operating heavy equipment
- You have a minimum of 1 years experience operating in a heavy industrial setting
- You have attention to detail and the ability to accurately position and handle different types of metal materials
- You are comfortable using various crane attachments, such as magnets or grapples
