Job Title: Mine Placement Planner (Contract)
Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, the Mine Placement Planner will be responsible for scheduling, planning, and coordinating all site material movements for both construction and operations. This role will work closely with the site geology team, Operations, and surveyors to plan workfronts, provide dig maps, and ensure the proper implementation of dump plans. Additionally, the Mine Placement Planner will generate material movement schedules, reconcile survey data, and develop detailed daily and weekly operational schedules to support efficient site operations.
This is a seasonal position with an anticipated employment depending on workload and the construction season.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe work practices are integrated into all mine operations activities and strictly adhered to.
Short-Term Planning & Coordination
- Interpret waste rock and overburden mining objectives from the Long Range Plan and develop an achievable short-term placement plan on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Work closely with the Geology team to compile and distribute dig maps.
- Collaborate with the survey team to ensure dump plans, dig plans, and work faces are accurately staked in the field as per design.
- Coordinate with the Operations team to distribute and communicate material movement plans and schedules effectively.
Material Movement & Dump Design
- Schedule construction work fronts based on material availability.
- Design dumps in phases to ensure adequate dump space is available for forecasted material quantities.
- Work alongside the Operations Engineer to collect and utilize production data for accurate forecasting and as-built material movement tracking.
- Track all pit material data, ensuring running totals are completed and distributed as needed.
- Collaborate with the Operations Engineer and Project Controls team to provide input on forecasting, scheduling, budgeting, and progress tracking.
- Work directly with Operations Supervisors, Engineers, and Superintendents to plan work fronts based on material availability.
Technical Support & Data Management
- Assist the Technical Services team with tracking drill and blast metrics, survey requests, volume reconciliation, and ML/ARD data.
- Verify all quantity tracking with the Operations Engineer to ensure material is properly accounted for and uploaded in compliance with permit conditions.
- Work closely with the Qualified Person (QP) for dump design to ensure proper execution.
Ownership & Integration
- Act as the primary owner responsible for major dump management.
- Oversee the integration of pit planning with construction fronts, ensuring seamless coordination between teams.
The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Construction or Mining engineering, or other related discipline OR Civil, Mining and Geomatics technologist diploma.
Experience / Skills
- A minimum of 3–4 years of experience in mining and/or heavy civil construction is required.
- Previous experience in dump design, dam construction, and/or drill and blast is essential.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint), GIS programs (ArcGIS), and 3D mine modeling software (AutoCAD, Deswik).
- Experience with fleet dispatch/management systems and managing HPGPS equipment.
- Demonstrated project management experience, with experience in greenfield or brownfield start-up projects considered an asset.
- Must be willing and able to work a rotational schedule in a remote mining camp.
- Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
- Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
- Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities

Work Location & Conditions
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.

Compensation
The expected hourly range for this position is CA$35/h - CA$45/h, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Role Purpose:
- Product Placement Scientists are key technical contributors, performing the testing, selection and advancement of new vegetable seeds products.
- To specialize in high-tech greenhouse cultivation techniques and their impact on variety performance and selection.
- To work with commercial sales team and growers, and directly perform and manage sowing, planting, and evaluating precommercial variety trials.
- To be a high impact team member by effectively collaborating with the Market Segment, Commercial Sales, Breeding, and other Crop R&D Teams.
- To develop deep knowledge of key crops and regional markets and to build a strong network of dealer & grower collaborators.
- To evaluate crop product performance using synthesized information from analysis of trial data, from growers, and from industry feedback on their needs.
- To deliver recommendations for advancement and product placement of new varieties with high probability of success based on subject matter expertise and trial data analysis.
- To be an active adopter of high-throughput phenotyping technologies, environment typing, data capture tools, robust analysis, collection of crop management data, and data-driven decision making.
Accountabilities:
- Develop expertise in high-tech greenhouse crop management strategies and their effects on plant and variety performance.
- Manage off-site trialing and deliver quality data, analysis, and recommendations to support advancement decisions.
- Find, place, sow, transplant, check, and evaluate early stage, pre-commercial vegetable varieties in greenhouses. Work with growers, dealer partners, and greenhouse managers, to ensure continuity and prompt, professional communication with all collaborators.
- In collaboration with crop team colleagues, establish the number of trials and varieties tested to support commercial objectives.
- Act as the primary liaison between breeding teams and North American greenhouse operations, providing critical field observations and insights.
- Develop and deliver yearly trial plans according to market segment strategies. Plan yearly resources allocations.
- Collect trial data in fields with Syngenta employees or third-party collaborators.
- Organize and lead Product Advancement Tours to present new product candidates for advancement, effectively communicating and 'selling' the story of each variety's potential.
- Track and deliver successful pipeline progress toward target product profiles.
- Partner with stakeholder groups to optimize trial designs and adopt new technologies to enhance quality, capacity, and/or efficiency of trialing program.
- In collaboration with the commercial organization, establish on-farm collaborations with key customers; create a customer centric culture; and deliver solutions to our customers faster by exchanging data and information.

Qualifications
Education & Experience:

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Education, Human Resources, or related field is required Experience related to expertise in a related field will be considered li>Minimum 3–5 years of experience in healthcare, education coordination, and/or
workforce development
- Experience working with post-secondary institutions, clinical education programs, or student support services required
- Experience working with or in Indigenous communities and an understanding of Indigenous cultures is highly valued and preferred
- Valid drivers’ license and own vehicle required ; copy of current drivers’ abstract required
- Commitment to ongoing training and professional development relevant to the job requirements
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of clinical education and healthcare systems
- Familiarity with rural and northern healthcare challenges and opportunities
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data tracking tools, and virtual collaboration platforms
Working Conditions
- Based in a Northwestern Ontario community and reporting to the host site in Kenora, ON at Lake of the Woods District Hospital
- Regional travel expected
- Flexible hybrid work options may be available based on operational needs
- Occasional evening and weekend hours required to support recruitment events and community engagement
