Job Responsibilities
Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, lighting fixtures and other electrical components such as switches, relays, circuit breakers and fuse disconnects

The position is subject to shift/weekend work and availability for on call in emergency
Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work collaboratively

**Qualifications**
**Knowledge, Skills and Experience:**

What you will do:

  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Inspect, test, dismantle, repair, replace, or adjust faulty parts on wiring on electrical equipment, (i.e., switches, circuit breakers, transformers, panel boards)
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as jacks, forklifts, and cranes to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Assist with proactive and reactive troubleshooting and repairs of production equipment to minimize production downtime and delays
  • Actively contribute to the preventative maintenance program by providing recommendations for improvement.

  • Industrial Electrician with Inter-Provincial Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal-442A)
  • Experience working safely in a heavy industrial environment

Position Summary
The industrial electrician will work as part of a team to install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in a manufacturing environment. The industrial electrician will also routinely perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and components in order to ensure the continued safe, efficient and effective operations of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization
Reporting Relationships
This position reports directly to the: Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and specifications in order to provide troubleshooting and repair services when needed.
  • Install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and equipment.
  • Diagnose, locate the cause of, and repair malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment and components.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
  • Direct and train other workers and apprentices to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
  • Work on other electrical projects as required.
  • Assists other maintenance technicians.
  • Ensure all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, provincial and federal safety regulations, codes and specifications.
  • Complete any other duties as assigned

Educational Requirements

  • Must be fully certified – 442A is preferred, but will accept 309A with strong industrial manufacturing exposure/experience

Work Experience Requirements

  • 3 years’ of electrician experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Experience with metal processing, heavy stamping or die casting is an asset
  • Ability to install, maintain, test troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment, preferably in a fast paced manufacturing/industrial

Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Must have ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and electrical code specifications
  • Knowledge of PLC Programmable logic capabilities
  • Skills in routine maintenance operations

Position Overview:

The Industrial Electrician is a manufacturing resource within the Brookside Manufacturing Facility that is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and electrical equipment. This includes troubleshooting, interpret blueprints and schematics, and ensure safety and compliance with electrical codes and regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

•Promoting and adhering to our safety and respectful workplace culture and instilling this culture while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance with all employee-focused regulations and state and federal rules and regulations;

•Setting up new electrical systems, including wiring, conduits, components, transformers and control systems; 


•Regularly checking, maintaining, and repairing existing electrical systems and equipment, including motors and control panels;


•Diagnosing and resolving electrical issues, such as short circuits, low voltage, and equipment repairs; 


•Performing various commissioning activities to ensure proper functioning of safety and electrical system and components;


•Keeping records of changes, and documentation updates; 


•Reading and Interpreting schematics, drawings, and other technical documents to facilitate the layout of electrical systems;


•To accomplish any other tasks or projects that may, from time to time, be assigned by management. 


Required Skills and Experience:

•Skills in troubleshooting and thrives on technical problem solving;

•Ability to plan and execute;

•Willingness to engage in hands-on development, testing, and root cause investigations;

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to listen to others and value opinions

Work Environment:

The Industrial Electrician will spend most of their time in a manufacturing and production working environment facilitating electrical tasks to meet manufacturing goals. There will be regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. There will be times when the industrial electrician will be required to work outside of their normal work schedule, so that we may meet the needs of our customers and/or operational requirements.


Physical Demands:

•It is expected that the employee be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;

•Position involves standing for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;

•Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to seventy-five (75) pounds occasionally and fifty (50) pounds frequently;

•Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;

•Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently to comprehend instructions;

•Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
