The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Inventory Manager to oversee both new and used inventory. This role is key to maintaining the financial health of the organization by optimizing inventory levels, minimizing costs, and maximizing profitability. The ideal candidate will focus on aged used equipment, monitor market trends, make informed purchasing decisions, and develop wholesale and retail strategies to ensure inventory efficiency and turnover.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain appropriate new inventory levels to meet customer demand while managing interest costs and cash exposure.
• Optimize used inventory levels to meet demand, maximize turns, and reduce financial risk.
• Evaluate and approve trades, particularly high-value equipment, ensuring efficient reconditioning and maximum profitability.
• Manage the re-marketing strategy for used equipment, including wholesale and retail sales.
• Cultivate and grow relationships with wholesale customers.
• Develop strategies to improve aged inventory metrics, including write-downs and turnover rates.
• Set lease rates, residuals, and rental rates according to corporate guidelines.
• Provide comprehensive inventory reporting, focusing on cash exposure, balance sheet health, and inventory turnover.
• Collaborate with management to implement systems that efficiently manage inventory, sales activity, and customer interactions.
• Monitor key metrics such as aging, interest expense, cash tied up, and sales-to-close ratios.
• Perform other duties as required within the scope of the role.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or college diploma in business, marketing, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, or inventory management.
• Strong organizational, strategic planning, and implementation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple platforms.
• Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with colleagues, business partners, and customers.
• Strong decision-making abilities and confidence in providing direction.
• Understanding of financial reports, budgets, and inventory-related metrics.
• Proficient with computer applications (Office Suite, Adobe, PowerPoint, email).

Work Conditions:

• Travel required to branch locations.
• Attendance and participation in meetings, training, and events.
• Flexible schedule to meet the needs of customers and sales teams.

• Ensure accurate inventory of all items;
• Report on inventory activities and discrepancies;
• Create new products and product configurators and keep them up to date;
• Prepare and organize monthly and annual cycle accounts, and make adjustments as necessary;
• Plan production and then enter it into the ERP system;
• Organize weekly production planning meetings, distributing the planning document prior to the meeting;
• Coordinate and ensure that the necessary raw materials are in stock for production.

The Opportunity
We're seeking an experienced Merchandise Manager with a strong background in furniture or mattress buying to lead product selection, vendor negotiations, inventory planning, and market trend alignment.
You'll work closely with the President and senior leadership to ensure the right products are sourced at the right time — and delivered to the right locations — to meet customer demand across Canada.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Procurement

• Identify and evaluate vendors and products aligned with company needs and customer preferences
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and fulfillment schedules
• Align purchasing with demand forecasts and product lifecycle planning
• Maintain and evolve the product roadmap

• Monitor inventory levels across locations to avoid stockouts or overstock
• Optimize turnover and reduce carrying costs by analyzing movement data
• Generate reports on order status, inventory performance, and trends
• Use analytics to inform future buys and assortment decisions

• Analyze sales trends and customer data to anticipate future inventory needs
• Identify gaps and opportunities for new products
• Conduct competitor research and monitor market trends, styles, and seasonal preferences
• Collaborate with operations and leadership on product quality and availability

• Minimum 3-5 years of buying experience in the furniture or mattress industry
• Strong vendor negotiation skills
• Proven inventory planning and data analysis capabilities
• Proficiency with Excel and inventory tools (ERP, forecasting systems)
• Highly organized with strong communication and decision-making skills

• Experience working in a multi-location warehouse retail model
• Exposure to trend forecasting and product lifecycle planning
• Experience with overseas sourcing or large-volume import operations

• Have solid volume furniture buying experience
• Enjoy a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
