One of the GTA’s longest-running roller manufacturers is hiring a Lathe Operator to join their experienced team at their new Richmond Hill facility.

In this role, you will operate various lathe machines to refine and strip excess material from roller cores, assist other machinists as needed, and work closely with the Production Manager to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently after training, as well as in a team environment

  • Skilled with hand and power tools

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

  • Able to safely lift up to 50 lbs when required

  • Previous machining experience is an asset

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate multiple manual lathe machines

  • Prepare roller cores by removing rubber designs

  • Set up larger roller cores with other team members

  • Perform quality checks to ensure all rubber removal is completed to standard

  • Assist other machinists with daily duties

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Production Manager

Position Details:

  • Pay: $28/hour to start

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM (day shift, full time)

We are seeking a versatile Lathe Operator with experience in both manual lathes and CNC lathes . The ideal candidate will be able to set up, operate, and maintain both types of equipment to produce precision components to exact specifications. You will work from technical drawings, ensure quality control, and maintain high production standards.

Key Responsibilities
 

Set up and operate both manual lathes and CNC lathes to machine metal and plastic components.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders.
Select cutting tools, adjust feeds/speeds, and perform turning, facing, threading, and boring operations.
Load materials, monitor machining operations, and make adjustments to tooling and offsets as needed.
Perform quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
Maintain equipment in good working condition and perform basic preventative maintenance.
Follow all workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.

Qualifications


2+ years’ experience operating manual and/or CNC lathes .
Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
Knowledge of CNC programming (G-code) is an asset.
High attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset.

Job Description:

  • Hours: Mon - Thurs; 3:15pm to 1:45am.
  • MUST be an experienced mill & lathe operator, preferred 5+ years of experience.
  • Can work without supervision.

Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Basic computer experience (Internet Explorer / Microsoft Word).
  • Knowledge of imperial measurement system (inch/pound/feet).
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools (hammer/wrench/screwdriver).

Secondary Responsibilities:
