**We are currently hiring for Journeyperson Electricians to join the maintenance team at our Underground Salt Mine in Goderich, Ontario.**
Compass Minerals' Goderich Salt Mine, located 1,800 feet under Lake Huron, is the largest underground salt mine in the world. The mine is as deep as the CN Tower in Toronto is tall. The rock salt produced at the mine is used to keep citizens in North America safe as they travel through winter snow and ice. The salt is shipped to hundreds of communities around the Great Lakes and along the St. Lawrence Seaway. Some of the salt is trucked to the Compass Minerals plant less than 4 kilometers away, to be packaged for distribution and sale at retailers in North America. The salt is also sold in bulk to manufacturers that make plastics, detergents, disinfectants and other important products. Goderich is named Canada's Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1.5 hours from London and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.
**HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM?**
This position, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, will be responsible for the; maintenance, repair and installation work of mining infrastructure. The positions will also be responsible for manning the various fixed plant services on site.
- Maintenance of mining electrical equipment
- Reliability improvement of mining electrical equipment
- Working on the electrical component of various projects as required
- Maintenance of electrical distribution equipment and troubleshooting of electrical distribution and mining equipment
- Troubleshooting and maintaining the plant control network
- Required to work on portable sub-station relocation as well as with HV and MV cable splicing
- Other duties as required
**WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?**
- High School Diploma, coupled with an Industrial Electrician License (442A) or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A)
- Valid Driver's License.
- Experience as an Electrician in the mining industry, or a similar heavy industrial environment.
- Experience on PLC systems.
- Experience on VFD & Electronic Soft Start Systems.
- Experience in Medium and High Voltage Systems.
- Red Seal Certified preferred.

Responsibilities



  • Analyze system logs, error codes, and performance metrics to identify root causes of malfunctions and implement corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution of system issues, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.

+ Suggest and implement improvement of existing equipment and/or designs to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
+ Assists in troubleshooting electrical component, wiring diagrams.
+ Testing electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures.
+ Provides technical support to project managers and engineers on projects.
+ Contacts are typically with the supervisor and other members of the team or immediate organization but may be outside of this in order to complete the assignment. May represent the team on projects and interface with customers. Impacts of errors normally have implications requiring additional resources.
+ Contributes to improving processes, equipment downtime, and costs.
+ Provides resolutions from basic to moderately complex problems. Exercises judgment within procedures and practices in selecting methods and techniques for arriving at solutions.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ 309 A (or 442) electrical license with experience in industrial work
+ Three or more years of experience as a licensed 309A (or 442) electrician required
+ Experience in a manufacturing setting is an asset
+ Experience working around 600 VAC and up to 1500 VDC
+ Preferred experience on equipment and automation consistent with energy storage and/or power generation equipment
+ Ability to train apprentices
+ Ability to effectively communicate
+ Contributes to identifying problems and implementing appropriate countermeasures. Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to understand complex issues and systematically work toward resolution.
+ Working knowledge of PLC hardware and programming systems, ability to maintain and troubleshoot PLC controlled equipment is required.

**Compensation:** Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role when based in Cambridge is $33.50-$49.00 CAD Hourly . This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
