Your Opportunity
Stantec is looking for a High Voltage Cable Engineer to join our team in the Winnipeg- Potage office. This position can be located out of any of Stantec's south or central Ontario offices. It is open to remote options outside of the Winnipeg or Ontario regions.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform feasibility studies including preliminary cable design calculations.
- Prepare preliminary cable installation design drawings.
- Preparing cable specifications for the design, manufacturing, testing, delivery, and installation of high voltage ac and dc underground and submarine cables.
- Reviewing and evaluating bid documents.
- Reviewing cable test plans as well as witnessing and reviewing factory/site cable testing.
- Reviewing cable installation plans and witnessing cable system installation activities.
- Participate in technical and industry trade organizations.
- Participate in Business Development activities to grow Stantec's cable business.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience in the specification, design, manufacturing, testing and installation of high voltage AC and DC submarine and land cables.
- Knowledge of cable jointing (both factory and field).
- Knowledge of submarine cable protection techniques.
- Experience in calculating cable ampacities and thermal effects on cable ratings/design.
- Familiar with cable installation techniques for both land and submarine cable.
- Familiar with cable monitoring systems such as DTS, DAS, RTTR.
- Knowledgeable on cable fault locating and repair operations.
- Familiarity with international cable standards
- Knowledge of marine survey requirements for cable installation
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer preferred
- Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in the engineering of high voltage ac and dc power cables from 25 kV up to 600 kV.

The High Voltage Field Services Technologist will be responsible for working with team members in the safe execution of field services duties.
The Technologist will perform field services duties including, but not limited to, acceptance/maintenance testing and inspection of electrical power installations such as: switchgears, circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, protective relays, insulation systems, etc. Other duties include reading and marking up electrical drawings and schematics and assist with construction work of small-scale electrical installations (such as protective relay retrofits). What will you do as a High Voltage Field Services Technologist ?

Under the responsibility of the Estimation Director and under the technical supervision of the Electrical Director, the MV-HV (600v to 330kv) Electrical Estimator analyzes the needs of each renewable energy project tendered in North America. He must check and/or establish the equipment required for medium or high voltage energy (substation, overhead power line), check the logic of single lines, establish the quantities of necessary material (civil works, steel structures, equipment electrical, busbars, command and control cable, connection to departure and arrival lines). Performs cost analysis, requests, obtains and analyzes submissions from subcontractors, analyzes contractual conditions for the completion of a potential project and assists in the preparation of technical and commercial Borea's proposal. The medium and high voltage elements of each renewable energy project are crucial to a competitive proposal by Borea.

Hold a DEC or Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other relevant training and experience;
Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in estimating large construction projects;
Communicate easily in English and French, both orally and in writing;
Have some experience in the renewable energy sector;
Excellent command of MS Project, Excel and knowledge of Bid2win is an asset;
Demonstrate intellectual curiosity, an excellent analytical mind, thoroughness and great attention to detail;
Versatility, autonomy and resourcefulness;
Excellent ability to manage pressure and stress.
What you will do to complete this mission successfully:
Check the plans and specifications (if they exist) and collect all the information/documents required for the completion of the project (construction drawings, specifications, addenda, submission forms and general and special conditions);
Analyze the drawings and specifications, contractual conditions and identify to the Estimation Manager the elements at risk and/or opportunities;
Coordinate, with external consultants, preliminary engineering and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering, quality or availability of materials;
Prepare and send technical questions and answers (QRT) to customers;
Develop a plan on how to build and plan the project as well as the methods used;
Prepare the preliminary work schedule as well as optimize the work sequence;
Prepare and send tender documents to qualified suppliers and subcontractors;
Analyze the content of submissions received from suppliers and subcontractors;
Extract quantities (number of cubic meters, length of roads, length of electrical cables, etc.) with company tools and provide detailed quantity statements;
Attend coordination meetings, site visits and assess the difficulty of the project to be estimated;
Perform project cost estimation using the software used by the company;
Prepare the general costs of the project (supervision, general conditions, offices, insurance, specific equipment, security, quality, etc.);
Ensure that the estimate is structured according to the cost breakdowns of the different projects;
Be in constant communication with external consultants, subcontractors and suppliers during the tender process until the contract is awarded;
Participate in closing submissions;
Following obtaining the contract for a project, participate in the transfer meeting with the construction teams;
All other related tasks.

Senior High Voltage (NETA) Electrical Technician
Spark Power, a trusted partner in power in North America, is looking for a High Voltage (NETA) Technician within the GTA area. As a High Voltage (NETA) Technician, you will be performing a wide range of electrical testing, maintenance, and commissioning activities, and playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our clients' electrical systems.
What will you do you as Senior High Voltage (NETA) Electrical Technician?
- Conduct electrical testing and commissioning on a variety of power systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, switchgears, and other electrical apparatuses.
- Maintain and Commission Power distribution equipment including Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers, HV Switches, HV/MV/LV Cables and Instrument Transformers
- Perform field testing, verification and programming of various Low Voltage Trip Units from manufacturer such as GE, Eaton, Schneider, Siemens, and ABB
- Familiar with Electrical lockout/Tag out procedure and have Electrical Safety Awareness
- Read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics, AC three-line, logic diagrams and SLDs
- Inspect, test, operate and troubleshooting AC & DC control
- Be familiar with industry Codes and Standards (OESC, IEEE, NETA)
- Ability and willingness to travel for out-of-town commissioning or maintenance projects
- Familiar with testing different types of high voltage and low voltage equipment.
- Report, record, compute and process electrical test information in accordance with accepted standard practices
- Co-ordinate the day-to-day functions on a job-by-job basis, such as but not limited to, compliance with all Health and Safety standards and regulations, availability of necessary resources such as manpower, equipment and materials, resolving conflicts, timely and accurate submission of paperwork
- Co-ordinate sales efforts with Branch Manager, such as but not limited to, repeat business, quotations and customer contact.

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we're looking for:
- Post secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
- Minimum of 3 years' experience with high voltage testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and commissioning
- NETA 2 or NETA 3 is a definite asset
- Required to provide emergency services to the company's customers on short notice
- Required to provide scheduled "On Call" services on a rotation basis
- Required to work in industrial and outdoor substation environment. Services will be performed within Health and Safety standards and regulations
- Knowledge/Experience using Doble M4100 to perform transformer diagnostic tests
