Reporting to the Senior Director of Legal Affairs, you will be involved in negotiating and drafting commercial leases, amendments, and renewals, while acting as a strategic partner to the operations and property management teams. You will work closely with internal teams, coordinate mandates assigned to external legal counsel, and contribute to the drafting of reports on ongoing matters. You will also interpret the rights and obligations of the parties, anticipate and highlight legal risks, and provide creative solutions to address the issues at hand. You will also assist with other projects within the legal department and may occasionally be called upon to work on certain acquisitions.

Our client is a highly respected Canadian downtown Toronto boutique law firm. They are currently seeking a Law Clerk with 3+ years experience in Civil Litigation and Family Law.
Your new role
In this new role you will be responsible for Drafting documents, including pleadings, orders, briefs, conformations, and other court documents, correspondence, and other legal documents preparing files/documents for meetings, service and filing with the court. You will also be responsible for Intake including communicating with Potential New Firm Clients and Firm lawyers as well as maintaining contact and positive rapport with clients. Schedule meetings, conference calls and work with lawyers in management of calendars and deadlines. Mediation, Arbitration and Trial preparation. You will also be required to keep informed on court notices, new polices, Rules and legislation, and providing updated communications to lawyers. In addition to your role, you will also Prepare books of authority, affidavits, financial statements, NFP statements, Divorcemate calculations, disclosure briefs.
What you will need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you must be a team player who thrives in an environment that offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic group of individuals both independently and as part of a team. You possess excellent organizational skills, with high attention to detail, and must have the ability to multitask, all of which will assist you in working in this high volume, fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are also a must for dealing effectively with clients, lawyers, and professionals in the interests of our clients. You possess solid knowledge of the Family Law Rules and the Rules of Civil Procedure, including filing deadlines. Experience with MS Office is a must and knowledge in the applications of PC Law and DivorceMate are also required.

Our Client is a leading law firm serving the GTA across multiple practice areas. They are currently in expansion mode and are looking to add some high calibre talents to the team.
Your new role
In this new role you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the law firm, including carrying out administrative services, providing support to the team. You will also be required to draft legal documents and correspondence, liaising with various clients as well as Scheduling of appointments and attending to the delivery and receipt of closing, documents, and proceeds. In your new role you will be required to able to prepare court documents such as: applications, pleadings, notices of motion, affidavits in support of various motions, affidavits of documents, pre-trial briefs, and motion records
What you will need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you must have minimum of 5 years relevant experience at a law firm. You will bring with you a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills and would be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace. Strong technical skills using PC Law, MS Office, ACL III is required.
