As a Water Resources Designer, you're responsibilities will be:
- Preparation of design calculations for sewer capacities, storm drainage, low-impact development measures, inlet and outlet structures, overland flow, etc.;
- Assistance with the preparation of design briefs, functional servicing reports and maintenance manuals;
- Assistance with hydraulic and hydrologic modelling exercises including pond modelling, watershed modelling, channel modelling, sewer modelling, and water balance calculations;
- Provision of AutoCAD support where required including delineation of drainage areas, floodplains and various measurements;
- Preparation of cost estimates, fee proposals and other estimates;
- On-going review of opportunities to improve project efficiencies;
- Staying up to date with policy, guidelines, and new technologies;
- Attending meetings, workshops and other events as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited university or college degree, with a focus on Civil Engineer, water resources or environmental studies;
- Water resources project experience in the public or private sector, particularly with respect to land development;
- Ability to work independently and within a supportive team environment;
- Knowledge of provincial and municipal environmental regulations and guidelines;
- A creative edge and understanding of the gray area between theory and practicality;
- Ability to plan, organize and manage projects, deadlines, and clients;
- Strong analytical skills with knowledge in hydrologic and hydraulic computer modeling platforms, and Excel;
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral;
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and technical writing skills;

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Water Resources Engineer within the Kitchener Land Development Division, you will:
Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models
Design stormwater management facilities and low-impact development (LID) solutions
Conduct floodplain mapping and watercourse modeling (creeks and rivers)
Prepare stormwater management reports, drawings, and water balance impact assessments
Contribute to projects from concept through detailed design and implementation
What You Bring to the Team
Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering (Master’s considered an asset)
5–7 years of relevant experience, preferably in consulting
P.Eng designation in good standing
Proficiency with modeling and design software including:
HEC-2/HEC-RAS
GAWSER
MIDUSS

XP-SWMM
MS Office Suite
Familiarity with AutoCAD (considered an asset)

As a Senior Water Resources Engineer / Project Manager, you will join our Guelph, Ontario office as part of our Eastern Engineering team. The successful applicant will lead a variety of large and small-scale infrastructure projects including Master Plans, Environmental Assessments, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, and construction, that span multiple disciplines across Matrix. We are looking to hire a motivated individual with demonstrated experience leading and delivering projects on schedule and on budget.
The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of municipal engineering and water resource focused projects with responsibilities as follows:
- Lead a multi-disciplinary project team to undertake small and large-scale infrastructure projects
- Manage the design and execution for civil and water resources engineering projects including; stormwater management, flood mitigation, water and wastewater servicing, roadways, stream and natural channel rehabilitation
- Prepare, review and support technical reports for construction documents (plans, cost estimates and specifications)
- Coordinate design team activities, mentor junior and intermediate team members, and build relationships with other business leaders
- Develop and maintain client relationships, both as part of project execution and business development activities
- Ensure client objectives and expectations are met and exceeded, while maintaining project scope, budget, schedule and technical quality

What We Are Looking For
- Undergraduate degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering

- Experience in the management, design and construction of municipal engineering projects and report preparation
- Familiarity with local planning and approval processes
- Understanding of hydrology, open channel and pipe flow hydraulics and stormwater management design
- Proven success in project proposal preparation and presentations
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Possess a valid Class G driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Your key responsibilities:
- Support water resources and stormwater management projects, including flood studies, hydraulic structure assessments and sizing, concept design development, stormwater separation and master planning, and climate change assessments;
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for urban infrastructure (1D, dual drainage, 1D-2D), transportation drainage systems, and floodplain mapping, among others;
- Assist in the development of stormwater management strategies to mitigate flooding, protect the environment, and address climate resilience;
- Prepare project deliverables, including models/designs, calculations, opinion of probable cost;
- Manage projects or oversee technical teams to keep projects on schedule and budget;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements; and
- Engage in professional development and contribute to the mentorship of junior team members while growing your own expertise.
Your capabilities & credentials:
- Undergraduate Degree in Civil, Water Resources, Environmental, or Coastal Engineering (equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered);
- 5+ years of relevant experience in water resources or stormwater management field;
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada;
- Experience supporting projects as a technical contributor, with a desire to develop project management and client relationship skills;
- Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools, such as PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, or equivalent software; and
- A collaborative mindset with a commitment to professional growth and continuous learning.
Additional skills and experience that will make you stand out:
- Experience in technical oversight and/or mentorship of junior engineers would be considered a strong asset;
- Experience in Atlantic Canada would be considered a strong asset; and
- Background in engineering consulting, particularly in water resource and stormwater management projects would be considered a strong asset.

Based in Sudbury, ON , the Civil Engineering Technician (Water Resources) will have a wide range of duties which focus on assisting in all aspects of Engineering project delivery.
What You’ll Do:
As part of the TULLOCH Engineering team, you will:
- Prepare plans, proposals, specifications, supporting documents, reports, and permit applications
- Work in a team to develop Site Plan preparation documents including site services, grading, drainage, and stormwater management
- Be entrusted with ensuring effective management of stormwater management, drainage and hydrology, wastewater conveyance, potable water distribution, earthworks, transportation, cost estimating, and other supporting areas of Water Management projects
- Prepare the preliminary and final linear infrastructure, road, and street designs
- Work in a larger team on Subdivision development projects
- Be responsible for construction inspections on various projects
Who You Are:
- You are willing to travel for site inspections and fieldwork on occasion
- You can pivot and alter approach to accomplish desired results
- You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
- You are trusted with the freedom to work independently while contributing to overall team success
The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a relevant field of study (Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Mining Engineering, or Natural Resources). Additionally, you should have:
- Knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD is considered an asset
- Experience in the use of Total Station and GPS Survey Equipment is considered an asset
- High motivation with results-oriented focus
- Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
