To support the activities of continuously developing the services offering. Assisting with Implementation of best practice solutions for new and existing business across the country.
This role will start working as part of the central engineering support function within the business the Solutions and Implementation Engineer-In-Training and will transition to provide support to Regional Operations Directors. The successful candidate will support business development opportunities by assessing risks and evaluating financial requirements. This individual will identify solutions to optimise the operations on current facilities and will be expected to positively contribute to the performance, growth and profitability of the business.
This role will have the opportunity to be exposed to a breadth of aspects of the business including Finance, HR, Sales, Health and Safety, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Business Development. This role will include project management for projects greater than $1 million.
To work with the operational teams involved to convert work winning opportunities into successful and profitable contracts
To support contracts with engineering expertise and assist bids where required, to ensure accurate and competitive solutions are delivered.
To develop our tools and processes and be a leader to implement them into the existing operational contracts.
To champion innovation and streamline technology usage in the division
Work in partnership with other areas of the business to provide a consistent approach to all our operations. E.g. finance, supply chain, HR. This will consist of assessing elements of the delivery and working to provide a best practice solution.
To implement these initiatives to ensure best practise is adopted by all our contracts.

The A&N team delivers advanced systems integration for defense applications across air and naval platforms. The Role
As Cooke continues to advance its global digital transformation, the Solution Architect plays a pivotal role in designing scalable, reusable technology solutions that balance business goals with technical excellence. Working across fusion Capability Teams, Product Teams, and the Digital Strategy group, the Solution Architect ensures that solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, security principles, and Cooke’s long‑term vision. The architect partners closely with Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) who steward our Minimum Viable Architecture (MVA) model, ensuring solution intent is clearly captured and aligns to reusable patterns even in the absence of a formal Enterprise Architecture function.
Reporting to the Digital Strategy & IT Business Management team, the Solution Architect:
- Creates end‑to‑end solution architectures that integrate applications, data, cloud services, and infrastructure.
- Guides delivery teams, vendors, and integrators to ensure solutions are realized according to design.
- Collaborates with Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) to shape solution intent and reusable MVA patterns.
- Balances short‑term project needs with long‑term scalability and maintainability.
- Champions best practices for security, integration, and data governance across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilites:
Architecture & Design Governance
- Translate business and capability requirements into secure, scalable architectural blueprints and diagrams.
- Select appropriate technology stacks, integration patterns, and data models to meet functional and non‑functional needs.
- Create Minimum Viable Architecture (MVA) templates and reusable solution patterns to accelerate future initiatives.
Delivery Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Provide hands‑on guidance to development, infrastructure, and vendor teams during implementation.
- Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and risk assessments to validate alignment with architecture and compliance standards.
- Troubleshoot critical technical issues and recommend mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Alignment & Facilitation
- Collaborate with BRMs, Capability Owners, Product Managers, and business leaders to capture requirements and ensure shared understanding.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences, fostering informed decision‑making.
- Facilitate trade‑off discussions around scope, cost, performance, and timelines.
Standards & Best Practices
- Define and promote technology standards, security principles, integration guidelines, and MVA guardrails.
- Maintain architectural documentation in enterprise architecture tooling (e.g., Ardoq).
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies that drive business value and operational efficiency.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to modernize legacy systems and reduce technical debt.
- Lead technical proof‑of‑concepts to validate new solutions and approaches.
- Contribute to Cooke’s innovation events (e.g., Hackathons, Innovation Days) to showcase solution concepts.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5+ years in solution architecture, systems design, or senior technical roles within complex enterprises.
- Solid understanding of cloud design principles and readiness to collaborate with Cloud and Security Architects on platform and security decisions.
- Experience designing solutions in manufacturing, food production, or supply chain is an asset.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft ecosystem (Power Platform, Dynamics, Azure DevOps).
- Certifications such as TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent are advantageous.
- Proficiency with architecture modelling and diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Ardoq).
