The Opportunity
Leavitt Machinery is looking for a part-time Equipment Training Instructor to join our team in Kitimat, BC . As an Instructor, you will facilitate professional and engaging presentations focused on Leavitt’s mobile equipment products (such as forklifts and skid steers), for a diverse range of audiences and experience levels. The ideal candidate will demonstrate relevant product expertise and in-depth knowledge of instructor and training fundamentals and best practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
As the Equipment Training Instructor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate hands-on equipment training sessions for groups or individuals at a variety of experience levels, from new equipment operators to in-house instructors, including external customers and internal employees
- Share expertise on a variety of operating equipment product lines
- Build strong relationships with customers and ensure their needs are understood and met
- Work closely with Sales team to ensure market strategies are implemented effectively
- Monitor equipment fleet inventories at a branch level and report deficiencies to the Operations Manager and/or Lead Instructor as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:
- Equipment operation experience for at least one of the following: forklifts, aerial platforms, skid steers, loaders, excavators and/or cranes
- Proven experience providing instruction and facilitating training in a group setting
- A valid driver’s license and a reliable method of transportation
- WHMIS certification and Level 1 First Aid certification
- Understanding of BC legislative and regulatory framework relating to OH&S
- Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Post-secondary education in a related field is preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (approx. 2 days per week), including weekends, to accommodate customer schedules as required
- Ability to travel within BC
The base pay range for this role is: $43.00 to $50.00 per hour.
This is a contract , onsite role based in Kitimat, BC .

Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of classes including cardio kickboxing,, HIIT, bootcamps, spin, yoga, Mossa program.
- Arrive at the class location 10 to 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled start time to be available to interact with members, answer questions, inquire about their fitness progress, introduce and orient new participants
- Inquire if there are any first-timers in the group and if so, assess their fitness level in as private a manner as possible
- Ensure all verbal instructions are clear and that the volume, tempo of music and overall atmosphere is conducive to hearing, teaching, learning and having fun
- Continually monitor participants to ensure all participants are using correct form. Offer variations of the routine to accommodate all fitness level
- Responsible for instructing classes within certain guidelines and ensuring equipment is safe for all members to use
- Dismantle all audio and visual equipment after use
- Encouraging members to try new group fitness classes is always a bonus!
- Minimum six (6) months of experience instructing group fitness classes
- Knowledge of safe exercise techniques, group exercise principles, basic physiology and body mechanics
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and influence people
- Professional, organized, efficient, results-focused and a self-starter
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment
- Group Fitness Certification by BCRPA, ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or equivalent
- Current CPR certification
