JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Technician/Technologist (Electrical/Electronics) plays a crucial role in the production team. This position involves operating, maintaining, and providing operational support for vacuum coating, UV casting, and other equipment. Key responsibilities include diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical/electronic systems, such as motor controllers and PLCs, to ensure optimal performance and minimize production downtime. The technologist/technician will work closely with the production and engineering teams to implement process improvements and contribute to the business needs through continuous improvement initiatives. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are representative of the functions that must be performed in order to satisfactorily fulfill the purpose of this job. Additional functions and duties may be assumed or assigned from time to time.
- Operate, maintain, and support vacuum coating, UV casting, and other relevant systems.
- Perform roll coater cleaning and preparation procedures to ensure optimal performance and adherence to scheduled cycle times.
- Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot electrical issues in roll coaters and other equipment, including motor controllers, wiring, and circuit breakers.
- Program, update, and maintain PLC systems, documenting all changes to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to implement process enhancements and automation solutions.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to address production challenges and opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology, or an equivalent certification or qualification.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of engineering experience.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and production documents.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, including motor controllers, PLCs, ladder logic PLC programs, electrical wiring, and circuit breakers.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical and electronic issues in an industrial setting.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Project, Teams, and Outlook.
Assets
- Knowledge and experience with vacuum deposition processes and optical thin film manufacturing in a roll-to-roll process.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Health and Safety SDS knowledge and material handling experience.
WORK REQUIREMENTS
Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard (office/warehouse/lab ) environment. Employees may work under the stress of regular interdepartmental interaction and pressure to meet various deadlines.
Physical: Essential functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an (office/warehouse/lab ) setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time; must be able to hear and verbally communicate in order to exchange information in person or over the phone; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist; to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 25 pounds of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement; to occasionally travel to other locations using various modes of private or commercial transportation.

Sommaire du poste :
Le technicien en lectricit de locomotives est responsable du diagnostic, de la rparation et de loptimisation des systmes lectriques des locomotives, incluant les moteurs de traction, les gnratrices et les systmes de contrle. Il travaille en troite collaboration avec les quipes mcaniques, les clients et les fournisseurs, tout en contribuant au dveloppement des comptences de lquipe. Ce poste exige une excellente connaissance des systmes lectriques complexes, une capacit danalyse avance et une rigueur exemplaire en matire de scurit et de performance.
Responsabilits principales :
- Fournir une expertise dans le diagnostic des dfaillances lectriques des locomotives, incluant les moteurs de traction, les gnratrices, les systmes de contrle et autres composants lectriques.
- Identifier les systmes ou pices problmatiques laide de techniques de diagnostic et de dtection de pannes.
- Tester les quipements rpars afin de vrifier leur bon fonctionnement et leur conformit aux spcifications du fabricant.
- Participer au dveloppement de modifications techniques et aux essais des quipements.
- Collaborer avec les quipes techniques des clients et des fournisseurs pour trouver des solutions techniques fiables.
- Travailler avec les quipes mcaniques pour optimiser lintgration des systmes et la performance globale.
- Rdiger des rapports de suivi et dintervention, et tenir jour la documentation technique.

Qualifications requises :
- DEC en technologie du gnie lectrique ou exprience pertinente.

- Capacit lire avec prcision les manuels de moteurs diesel, les schmas lectriques de locomotives, les bulletins de service, les instructions de maintenance et autres documents techniques.
- Connaissance des rgles, spcifications et directives de la FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) et de lentreprise.
- Trs bonne matrise de Microsoft Office. La connaissance dAutoCAD est un atout.

Position Summary:
The Locomotive Electrical Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing the electrical systems of locomotives, including traction motors, generators, and control systems. The position requires a strong understanding of complex electrical systems, advanced analytical capabilities, and a high level of precision and safety awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise in trouble shooting electrical issues with locomotives, including malfunctions in traction motors, generators, control systems, and other electrical components.
- Identify problematic systems/parts to ascertain performance failures using diagnostic and faultfinding techniques.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
