Position Overview:
As an HR Specialist, you will partner directly with site operations teams to define and execute HR strategies that align with business objectives and key initiatives.
Please note that this is an entry-level role and work will be performed onsite in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
- Analyze trends and develop strategies to resolve HR issues and make a positive impact on business results
- Responsible for employee relations issues in a designated area or region and elevates serious issues to appropriate HR management level as required
- Create and maintain overall recruiting strategy and staffing plan for assigned location(s) in collaboration with the hiring manager(s)
- Responsible for full-cycle recruiting activities including but not limited to screening resumes, performing in-person, phone and virtual interviews for assigned location(s)
- Manages all activities across the employee lifecycle- ‘Hire to Retire’, providing guidance and advice to managers to action and resolve matters
Experience and Abilities:
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of recruiting experience in Talent Acquisition, Recruiting or HR
- Experience coordinating with full-cycle recruitment
- Experience managing applicant flow through use of an Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
- Ability to foster positive relationships and guide conflict resolution
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and problem- solving abilities
- Ability to identify and successfully make use of non-traditional recruitment method, applying creativity and originality to reach passive candidates
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize workload and be self-directed
- Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Excellent people skills, able to manage the applicant experience and motivate hiring managers
Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience
- CPHR/SHRM designation considered an asset

Responsibilities

- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation, systems access, and orientation support

Position Overview
The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is seeking two collaborative and solutions-oriented Human Resources (HR) Generalists to join our growing HR team. One position is a full-time, indeterminate role, and the other is a 12-month maternity and parental leave coverage. Both roles are eligible for participation in AFNs benefits plan following the standard waiting period.
These roles are responsible for delivering frontline HR services across the employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, benefits administration, policy support, and leave/disability coordination.
Working closely with the Director of HR and other team members, the HR Generalist will play a key role in ensuring staff and leadership receive timely, accurate, and culturally competent support. The successful candidate will be adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing both strategic and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations and Administration
- Serve as a first point of contact for HR-related questions from staff and managers.
- Maintain HR systems and employee records (e.g., BambooHR), ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare payroll summaries and benefit updates.
- Assist with day-to-day administrative HR functions and internal communications.
Recruitment, Onboarding, and Offboarding
- Support full-cycle recruitment, including postings, interviews, reference checks, and offers.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation processes.
- Prepare employment documentation and facilitate employee transitions.
- Conduct exit interviews and ensure smooth offboarding procedures.

REQUIRED:
36 years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in recruitment and/or compensation-focused roles
Experience working with both Canadian and U.S. employment markets
Skilled in salary benchmarking and job evaluation using compensation benchmarking tools (e.g., BenchMarket, Mercer, Payscale, Radford)
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both candidates and hiring managers
Comfort in a high-growth, constantly evolving environment

Job Overview:
We are searching for a seasoned HR Generalist with 2-6 years of experience. Candidates with more experience are also welcome to apply! The HR Generalist will be one of the key faces in the company with the ability to develop strong working relationships with various stakeholders and have a strong understanding of various HR functions. The HR Generalist will perform work in Employee Relations, Performance Management, Recruitment & Onboarding, Benefit Administration, and other day-to-day HR tasks. The position reports directly to the HR Manager.
Please note this role is a hybrid role, requiring at least 2 days in office per week. The successful candidate must be able to be in office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Job Duties:
- Maintaining HR records and updating employee personnel file accordingly
- Assist in Recruitment, as needed
- Onboarding
- Send/monitor background checks, and draft offer letters
- Ensure new hires are set up in internal systems and prepared for their first day
- Collect feedback on the initial onboarding experience via a survey after the first week
- Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates and new hires
- Lead HR onboarding sessions
- Conduct 90-day check-ins with staff and share feedback with relevant managers
- Maintain and update onboarding documentation
- Monitor HR metrics related to recruitment and onboarding
- Benefit Administration
- Manage employee lifecycle changes, including title updates, managerial transitions, and promotions.
- Support in-person social activities and corporate events, including health and wellness initiatives
- Work with the Learning & Development team on training initiatives
- Performance Management
- Setting up and overseeing the performance review process
- Assisting managers with handling any performance concerns
- Respond to employee queries and provide support and assistance to staff
- Process departures and terminations, as needed
- Work closely and provide support to various stakeholders i.e. Other HR team members, Admin department, Employees, Managers, and Senior Leadership Team
- Provide suggestions on policy and process improvements
- Other related HR duties
Requirements
- At least 2 – 6 years of relevant experience in an HR role
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study
- Completed HR coursework
- Ability to come into the office at least 2 times per week
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of Canadian legislation
- Good organization and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of French is an asset
