The DCM is responsible for the overall performance of the Distribution Centers (DC’s) that they lead as well as ensuring that all Health, Safety and C-TPAT policies are followed. The DCM works alongside other departments to ensure that Hamilton Kent appropriately caters to the needs of our customers. The DCM will have responsibility for and ownership of an operating budget
Principal Responsibilities
- Manage the overall Distribution Center Operations according to the existing safety, service, quality and C-TPAT standards defined by Hamilton Kent
- Managing and implementing workbench software to ensure Timely Customer Delivery for all out-bound shipments and stock transfers within an SAP-EWM warehouse setting
- Apply SAP Tools – Handling Unit management, Wave and RF capabilities to ensure efficiency of DC members is effective and efficient
- Develop, promote, train and manage the different aspects of Health & Safety, as well as Human Resources for all DC operations and team members

- Ensure proper training of all DC team members according to internal standards and provincial/state laws and regulations specific to our industry including monthly safety & employee meetings
- Develop, implement and execute actions to support department KPIs, Goals & Objectives and related metrics & reports
- Utilize Continuous Improvement principles to make operations more efficient while improving customer service through the implementation and execution of Lean Principles, Problem Solving, 5S Programs, Gemba Walks, etc
- Manage and resolve customer complaints and corrective actions in partnership with Customer Service and Sales
- Manage inventory accuracy programs through the use of RF technology and cycle counts including planning, managing and participating in the annual physical inventory
- Assist in the development of the annual operating budget and monitor results monthly thereafter to address variances between budget and actual
- Coordinate & manage repairs and purchases for the DC in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager and/or Site Maintenance Manager
Requirements
- College or University Degree preferably in Operations/ Logistics Management or equivalent experience

- WHIMS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, First Aid Certifications, etc an asset

Our expectations:
Reporting to the Distribution Center Production Planning Manager and working in partnership with various other departments within the Store Support Center, the Production Planning Analyst within the dynamic distribution center network is responsible for creating the long-term plan for the distribution center. The selected individual will be responsible for managing and optimizing production processes to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction. You will play a key role in planning production activities to achieve performance and efficiency objectives while considering available production capacities.
The scope of this role includes all distribution centers across Canada and the expanding network of direct delivery centers. This role will support distribution center operations, the demand management and replenishment department, as well as the finance team as a center of excellence for inventory management and will act as a key collaborator with distribution center general managers and finance. The candidate must understand risks related to building capacity and recommend a workforce plan to meet projected volumes. They will also be responsible for developing short-term guidance that enables the application of standards set by our key performance indicators (KPIs).
The role:
Production Planning
Develop and maintain production schedules based on demand forecasts, production capacities, and inventory levels.
Coordinate production activities with other departments (procurement, operations, and transportation) to ensure a smooth workflow.
Create short-term inbound ad outbound projections and reports using historical and supply chain data.
Forecast labor and building utilization by analyzing historical data and sales forecasts.
Resource and Production Capacity Management
Analyze and adjust required resources (labor, equipment, raw materials) to meet production needs while respecting the available production capacities of distribution centers.
Regularly evaluate production capacities to ensure they are adequate for production goals and propose adjustments as needed.
Collaborate with the Operations team to efficiently maximize building capacity by providing inbound and outbound forecasts and analyzing inventory levels and/or needs.
Monitoring and Analysis
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production rates, total order production time, and production delays/bottlenecks.
Identify potential production capacity issues and propose solutions to improve processes and reduce performance gaps.
Using supply chain reports, establish workforce plans by period and quarter.
Create ad hoc reports.
Communication and Coordination
Collaborate with the Operations team to forecast hiring needs.
Work with production teams, stock managers, and suppliers to ensure effective communication and smooth coordination of operations.
Prepare regular reports on production status and inventory levels for management.
Analyze forecast accuracy to provide feedback on errors and inaccuracies.
Produce weekly, regional, and consolidated operational metrics.
Continuous Improvement
Identify process improvement opportunities and implement initiatives to increase efficiency and quality while optimizing production capacity utilization.
Participate in continuous improvement projects and internal audits.
Collaborate with continuous improvement leaders by providing and analyzing data to support the integration of improvement opportunities.
The qualifications we are looking for: 2 to 4 years of prior experience in production planning or a similar role within a distribution center environment is preferred, or experience as a supply chain analyst.
Bachelor’s degree in production management, logistics, industrial engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) is a strong asset.
Experience with SQL server is a plus.
Advanced knowledge of software applications, including Excel and Access.
Experience in inventory management in a distribution environment is an asset.
Analytical mindset and troubleshooting skills for creatively identifying and solving complex problems.
Understanding of Production Capacities: Ability to assess production capacities and adjust plans based on constraints and opportunities related to those capacities.

The Distribution Center Supervisor (Day Operations) will be responsible for supervising the work and employees of assigned operational activities and teams to ensure efficient, productive, and timely execution. You will be responsible for leading projects to improve productivity, quality, and services related to distribution, inventory control, and external storage.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize, direct, and monitor daily activities, including receiving, storage, order picking, packing, shipping, maintenance, and inventory control, while ensuring that all operations comply with company policies.
• Supervise material handlers and delivery drivers, ensuring that all steps of merchandise-related procedures are followed.
• Ensure material handlers and delivery drivers are properly trained. Ensure employees effectively use the WMS system.
• Establish, report, monitor, and improve key supply chain performance indicators (KPIs). Analyze and regularly report on key performance indicators related to supply chain operations, security, and delivery performance.
• Leverage performance management and KPIs to ensure that every distribution center activity is efficient and achieves its productivity level.
• Manage the work schedule and ensure that tasks are assigned efficiently and completed correctly.
• Control inventory levels to minimize excess inventory and reduce carrying costs. Optimize distribution center layout, workflow, and processes to improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and increase productivity, while maintaining a clean and organized distribution center environment.
• Develop and update operational procedures and best practices.
• Optimize equipment utilization while adhering to health, safety, and certification guidelines, and monitor equipment maintenance.
• Analyze key performance indicators and implement cost-cutting measures without compromising quality.
