Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Laundry Supervisor, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Sorting and organizing laundry items by type, color, and fabric
- Operating commercial laundry equipment, such as washing machines, dryers, and ironing machines
- Ensuring that all laundry items are properly cleaned, dried, and pressed before being returned to guests or crew members
- Identifying and treating stains and other problem areas on clothing and linens
- Maintaining accurate records of laundry activities and inventory
- Ordering and maintaining an inventory of laundry supplies and equipment
- Coordinating with other departments, such as housekeeping, to ensure smooth operations
- Following all safety and sanitation protocols to ensure the health and safety of guests and crew members
- Assisting with other tasks as needed, such as cleaning or inventory management.
Qualifications
- A hospitality diploma or related training may be preferred
- STCW Basic Safety Courses
- Seafarer's Medical Certificate
- Proven experience in laundry department, preferably in a floating food service platform or cruise ship environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

We are also on a bus route, with a stop just outside of the hotel, and our complimentary shuttle also picks up our employees from the bus loop at UBCO!
What will you be doing?
- Maintaining a neatly groomed appearance (uniform clean and name tag on)
- Must be able to work well in a team atmosphere, as well as independently.
- Being able to fully operate laundry machines and understand how they function.
- Provide the Housekeeping department with clean linen and cleaning tools, folding all linen to the hotel’s standard.
- Keeping the work area and machines clean; ensure any machine defects are reported promptly to the Manager.
- Manually transport and distribute laundry to pre-designated locations.
- Handle chemicals in a cautious and responsible manner in compliance with MSDS.
- Keep track of damaged/repairable linens.
- Assist in Linen Inventories.
- Separate all linen/towels, accordingly, including any types of stains. Need to be able to sort dirty linen in time for pick up according to the pick-up/delivery schedule provided.
- Keep Housekeeping leadership informed of the need to know, such as: excessive staining, excessive damages, any problems with laundry service and all issues that may affect the laundry function.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and requirements.
- Must be comfortable working with abrasive chemicals and using PPE.
- Provide outstanding customer service to all our guests.
- Take and complete all Brand Training.
- Available to work varied shifts: days, weekends, and holidays.
- Assisting in property walks, parking lot clean ups.
- Assisting other departments when necessary and available. Cross training or working at our sister properties.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, the Laundry Attendant is responsible for:
- Ensures maximum cleaning effectiveness by sorting laundry prior to washing according to fabric type, colour, and item;
- Pulls damaged and/or stained linen prior to loading washers;
- Ensures maximum loading capacity by weighing bed linens prior to washing;
- Loads washers and dryers to recommended weights;
- Saves energy by setting dryers for proper heating and cooling times;
- Places only proper linens in the dryer to be dried;
