  • Document research ideas and investment rationales
  • Maintain and update various analytical tools used to evaluate stocks for inclusion in funds

  • Present to internal and external clients about stock selection, investment ideas, and portfolio activity.
  • Work closely with portfolio managers
  • Participate in research and process improvement initiatives on an ongoing basis.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • A broad range of experience levels will be considered although applicants should ideally have a minimum of 5 years equity research experience (buy-side or sell-side) in the Utilities sector. Flexible compensation structure that will adjust for those applicants with more experience
  • Bachelors degree, or higher.
  • CFA designation, or commitment to obtain the CFA designation.

  • Suivi des opportunités d'acquisitions et des processus de "sourcing"

      • Surveiller les activités M&A dans le secteur des logiciels verticaux (VMS)
      • Analyser les acquisitions de concurrents (ex : fonds de capital-investissement, aggrégateurs stratégiques, entreprises et autres)
      • Identifier les grandes tendances (privatisations, IPOs, multiples de valorisation, stratégies de monétisation)
      • Rédiger des notes exécutives courtes et des mémos stratégiques trimestriels sur les tendances du marché, les risques et les opportunités.
  • Discipline Opérationnelle et Gouvernance des Processus
    • Assurer la qualité des données dans Outreach et SAP en appliquant une pression de suivi et des rappels auprès des équipes M&A.
    • Travailler avec les équipes Data/BI pour garantir que les tableaux de bord automatisés soient précis, fiables et exploitables.
    • Promouvoir l’adoption des meilleures pratiques dans le suivi et le reporting des opportunités à travers les différents groupes.
  • Insight Stratégique et Soutien à la Direction

QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES / MINIMALES :

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Own the full visibility of Valsoft’s deal pipeline across all investment groups.

    • Collaborate with data and BI teams to ensure automated dashboards are accurate and business-ready.
    • Drive adoption of best practices in deal tracking and reporting across groups.
  • Strategic Insight & C-Suite Enablement
    • Synthesize pipeline trends and external intelligence into strategic insights.
    • Support C-Suite in investment committee meetings, board reports, and capital deployment decisions.

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience in Market Research, Corporate Development, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Consulting, Transactional Service, or similar roles. Experience supporting M&A lead generation is a bonus.
  • Strong understanding of M&A process, deal origination, and capital deployment dynamics.
  • Advanced analytical skills and ability to interpret large volumes of deal and market data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – able to produce polished executive-level content and work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong personality and credibility – able to push back on senior dealmakers when required.

Your Contribution

As an integral member of the advisory team, you will be challenged to accept increasing levels of responsibility as you develop your skills and reputation. Your work will directly impact our clients and the firm.

Your role will include:

  • Participating in the execution of equity and debt offerings, mergers and acquisitions, public-private partnerships, and principal investments
  • Developing complex financial models for infrastructure transactions, including the use of macros and VBA programming
  • Assisting in the management of due diligence processes, including managing third-party advisors
  • Developing asset valuations using a variety of approaches
  • Preparing client presentations and actively participating in discussions
  • Evaluating investment opportunities and management of existing investments
  • Researching potential investment banking opportunities; providing research on target companies, sectors, industries, and geographies
  • Maintaining marketing materials for the firm, including creating pitch decks to be presented to potential clients

Your Skills and Experience

  • An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, commerce, business, statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other related areas
  • Must be graduating by summer 2026 or already graduated
  • Exceptional academic results (minimum cGPA of 80% or 3.7/4.0)
  • Proven interest in investment banking through extracurriculars, internships, or competitions
  • Ability to concisely communicate complex concepts and ideas verbally and in writing
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Desire to assume increasing levels of responsibility and seek solutions to complex problems
  • Committed to producing accurate and thorough work product under tight deadlines

What We Offer

The annual base salary for this position will be $120,000 per year excluding benefits. The total compensation package also includes an uncapped performance-based bonus.
