What Will You Do?
Your role will be to perform testing and duties in support of the Quality Labs.
More specifically, you will:
Perform lab technician duties (including but not limited to: testing, quality checks, durability tests, summary of findings, data entry, generating SPC charts, submitting shift reports, placing materials on hold)
Utilize various laboratory equipment and tools to ensure that a multitude of secure documents and their constituent components meet specific product specifications and standards through verification and durability testing.
Help maintain the laboratory and its equipment - employ 5S principles to ensure a clean, well-organized and safe environment that is tour-worthy at all times; coordinate calibration and certification of laboratory equipment and manufacturing measuring devices.
Learn, grow and develop your knowledge and skills so you can identify opportunities for improvement and propose process improvements that will positively impact quality levels and increase efficiencies.
Ability to work various shifts (Evenings, Nights) is mandatory.
QualificationsOur ideal candidate will have experience within a lab environment (print, pulp & paper, pharmaceutical, healthcare), be technologically savvy, detail-oriented, curious and have an interest in quality. Experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset.
Knowledge/Experience
• High level of proficiency in Office 365 (specifically Excel and Word);
• Previous experience in statistical analysis (basic level) is an asset, but not required.
• Previous experience in technical writing is an asset, but not required.
• Previous experience in quality control is an asset, but not required;
• Previous experience in the print industry is an asset, but not required.
Soft Skills

Essential Skills

Location: Lethbridge County, AB
Schedule: 40 hours per week + optional overtime (OT), occasional Saturdays

About the Role
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our seed operations team. This role involves processing treated seed samples on the plant floor, supporting quality assurance, and assisting with seed handling and warehouse operations. Full training will be provided, but prior experience with seed processing, QA, or sampling is an asset.
You must be comfortable using computers (Excel, Outlook) and working in a fast-paced industrial environment with rotating shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and analyze treated seed samples
- Perform tasks associated with harvest, conditioning, treating, packaging, warehousing, and shipping
- Operate forklifts safely for shipping/receiving and seed movement (training available if no prior experience)
- Maintain accurate records (quality, safety, inventory, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality plans
- September–October: Receive, weigh, and unload seed trucks; process and treat seed; supply conditioning lines
- November–March: Label, tag, bag, and palletize seed; enter inventory data; stage seed for shipping
- April–August: Retag and re-bag seed, inspect and wash pro boxes, manage returned seed
Schedule & Shifts
- Day Shift: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
- Evening Shift: 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm
- Rotating every 2 weeks (must be available for both)
- Overtime and weekend work may be required during peak seasons
Required:
- High School Diploma (mandatory for permanent opportunities)

Compass Minerals' Goderich Plant has operated since 1867, after an unsuccessful search for oil uncovered a vast bed of rock salt under Goderich. **ABOUT THE ROLE**
The GVA Lab technician is responsible for the durability requirements and testing for all concrete and aggregate samples for the GVA as well as all reportables therein. The incumbent must adhere to the Amrize WCAN Quality Management Strategy. Reporting to the GVA RMX Quality Control Lab Manager, the incumbent will be expected to be able perform all material strength and durability tests in compliance with CSA and ASTM requirements.The incumbent works with the Laboratory team in performing cylinder transport and curing, compression testing, aggregate testing, product trialing and development, mix optimization, result reporting and KPI tracking in the Richmond Quality Control Lab.
**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
+ Quality control of ready-mix, through active testing of finished goods and its raw materials. Including all concrete durability tests as well as aggregate testing (grading, durability etc).
+ Responsible for keeping and maintaining records and KPI performance inputting.
+ Supports QA manager with mix performance, mix optimization, product solutions, through KPI's.
+ Promotes a positive safety culture; performs all work activities following all relevant safety policies and procedures.
+ Supports the preparation, batching, mixing and testing of concrete mix designs and cement/cementitious materials (strength, slump, durability, particle size etc), ensures all materials are adequately stocked.
+ Transportation of cylinders as per CSA specifications.
+ Tracking and reporting FLRA's and Environmental checklists.
+ Contributes to all lab-related non-technical tasks including housekeeping, organization, data entry, and lab maintenance projects.

**Job Summary**
Responsible for performing complex laboratory procedures and tests in areas such as blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology and microbiology, using established protocols and procedures. Monitors, screens and troubleshoots devices, tests and procedures, recognizing anomalies, and making corrections to ensure quality.
**Essential Functions**
+ Collects, processes and performs a variety of moderate and high complexity tests on specimens and complete all documentation for pre-analtyic, analytic and post-analytic activities.
+ Maintains equipment and records, monitors tests and procedures to perform quality assurance activities related to test performance.
+ Gives direction and guidance to phlebotomy and specimen management teams, may assist with department orientation for new caregivers and students
+ Consults with clinicians, supervisor and other caregivers as appropriate on test results, requirements and testing protocols.
+ Maintains appropriate records for specimens, tests and data. Utilizes computer systems in reporting and documenting analysis.
+ Participates in department in-services and continuing education programs, attending lectures, workshops and video presentation as required. Participates in required competency assessment and proficiency testing activities. Provides active (CAP, HIPPA, etc.) support.

+ Associate Degree Required: Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited laboratory training program or equivalent education as defined by CLIA 42CFR . Program or institution must be accredited by a regional or national accreditation agency
**Experience**
+ 2 years Preferred: Experience performing high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory department and
+ Required: New graduates will be considered
+ Preferred: Microbiology experience preferred/required, plate reading, culture processing
**Credentials**
+ Required: within 1 Year Medical Laboratory Technician by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT)
**Skills**
+ Ability to recognize and ensure validity of abnormal patient and/or QC results for testing (Required)
+ Working knowledge of specimen collection, preparation, and test requirements and factors affecting test interpretation in responding to inquiries (Required)
+ Good written and verbal communication skills (Required)
+ Working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office programs (Required)
