The Foremanis responsible for leading the crew and installing electrical systems in accordance with current electrical codes and customer specifications, for performing jobs safely plus efficiently, and for keeping customers and equipment running.

Safety

Experience

As the largest test lab on the west coast of North America, the High Voltage lab is capable of conducting distribution and transmission level high voltage tests on all types of equipment such as transformers, insulators, switchgear, bushings, cables, instrument transformers, transmission line hardware, surge arrestors, SF6 insulated equipment, and transformer rectifier units (TRUs). The lab’s independent, third-party status, and experienced technical staff of more than 30 years enhance the credibility of manufacturers’ test reports.
Our lab offers a full range of qualification and certification tests, as well as custom testing solutions. Condition assessment tests may be performed in the field or in the lab to evaluate the equipment condition. It also has a long history of conducting forensic analysis investigations to identify the cause of failures and providing expert witness services.
Under the direction of the Division Manager, the successful candidate will provide technical and professional leadership to a team of Engineers and Technicians to achieve work program and department objectives. The Team Lead will excel at enhancing the scope of services and work prioritization to ensure that the team is focused on delivering core work on time, on budget and to the required level of safety, quality, and customer service.
• Lead and support in the execution of projects of varying complexities which would include a variety of field testing, consulting and laboratory work.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the team by actively mentoring and coaching junior members and training the team members in safe operating procedures and best practices.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated a minimum of three years of direct experience in managing all aspects of a highly qualified team of technical experts.
• Registration as a Professional engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC
• Strong project management and goal-setting skills with the ability to work with senior management and subject matter experts.

Construction Project Manager (High Voltage Electrical)
Location: Nanaimo, BC (On Site)
Salary: $110,000 - $170,000
Overview
Youll be joining a well-established electrical general contractor specializing in high voltage installations across the Transmission, Distribution, and Energy Generation sectors. Based out of the Nanaimo office, you'll lead complex infrastructure projects, working closely with field teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure seamless delivery from start to finish.
Must Haves
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in the contracting industry (excluding oil and gas)
- Hands-on background in the trades with strong knowledge of field production environments
- Proven track record managing electrical construction projects in transmission, distribution, or energy generation
- Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain detailed project schedules using industry tools
- Strong skills in contract administration including drafting, review, and negotiation
- Real-time cost control and revenue management experience
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, particularly under challenging conditions
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint)
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites as required
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
