Position Summary:
The Assistant Manager will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the hotel, ensuring an outstanding guest experience at every touchpoint. As the right hand to the Hotel Manager, this position will assume leadership in their absence, support staff across departments, and be a visible, welcoming presence throughout the property. The ideal candidate is proactive, personable, detail-oriented, and flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Hotel Manager in overseeing hotel operations and guest services.
- Act as the manager-on-duty during evenings, weekends, and the Manager’s absence.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction are consistently met.
- Respond to guest concerns with professionalism, empathy, and a solution-focused approach.
- Lead by example in providing hands-on support to front desk and housekeeping teams.
- Coordinate shift coverage, daily scheduling, and on-the-fly adjustments as needed.
- Train and support junior staff, fostering a welcoming and supportive workplace culture.
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and vendor coordination.
- Maintain a strong presence on the floor to ensure team engagement and efficient service.
- Uphold company policies and contribute to a family-oriented, team-first atmosphere.
- Share on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2–3 years of hospitality or guest service experience, ideally in a hotel setting.
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience is strongly preferred.
- Passion for providing exceptional guest experiences.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as part of a flexible schedule.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Calm under pressure and confident making decisions in a leadership capacity.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using property management systems (PMS experience an asset).
