**We are currently hiring for 1 Electrician to join the maintenance team at our Underground Salt Mine in Goderich, Ontario.**
Compass Minerals' Goderich Salt Mine, located 1,800 feet under Lake Huron, is the largest underground salt mine in the world. The mine is as deep as the CN Tower in Toronto is tall. The rock salt produced at the mine is used to keep citizens in North America safe as they travel through winter snow and ice. The salt is shipped to hundreds of communities around the Great Lakes and along the St. Lawrence Seaway. Some of the salt is trucked to the Compass Minerals plant less than 4 kilometers away, to be packaged for distribution and sale at retailers in North America. The salt is also sold in bulk to manufacturers that make plastics, detergents, disinfectants and other important products. Goderich is named Canada's Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1.5 hours from London and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.
**HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM?**
This position, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, will be responsible for the; maintenance, repair and installation work of mining infrastructure. The positions will also be responsible for manning the various fixed plant services on site.
- Maintenance of mining electrical equipment
- Reliability improvement of mining electrical equipment
- Working on the electrical component of various projects as required
- Maintenance of electrical distribution equipment and troubleshooting of electrical distribution and mining equipment
- Troubleshooting and maintaining the plant control network
- Required to work on portable sub-station relocation as well as with HV and MV cable splicing
- Other duties as required
**WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?**
- High School Diploma, coupled with an Industrial Electrician License (442A) or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A)
- Valid Driver's License.
- Experience as an Electrician in the mining industry, or a similar heavy industrial environment.
- Experience on PLC systems.
- Experience on VFD & Electronic Soft Start Systems.
- Experience in Medium and High Voltage Systems.
- Red Seal Certified preferred.

**Job Description**
This role involves engaging in various tasks such as pulling cable and wire, running conduit, performing minor tray work, and handling terminating, testing, and commissioning work at a water treatment plant. Most of the preparatory work is complete, including the underground duct bank installation, setting the stage for focused electrical work.

Some of the key responsibilities you should expect include the following:
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and components, including wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, and lighting systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure system functionality
- Plan and manage electrical projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating with other trades and contractors
- Conduct extensive work on pad mounted transformers (PMTs) to include Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) Test prep, IR scans, ensuring proper torquing standards are met, etc.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations
- Work closely with operations staff and facility managers to optimize repairs and maintenance efforts while also helping to develop and grow with other electricians across the company
- Possess deep experience with 3-phase electrical systems.
- PLC Programming a plus, but not required
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues in commercial and industrial settings.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all team members
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections, repairs, and installations

ABOUT YOU
Ideal candidates will have extensive experience and certifications in safely installing and maintaining LV/MV electrical systems and components. HV experience is great to have, but not required. Collaborate with contractors and teammates to meet project deadlines and expectations
Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry advancements
Available for occasional weekend or on-call emergency work
Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean driving record required
What We’re Looking For
Licensing & Experience
Alberta Journeyman Electrician (Red Seal preferred)
Completion of a recognized electrician program or equivalent experience
3–5 years of residential and commercial electrical experience
Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and safety practices
Skills & Technical
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
Tech-comfortable (Jobber, iPads, or similar platforms are an asset)
Able to work independently and collaboratively on job sites
Communication & Professionalism
Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
Professional appearance and respectful client interactions
Committed to providing 5-star service and building trust
Character & Commitment
Reliable, self-motivated, and takes pride in workmanship
High attention to detail—follows instructions and delivers clean, compliant work
